I have watched well over a hundred bottle repurposing videos, glass and plastics, over the past 10 years. And this project of yours is probably the most artsy beautiful and gorgeous outcome that I have ever seen. 🎉Bravo young lady.
Just thought of something that could speed up your process if you ever think of doing another wall. What if you laid out your bottles between two sheets of foam insulation with say, wire spacers in between and then poured aircrete (aerated concrete). The finish would be flawless and you could also press the bottles into the foam sheets if you wanted them to stick out slightly.
Fabulous. You did a great job. I just started making glass bricks. I bought the transparencies- thanks for the suggestion. Do you have advice for a beginner?
Be patient with yourself and make sure they are completely dry. I would suggest you not make them on humid days. I have a couple of mine that have a little moisture inside on occasion and I live in dry AZ.
It looks great. Good job. So you stated that once you used more water in the mortar mix it was easier to wipe down and smooth out the area in between the bottles? Did you have to add more mortar at times as you went up, as needed, in between bottle layers, and then smooth it out?
Sorry for the delay, I made the mortar in small batches, smoothing it out as much as possible as I went. When I was complete. I made a watered down slip with the mortar and put a layer over the rough edges for a smoother finish.
