Picking a player like Faksa, Tufte, or Deleandrea with a first round pick doesn't make sense to me. Faksa and Delleandrea met their projected ceilings, Tufte was one line short. These players are never worth a first round pick, so why draft one in the first round?
@LockedOnStars
@LockedOnStars 2 часа назад
In defense to Dallas, picking outside of the top 10 in most drafts your taking a shot in the dark with most players. 2012 was pretty slim when you look back and Faksa carved out a nice career albeit without a high ceiling. Val was a great pick, unfortunately they are not rewarding for it. Your point is valid though, Dellandre, Honka and Tufte we're not worth first round picks. Something has changed in the way they evaluate players and our now reaping the benifits of it. Let's hope that continues 🤞

Regarding "for the larger group", what did it bring this year? Compared to last? We exited the same game in the WCF this year as we did last. Until this team can win the first game of the series and not have a multi-goal lead that they piss away, they're not going anywhere and probably won't even be back this far next year. Some believe no team captian'd by Benn will ever get further than this or a lose in the final series.

Ty was Otter’s best friend and roommate, and there’s a snippet of an interview where Otter talks about how he thought Ty would be the next captain of the team and they’d look back in their 30s about how they’d played for the Stars their whole career. I’m a tad bit concerned that this whole situation and move might sour Jake a little bit and impact contract negotiations next offseason (this is the last year of his deal btw).

Wyatt is the obvious next captain, Ty is good but not what we need to win. The NHL is a busniess Dutchy learned that this season its just the way it is.

Faksa shoulve been the one that was traded. Im assuming Nills did this for a money move though to free up cap space to either resign Tanev or for a bigger addition maybe?

It is not the coach's fault. I do not believe the Oilers would have gone through Vegas then Colorado and beaten Dallas. We do not have the size we need, Robertson is a good scorer but he is too soft in the playoffs. Benn and Stanky are the only players that want to go plant themselves in front of the net! Maybe Joe could pull a Mark Stone and miss a season and just come back for the playoffs... Lol

What if, Dallas traded Esa Lindell and Raeek Faksa to Detroit for a second round draft pick, and then turned around and traded this year’s first, next years first, and that 2nd round picks to Ottawa for tkchuk +detriot retaining 25% of his salary. Buys out Suters contract.. Dallas then Signs Roy, Tanev, Harley, Duchene, steel, Hakenpaa, and Kulikov. Who would need prospects?
@TheDoooburner

That sounds like a Lose Lose Lose scenario for all parties.
@ryanu.4953
@ryanu.4953 День назад
@@TheDoooburner lose for all 3 parties? It’s possible. Ottowa would be all in on a rebuild, Detroit would get likely to be their best defensemen, and some depth, and Dallas would get to hit restart on a new gen version of Benn. I see it as very even, but even could be a lose lose lose, or a win win win.

Knowing Jim nill signing guys at bargains. I could see Harley on a bridge deal for 3 years because in 3 years Seguin deal is up. Tanev and Duchene are a must. I could see Dallas signing those 3 and restructuring bottem 3 forwards and the last pair on Defense

My ideas for offseason plan.. 1. resign duschene for super friendly 2m X2 year 2. Let Wedgewood go. Bring up Murray. Reality is it’s okay to win less games, and saving money is key. 3. Sign Tanev for super dumb long term deal to save money. 3.5m for 5 years. 4. Resign harly 4m x4 years 5. Trade Faksa+Lindell + trade picks for Brady Tkchuk+retain 25% any team for picks. 5. Sign Tyson Barre or Roy for 5m x3. 6. Resign Nils Lunquest for 1m/yr for 4 years. (And lean on him heavily as 3rd pair to see if he grows). 7. Resign Sam Steel 1.5mx2 8. Buy out Suter contract. 9. Sign dmetri Kulikov for 2m x3

Lines Robertson, Hintz, Tkchuk Seguin, duschene, marchment Johnston, Benn, stankoven Steel, bourque, Dadonov (Pk, Johnston/steel+Stankoven/Tkchuk)-not Hintz, he can’t handle the extra load. Defensive pair Miro/Roy Harly/Tanev Kulikov/Nils PK miro/Roy+Kulikov/Tanev.

We looked out of gas and almost lifeless against Edmonton. The Florida Panthers are wiping the floor against them. There needs to be an addition on the front end and the back end for next year in my opinion. What’s gonna happen with the player that’s currently in Europe but he’s gonna play for the Stars next season?? I think he’s a defender, but I could be wrong.

My question is this: having gone farther than he ever has this year, do we believe Matt Duchene learned from the process and will become a more reliable distributor and scorer in next year's playoffs? My gut is to say yes. His window is getting shorter too, so I think he'll be more settled in and able to focus. You don't hear much jabber about the big contracts the past couple years. Nill has done a masterful job of adding pieces to minimize those complaints. Benn has been very valuable in bringing Wyatt and Stank along, keeping them calm and focused. Seguin has been very good in his transformation to a more complete game. If he can rediscover his accuracy he will serve us well for a few more years. Would gladly take Joshua or Marchessault, but Marchessault is going to be overpaid and likely unattainable in Dallas. Roslovic is solid and could be a good fit. I do think we can get more good mileage out of Sam Steel. I hope we can keep him around. We definitely need size and physicality with Faksa beginning to age.

With Maverick Bourque coming up and Wyatt being elite and as much as I would hate it, would you trade Roope. I love Roope and he’s a great player. But he just seems to me that he’s not a good 1st line center. More like a 2nd. Hes injury prone. Gets pushed around to much. Gets frustrated to quickly. would that be an option?
@treycarmichael3605
@treycarmichael3605 4 дня назад
i have expressed this concern myself. He is on a mighty big contract to be unavailable each spring. Not sure what his value is right now. Probably need to give him another season to grow into a spot, but i could definitely see a Robo/Wyatt/Stank top line with Roope moving down with Bourque/Seguin (or Duchy) perhaps. Has Roope ever played with Seggy? i can't even remember.
@je_f250
@je_f250 3 дня назад
Roope’s valve is good enough right now to get something good in return. He’s young, a good 2way player who might flourish with another team. He’s just to inconsistent for Dallas who’s window won’t last long. Remember Dallas traded away some guy named Jarome Iginla for Joe Nieuwendyk. I just want Roope to step up

Joe has not been a player who is used to taking the space in the front of goalie and has excellent scoring skills in that area. It affected the top line. To get the top line going, get another one who is good at doing things like Joe does.
@treycarmichael3605
@treycarmichael3605 4 дня назад
I disagree in the sense that we need to shake things up a bit. Would prefer to see a slick passer or a pure sniper on the top line with Robo and Wyatt. Marchessault would fit that bill pretty well. Sadly i don't think we can afford him even IF Duchy goes.

Skinner picked 1 series to stand on his head, and we just so happened to be on the receiving end. Plus we were run ragged from our first two series. I think LTIR reinforced Vegas, Colorado, and Dallas are all better than the oilers. Just how the seeding fell.

Looking at the Oilers and Panthers series, one thing is starting to stand out as a major difference between Florida's play compare to Dallas's play: NO Lobbing overhead to try to get ahead of the play constantly with not much result. Dallas will have to change the way they approach the game next season, it is not only about the players it is how you play the game. Florida is very successful not doing what the Stars were doing in both the Colorado and Edmonton series. Question: Will DeBoer be able to implement proper changes? Is he the one? Duchesne did not prove to anyone that he is valuable in the Playoffs, that plays against him for a re-signing. Roope has been injured for years now.

Long-time Stars fan here (since '97). Good video. Agree with your grades. Love Hintz. At times, he is almost Gretsky-like (thinking back to earlier in this regular season and last year's playoffs versus the WIld and Kraken). But... the injuries and vanishing for long periods of time. Ugh. Very excited for the Stars future. There are some gaps that need to be filled in and improved upon but I feel like this team is poised to do great things for a while.
