Not only is Cincinnati my home team, but I would support it even if it wasn’t. We have an amazing coach, amazing players, an amazing underdog story, and an amazing community.
Not gonna lie, the 2024 Quaterfinals are set and I'm excited for the US Open Cup for the first time ever. LAFC vs New Mexico, the the winner of Seattle/Sacramento... 😛... I like it.
I won't stop following and supporting the Sounders, but USL Milwaukee in 2026 will be my closest club. I am definitely going to follow them and go to matches. It does feel good to start as a fan of a club from Day 1. Hopefully they aren't called Cream City though. www.milwaukeeprosoccer.com/name-the-club
They could've done so much more but cheap owners simply don't want to take the league to that next step. Next logical move is to start getting rid of those owners and make them sell to others that are willing to improve quality, noy just improve their pockets.
Yeah, I understand. There is definitely a strong faction of owners that do not want change. But the faction that wants to grow got a win. It's not as much as they could do for a first phase of changes, but it's better than nothing. I doubt this is the end of loosening the rules.
I like it and I completely get it (as a business owner and business perspective). Not sure why so many are hell bent on a model that has proven to fail. We don’t even have to go that far. LigaMX. No salary cap and it’s the same teams/owners sweeping every single year. Take Grupo Orlegi (Pumas, Chivas, América, Cruz Azul, Santos). This has severely put others at a disadvantage and I feel that truly stagnates the growth. On another note, San Diego cost $500 million to join. Plus the requirement of a soccer specific stadium and academy. Talking about a lot of money to gamble on a season where you spent millions and saw it flop (looking at the likes of Chelsea). I like the control growth of MLS. Certain things could be better but overall, it’s not ranked top 10/15 leagues in the world solely on its footballing.
The Timbers are driving me crazy this year... It is exciting, but infuriating at the same time. They were down 2-0 to Vancouver and stormed back only to give up the late goal to lose the point they earned.. ugh.
@@soccersentryThank you for the respond but what i would say that i like the most about AS Roma is the location, passionate fans. Badge! Especially the new one actually.
I divided this into tiers of clubs that I think are good for you to support, based on what you said. Hopefully this helps. Tier 1 - Atlanta United & LAFC Good Badges, usually fun attacking style of play, short on history, but successful. They each have passionate fan bases with high expectations. They both have ownership groups that will spend the money to be competitive. Tier 2 - Philadelphia Union & FC Cincinnati Easy teams to root for in underdog cities because they may never be the very highest spenders but they have unique and passionate fans. They both have great managers right now and I think they have better badges than the first tier clubs. Tier 3 - Columbus Crew & St. Louis City Mid-sized cities with EXTREMELY passionate fans. The badges aren’t the best in my opinion. Columbus has a ton of history, great midfield play right now (Darlington Nagbe), and just won MLS Cup. Columbus are the favorites for Supporters Shield at this point. They are very fun to watch. Cucho Hernandez is #1 in the MVP race right now. St. Louis is a new club, but has a great stadium and an extremely passionate fan base. Tier 4 - NYCFC The connection to CFG repels some people and I get that. Great city to visit obviously. They’ll have a brand new stadium in 2027. They are a club with some recent success, but may be in a bit of freefall right now with poor results and management not being able to get the best from a talented, young roster. Loyal fans though because you’d have to be loyal to support a soccer team that plays in a baseball stadium. Conclusion - If I were you, I would choose Atlanta United.
"Not a single trophy" . Have you seen the team they are assembling? They still have more moves to make and this team is starting to look like a juggernaut. Gomez and Redondo already look like two of the best midfielders in the league. I think this team will easily finish top 3 and might win the supporter shield even though they wont prioritize it. I'm very nervous about CCL though. The Mexican teams left are all strong this year.
First off, thanks for holding me accountable. In my defense, I made this prediction before the beginning of the season. BUT I do stick by it. I think predictions are only as good as their specificity and only as fun as their boldness. I wanted to take a chance and I think there was and there still is an argument for Miami going trophy-less this season. 1. I'm off the hook with US Open Cup by unfortunately technicality. 2. Leagues Cup 2023 was lightning in a bottle, Leagues Cup 2024 is right after Copa America for Messi. I think teams will have a better grasp on the tournament in general. 3. In CCC, Miami will probably have to slay all 3 giants of Mexico to win it. 4. Supporters Shield requires so much consistency throughout the whole season. Miami is talented and can smoke many MLS teams, but they are hyper-dependent on two players. You're right, Gomez and Redondo look good, but they can't carry a team to a Supporters Shield if Messi and Suarez miss significant time. 5. MLS Cup is the trophy they are most likely to win and the one, other than CCC, that they want the most. MLS Cup is the strongest point against my bold prediction. All that being said, as soon as Inter Miami wins a trophy, you have every right to spam "Not a single trophy" in the comments. That would actually be hilarious. For real, I appreciate the comment though.
Yeah, this is infinitely more brutal than the Austin FC-Violette match-up last year. I stepped away from the match for about 15 minutes after 3 - 0. I came back some time after 5 - 0. I thought, "I might as well see if any records get broken."
Personally, I would have postponed both of them, but the ball moved "well enough" in the snow compared to how it did on the waterlogged field. The League Office does make the final call.
For Montréal it's pronounced La Main (the same as English) because it refers to boulevard St-Laurent as the main street. It's the street the joins the historic English and French sides of town.
not a soccer fan but slowly getting into it but is there like a particular standard for kits and what you expect from them? or is it purely aesthetics? like what makes a good kit - cus for NBA which is my favorite sport its pretty much just aesthetics that make a jersey considered good
So, for me personally, I'd of course never buy a kit if I didn't like the aesthetics of it. But I think the best kits are those that balance the aesthetic and the concept. But there are some so aesthetically pleasing that there doesn't need to be some big reference in it. For example, the Chicago Fire red kits are so clean and iconic compared to their last few home kits, there doesn't need to be some deep meaning behind it for me. Whereas, I think Toronto FC's home kits, release in 2023, are just ugly, so that would outweigh any concept that might be behind it. On the flipside, I casually follow the Milwaukee Bucks, their Cream City jersey was a pretty simple concept, but a really nice nod to MKE architecture. But when I actually bought a Bucks jersey, it was the black Antetokounmpo jersey because I just like the look of it better. So maybe, we just have two lenses when it comes to kits, kits as visual art and kits as applied fashion.
Fun stuff. Sounds fan and love our new 50th anniversary kits. But man SKC's kits are just always in this comfy pocket of goodness in the way they use the color scheme and argyle.
