Hi, Great video! I just want to confirm the addition of the diode, please. I have a 2013 Triton. I have installed a twin cord cable from the brake controller to the tow plug and it will be easy to pick up the brake switch (source) for the brake controller (red wire) from the brake light pin in the 7 pin tow plug to go back to the brake controller. So I will have the issue you mentioned in your video when applying the brake controller, it will feed power back to the vehicle computer. That is why the use of the diode? Could you please explain this set-up connecting the diode and the tow plug again?
It’s only an issue when you tap the emergency brake button, as that feeds voltage back into the circuit. You may find being an older car it’s fine, especially if you tap into the trailer plug wires. My 2014 GX Land Cruiser doesn’t have one on it and is totally fine.
@@JebbreysJibberish that's great news . I am rebuilding a 2019 GP1800R at the moment , it looks like water got into the engine. I bought it not running & have stripped the engine down , the starter was free spinning due to the one way clutch ( similar to the supercharger one you are spinning ) was rusted and not gripping the flywheel.
@@JebbreysJibberish if it was just the starter clutch that needed replacing it wouldn't of been a big job , but after getting the engine out I realised the engine was a little tight to turn over , so I stripped the engine down.
i just bought a cruiser and the first thing my mechanic did was remove the catch can that was on it and replaced the original return pipe. a bit of top end lube never hurt no engine.
You know I am sure 5 and 6 are overdrive, well your torque required for towing declines rapidly in 5th and 6th. Best option for highest torque is 4th gear for heavy towing. I would try lock up in 4th in your auto and compare fuel and compare performance to see for yourself. Have a look at torque in Berrima Diesel video with vehicle on Dyno and look at the Dyno results.
Thank you for providing an excellent explanation of the problem and how it was fixed! We are getting the same error code on a different model, Truma, on a different make of RV. We are in on our seventh RV since 1999. Learning that it was a manufacturer's sloppy work on the build is consistent with that being the source of most RV problems. Over 95% of our RV repairs have been directly linked to the manufacturer's lack of quality work.
I think the Provent 200 may also have had some issues on the early ones. When I ordered a new filter they asked me when I had originally installed it on my 200. They sent me a complete new catch can to install which they said had a different valve on the top. I installed the new one and have not ever had any issues, either before or after the swap over.
the 30m is a life saver its a awsome device...its very close to the vw rosstech scanning tool that i also have ..... i think its the best bang for buck scanner on the market before you head into sub $800 scanners
I just bought one from BCF for 300 bucks without the extra add-ons and I'm going to use it in a bus that doesn't go anywhere but I live in and I'll be poking the chimney out the window with a bit of creative application
In short, on diesel engines run a can with no check valve. On gasoline engines use a catch can WITH a check valve. Diesel is CCV and gasoline is PVC. Diesels vent, no need for a check valve. You can literally just run a draft tube to underneath if you want.
Currently in the process of replacing mine when I started to tighten in the bolt my engine rotated an inch or two to the right that I remember then i rememebred tigjten the bolt for the engine holder tool. I have not yet to finish the job do you think that's good caused a timing issue on my engine? The moment was very very minimal
To the right or the left? It’s a left hand thread. When the engine turned did you hear any click or clunk or anything? If not you might have got away with it. Unplug the coils and turn it over on the key first to make sure it turns over fine. If it is out the it will lock up but if it doesn’t fire it should be fine as that’s what mine did.
@JebbreysJibberish so basically when I was prepping up to remove the bolt that holds the supercharger clutch I installed the tool that's supposed to hold the gears in place so it does not move. It was not lining up with the screw hole about an inch away so I had to push the tool to the right side looking at the ending forward from the front of the jet ski if that makes sense I did not hear any noises or any clicks or sounds or anything so I hope I really didn't cause any damage that could affect the timing. I will be putting everything back together I'm testing as you mentioned. Thank you.
G'day mate, i ran a provent catch can on my isuzu Dmax for about 6 months and was always suspicious of the amount of oil it collected, and also wondered at some of the inconsistensies in the amount it caught, got pissed of with that and took it off and have never looked back since, i went back to the old belief that once you start a motor get it up to proper operating temperature even if you have to do extra kilms to achieve what you need to do, i know its a pain in the arse but in my situation where i live its really paying off, all sensers and air intake pipes, and exhaust lines are free of excess buildup, long story short, every time you use the vehicle get it up to full operating temperature regardless of distance covered, hope this helps.
Since you have the same bike as me, has it had any bad tranny problems? For mine, when I am in third gear and hit the throttle, it feels like it goes into neutral and auto shifts into 4th gear, so I skip through 3rd now. Just yesterday and today when I hit the throttle in 4th sometimes it will have a scraping sound and shake feeling until I release the throttle. Is that tranny or clutch problem?
I’ve since sold the Vulcan as I didn’t have the space for it anymore but after 10 years of owning it and nearly 100,000kms on it, it never gave me any hassles with the box. It does sound something is not right with yours though :-(
Thankfully I got it sorted but the cams had to come out and the timing chain retimed. I had a friend help me out with some cash his way. No shops wanted to touch it.
@@JebbreysJibberish I gave this a lot of thought as this gear is not involved with anything timing wise I think when you turned the crank the wrong way it loosened the timing chain probably jumping a link when tightening back up??? is this what you found?
I am a 68 year old lady with a Nissan Elgrand and had a friend mount one of these on the side for me. He mounted it above one of the sliding doors which turns out to be great because you can still get into the car behind it and also take down the little window to get your clothes out of the car. I was worried it was going to be hard to put up as I have very bad shoulders but it was so light and easy to do. I was very surprised on how easy the whole thing was to use
Great review, We have been looking at hybrids but they all seem to have very short draw bars this camper looks a little longer. If you get a moment could you tell me the distance from the face of the box to the centre of the tow hitch? I drive a cab chassis Ute and the tow bar is tucked under the tray somewhat. Cheers
Hearing that diesel lope coming from a land cruiser on a bright sunny beach, makes me question whether or not I, and American, have actually experienced true freedom. 😕🤔
I fitted a universal RCC360 kit to my ZD30 Gu Patrol, I'm really not a fan of how much pressure the hoses to & from the catch can put on the plastic crankcase ventilation fittings on both the valve cover and the intake hose, pretty sure if I do some heavy offroading or a long patch of corrugations they're going to crack & snap and the ute won't be driveable with a big hole in the air intake past the MAF. At some point I'm going to have to make a few brackets just to carry the hoses and get them out of the way. And just like you said it makes a bit of a pigsty of the engine bay, the only way I could fit the hoses was to cable tie them to the intake and heater hoses, not ideal. I also have a leaking seal on my valve cover around the #1 injector, its been letting blowby gases leak out and collect oil all over the top of the valve cover and gather as puddles around the injector tops - the only way to replace it is to replace the whole valve cover which sucks - Anyway the point is ever since the catch can's been on it seems like a lot more oil is coming past that seal - to me this suggests that the catch can is increasing the crankcase air pressure, which isn't good..
Yep. I’m still running no filter in mine. The filters are just too restrictive, I should take it off but figured it probably does something without the filter and shouldn’t be causing too much pressure .
well done, top tip. I have been using Staun for near on 20 years and never thought about this, I actually brought two sets. which clearly I didn't need...lol.. Thanks.
