Great video, them views on Castle Crag are to die for, shame I missed them this time round. Good to bump into you mate although you guys weren't hanging around. Didn't realise Jez was riding with you, used to ride with him a few years ago before he turned to the dark side 🤣
Yeah looks like you did an epic route. I've never ridden with Jez before....he is part of a group that I've rode with a few times! They usually ride the gnarly trails but wanted something a bit different and Borrowdale was mentioned...even though I'd only just done it a few days earlier (that's this video) I was happy to do it again! Managed to clear that gnarly rock downhill bit on rosthwaite this time too although I wasn't filming...usually always have a bad line through it!
@@shannonmtb Thats funny as I automatically presumed this ride was from yesterday (as you would). I did think blimey that was quick to get it on RU-vid 🤣. Coincidental you should mention the Rosthwaite descent (AKA Puddingstone Bank) because I always clean it without fail but this time got a small stone under my front tyre which knocked me off balance just as I was dropping into the last steep roller and tight turn so had to dab and stop. Wasn't happy but hey-ho 🤷♂
@@mtbnorthwestengland only done once before and that was a few years ago and the other riders had cleared it before I saw the line. This time I was able to keep up even though they did it blind but I saw the line and smashed it. Always easier when you see someone do it 💪
@@MindfulTrailBiker perfect ebike route as you can get good momentum and planted over the rocks. A couple of rubbish climbs too for a normal bike. Always happy to have a blast when free 👍
Great ride this. We did it earlier in the year. Although we missed walla crag ! That does look a good decent. We had 2 punctures , got lost, lots of pushing ffs. And a good soaking whilst fixing 2nd puncture . Got he 2nd puncture at 5.11 on your video 😂exactly where then 2 cyclists were
@@Lazarus72 yeah so many people miss walla crag as they go up the road from Keswick but prob one of the best descents! Castle crag is renowned for punctures....so loose with sharp rocks! It's a fantastic loop though isn't it
@@shannonmtb yeah it defo is. Will defo be doing it again. I’m not sure how to get to walla crag thou from Keswick. We parked by the theatre and set of up the road. I guess walla crag comes out by the bridge , just before Surprise View. Lad we were with did it on a none e-bike. Never got of to push all the way up hornister hill to where you double back on yourself. One fit lad him.
@@Lazarus72 it's up springs road/springs wood from Keswick town centre. Yes the end is at that bridge....nearly got run over as the descent literally plops you out on the road 🤣
Nice one ! Wanting to do this ride for a while now. I don’t expect it to be easy by any means, is it rideable most of the way up on EMTB, bar the very steep section ( lower man) what sort of time did it take you to get to the top. Looks really good and well done.
@@Lazarus72 it took me about an hour to get to the top from Glenridding car park with a few pic stops but I was against the clock so was gassing it. It's not easy esp the switchbacks up after the youth hostel....very steep and loose! Lower man you can get about half way up then walk mode for 5-10 mins! I have a better video on my channel when we did in the day so gives you an idea 💪
@@shannonmtb I've ridden a couple of them but they weren't there when I lived there (moved away in '98- still go back a lot but usually head further up into the Lakes to ride). I think my mate's lad has built a couple of them 👍
Challenging that's for sure! So hard to work out though as some were so grippy and others were extreme in slick 🤣 thankfully dried up somewhat a few days after 🤣
That is the Les gets bike park on your way down to the bottom of the chair lift. 4 lines from green to black. Solid progression with only black being gap jumps.
@@skankinmike not sure I've done the old coach road although I may have....usually just follow people who know the lakes 😂 done quite a few rides in the lakes ..some others on the channel ....not sure I fancy too many hike a bike 😂 thanks for watching 😁
@@shannonmtb I'd say avoid on eMTB, it was hard work in that heat, even walk assist didn't help in the lower up section. I should maybe start recording what I'm doing!
@@skankinmike do you ride MTB and emtb? I ride both depending what I'm upto. I did the Helvellyn ride which almost got to the top of lower man but that was the only push. See the appeal of getting to other inaccessible mountains on emtb but the bike doesn't thrill me haha
@@shannonmtb yeah I do both, but live close to everything, so the eMTB now has the appeal of leaving the car at home. Did about 30 miles and 750 battery was only just under half. I now to it all so trying to work out my absolute range.
Yeah super proud of the lad for his 1st race! The climb up Janet's brae to 1st stage was about 1000ft in 4 and a bit miles so was a killer 😬 Fort track was stage 5 and optional! We didn't have a clue what it was so for the lad to get down it was really good like you say it was super wet and slick 👏
