Hi I'm Melissa and this is my life! I love all thing health and fitness and I am extremely passionate about my small business that I have recently started. I started my company Boho Scrunch in 2021 but I have been sewing and designing since high school. I love being creative and expressing myself through different fabrics and textiles. I want to show you all the bts of running my business. So welcome and I hope you enjoy this journey as much as I do X
I really like the headband, it looks great. My friend has asked me to make her one and i am wondering whether to add interfacing to the main piece. Do you think that would help keep it flat on the head or would it make it too bulky? Thanks
@katgle2925 that's great. No, you definitely don't need to use interfacing. The headband sits flat. But if you want to or you use a really thin cotton it could help but it's definitely not a must have. Good luck 🙂
I'm looking forward to seeing how you make it, but it is so distracting that you keep referring to your friend, one person, as they. I don't know if I will want to continue...It's nice of you to make it for your friend, and nice for you to make a video. I just thought I would give you some unsolicited feedback. Some of us are sensitive to the woke-speak, especially when it is said over and over. You may not have even noticed that you kept saying it. You get to choose how you talk, of course, I just wanted to mention it in case you care.
Thanks for your feedback certainly didn't noticed I was saying it. I was referring to my friend as they and them because I didn't want my friend to know it was for him as the video went up before I saw him again. I wanted the fabric choice to be a surprise. I ended up making a couple for him and his wife. Referring to my friend as them/they has nothing to do with the woke community and I'm sorry if that offended you in anyway. Sorry the video may not be enjoyable for you to watch and I'll be more mindful of repeating words. Thank you 😊
Oh I glad you found it helpful. Aw, no, not at the moment, as I don't have a sewing room setup. But hopefully I'll be back soonish with some new content. Anything in particular you would like to see?
@@melissanelsonhandmade I hope you get your sewing room soon! As for content, anything business, new home, lifestyle. I live in the Netherlands, so it's always interesting to see how the rest of the world is. Hugs Diane
That's amazing. Definitely grab yourself some cheaper fabrics to just play around with. Normally, 1.5-2cm is good for a seam allowance. For scrunchies, I normally do 1-1.5cm
5:36 Hi, why are you cutting the fabric while its folded? Arent you scared when you open it that it will be all wonky? Im a newbie and getting my click and collect from spotlight 2moro! My first sewing machine!!
For the regular size, I do about 54cm (full length - or around 27cm folded) and around 10-11cm wide. Hope that helps, I also have some videos on how to make scrunchies if you need more help.
Thank you for this tutorial so grateful I ran across this! How did you get a full page of labels? Did you continue adding text boxes and typing across whole page or can you copy & paste?
Hi, I'm glad you found it helpful, I just did one row straight down the page, then copy and paste for the rest of the page. I did a test run on normal paper before using the iron on paper
Hi, I ended up cutting the pieces down to 5.5 inches long, and I used a 12.5mm drill piece. It's very tight but better than being loose. Hope that helps
@@melissanelsonhandmade hello, i know i saw how tight it was it looked perfect. i was just wondering how or the size of the pieces of sticks you stuck in the peg width wise not length, i got the length THank you for your response. CC
I’ve been wanting to learn to sew for so long (even have a sewing machine I’ve not yet used) and this has honestly given me the push to get it out and just go for it :3 altering clothes is probably a lot easier than just jumping in the deep end and making something from scratch 🤣
8:35 Yeah, I have that issue a lot where I live with the neighbours if I have the window open, some of the time, there is not a lot I can do about it as well
8:35 yea can't really do anything about noisy neighbors when what they are doing is reasonable. But maybe a mic with built in background noise reduction might help?
Thank you for taking us on this adventure, Mel. We're so lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the world, and being able to share that with other people is magical; in my eyes, anyway!
