Grossartige Musik!
While I don’t particularly care for this overlong work there is no doubting the astonishing mastery these two young professionals have over their instruments, bringing the score to vivid life. The essay “What Makes it Go”: Motion in Wuorinen’s Grand Union by Daphne Leong was published in Perspectives of New Music 56/2 (2018) and is available online. The piece dates from 1973 and not 1976.
