She’s right. And the more access everyone gets to the theatre and the like the more diversity of actors there will be and the same applies to the theatre access that applies to acting schools
The fact that this video has only had 579 views says it all. Makes me feel defeated when working class people have no realistic way to access the arts, especially now. The only solution is to create our own arts.
I’m a teen in the uk and I am interested in a career in acting - however, as of right now, I have no experience and do not go to an acting school. I don’t know whether I should delay when I follow my goals however I will never be younger than I am now. Please let me know if you have ideas

Hi, I’m 14 and I live in the uk and love drama and acting because I feel a real connection to it and when I’m acting I just feel really happy but the only 2 problems are is I go to a high school and not a drama school and I’ve taken drama as one of my options of course and the second problem is I’m too shy, and I’ve only done one performance so far and it did go pretty well (well at least I thought so) and I don’t really have any experience at all but I love doing it so if you Could recommend me some advice that would help a lot and I know I’m young and I have more time but I would like to start acting young because I feel I can express myself more than I ever could
Hello, I don't know if you still reply, but my daughter is taking Drama GCSE (predicted grade is 9), however it was not what she expected (she didn't like it very much). She is now applying for sixth form and is not sure whether to take Drama A level or Media. She's interested in post production, editing and creating short films (behind the scenes), but is not sure if it would help with her pursuing an acting career. And she really enjoys drama in general, but she's afraid A level Drama will be like drama GCSE. Is there any advice you would give her about choosing between these options to progress her acting career?
I’m turning 23 this year, I’ve been thinking about acting for quite long time already, but couldn’t go to drama school because of modeling job I do and did. I used to travel a lot so I couldn’t even find a teacher, as I wasn’t based at any country. And now I’m planning to move to United Kingdom, I wonder what is the best thing for me to start from? I’m afraid to loose even more time with drama school because of my age, I think I could study for a year and then try to find an agent… so complicated, what would you suggest to do?
What do you mean by "hardly"? Do you mean you think he's not very good? If you do then that's the wrong word. Hardly means "barely". He didn't have much experience before The office, but he did have theatre experience. So he was early carer - and in that sense every single actor on the planet has been "hardly" an actor at one point. So it's really not clear what your point is, over and above stating a point of fact. You might just as well have said "he wears glasses."
Thank you for this. I have been working as a background actor for over 2 decades now as well as a couple of student films and features in movies but it still is not enough to be considered for spotlight but this initial knockback is only spurring me on to keep going. I will be taking the experience root because at 43 and being told at 24 while on a fine art degree that I should switch courses to performing arts that perhaps I didn't make the best long term decision but made the right decision at the time. Now I have quite a lot of life experience and industry experience to draw from that I know now this is what I wanted all along. I feel as if I have comic acting in me. Hugely inspired by the late great Robin Williams.
So you switched from fine art to performing arts? Or finished with a fine art degree? The reason I ask is because im a fine art student and my interest is really starting to hone into acting as of late.
