Jim, the turkey whisperer. Those birds trust him and know he is going to give them something good. You make canning look so easy. Time consuming but easy.
Definitely time consuming but so much better than just wasting or freezing! Those birds definitely trust him, kind of sad that he'll be the one sending them to freezer camp - lol!
Beautiful video, Kathy! From you and Jim volunteering to the ride in the mountains. I do believe I’ve been on that road in TN. My hubby and I always went to the mountains of TN and NC in the fall for our anniversary. He passed away in 2015. 😢. He is still in our hearts. Have fun at Dollywood! 😊
Jim is the Turkey whisperer...enjoyed the drive...I see your instant Pot has a canning button & a pressure cooker button...mine doesn't have a canning button but it does have a pressure cooker button...can I pressure can with the pressure cooker button...also I like your canning rack for the Pot...did it come with it?
You cannot, it isn;t rated for pressure canning unless it states it in the instructions. Pressure needed for cooking is lower than pressure needed to safely can.
Only the Instant Pot Max has the canning feature. Presto also makes an electric pressure canner. I love that little canning rack too ! Got it on Amazon for like $9 I think.
Hello from Montreal. I know how hard the recovery from a hurricane is. Been there done that several times when I lived in Florida !! Kudos to you and hubby for doing your part. Well, I think I should have come to Two Turtles for a turkey this year. They were slim pickings in Montreal again this year. And we paid A LOT of money (like $50.00 CAD) for an 8 pounder that's about to go in my oven !!! Sheesh !! I'm glad all is well where you are. It may take along while to get some form of normalcy back, but you all just keep at it, because it takes a village to raise a village, no? Yes, life goes on, but if we participate in bringing back that life, that's all the sweeter !!
Thanks so much and welcome!! We definitely have the turkeys - those boogers are getting big too! That does sound like a hefty price to pay for a turkey - eek! Hope you had a great Thanksgiving!
Thank you for bringing us along on the drive. The course shown on your map made this city girl chuckle. (I'm in relatively flat northern Ohio) Pee Wee Herman movie comes to mind. lol The scenery is just beautiful. What a charming home! 3 years til retiring from nursing and would love a place like that to call home. Blessings to her and her homestead <3 ~ Jan
Thanks so much for watching! Her home was amazing inside and out! I would have filmed the inside, but didn't want to intrude too much, maybe next time!
So glad you guys are ok! I’ve just seen recently the devastation that has happened because of Helene! My thoughts and prayers are for everyone involved! We have got two more apparently after this one! Please lord help all who are in these storms path!!
Thanks so much! It's really bad in some places - I think it will be some time before the full extent of damage is even known. I pray for those in the path of these storms as well.
Haha - I saw that! They are one county over from us and I believe their water facility was heavily damaged. We've offered them a place to shower if they need it :-)
please be careful with the water last thing you need is to be like me and fall and wrecked my ankle at my age is not good and wouldnt fair well for you either hugsssssss
Hey Kathy. Happy to know you and Jim are ok. May God bless you both. It’s tragic what has happened, especially in NC. I’m from GA but where I am, we weren’t hit hard, as predicted. South GA and Eastern GA were hit hard. My son hauls heavy machinery for a living and he’s been running all week to Valdosta, GA delivering heavy equipment. My niece and her husband are getting supplies together now to take to NC in a couple of weeks. This type thing, although tragic, unites us as a country. I’m proud to be living in a country where people help people and look out for their neighbors. May God bless everyone. 🙏🏻💕
Every little bit helps. If anyone is taking things from those who really need it, I am sure there is a special bit of karma waiting for them. Bless you for helping.
Thank you for helping your community. It’s just the kind of folks you are. I cringed when I saw those cedars going in the chipper. Wishing I was ready to put up my greenhouse and raised beds. I would have offered to purchase them. Oh, well. Maybe soon. Right now we’re still looking for the right homestead and unfortunately preparing for hurricane Milton to hit. Can’t wait to leave Florida for good and hurricane season to be over in the meantime. God bless you both.
Thank you! Take care and be safe down there!! Don't worry - when you get to Tennessee I'm sure we'll still have lots of cedars and your more than welcome to have them!!
I planted broccoli in my fall garden only to have cared for it and even sung to it 😂 to find out this weekend that the rabbits had a feast with it!! I just want to have broccoli work out for me 😂!!
LOL - me too! I don't know if you ever watched SNL back in the day, but Dana Carvey had a skit where he sang "chopping broccoli' - hilarious and I sing it every time I do anything with broccoli. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--mXIL_LKvvI.html
Look forward each Sunday for a new video. I have an old Instapot. Mine doesn’t have a canning function. Gonna have to look at investing in either a new one or the Ball electric canner. Thanks for providing your recipes. Hope you didn’t get much damage from the hurricane. Helene has left death and destruction from Florida to every state north she touched. I’m in Fl and had high winds but TN and NC received the wrath of this storm. Prayers to you and everyone there.
We're fine - no damage - thank God! There was some flooding around us but we're pretty high up. It is sad all the destruction and devastation around us. The town of Newport is about 20 minutes southeast of us and got hit pretty bad.
Check out @RoseRedHomestead. Ms Pam has a great playlist where she tested all the electric canners. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-juzmXRfKOKg.htmlsi=mZV1FGPLvHAE1Zqk

We're fine - no damage - Praise the Lord! We did lose power for about 24 hours and there was significant flooding around us, but we're pretty high up so nothing came to our little valley.
