I think Michael set his brother up on purpose to get his V guitar from him. Rudolph seems more authentic. Michael is no doubt petty and childish. Both amazing guitarists. I love the Scorps and UFO with Michael.
Yep..I think they made an error when they shipped my epiphone korina V 2 weeks ago, they did put a epiphone logo on a Gibson V. My V just starts screaming like a horny monkey when I step on its tail..
I have the same guitar. My Deluxes has 'pancake' build....a 4 layer sandwich body (top maple, mahogany, then a sliver of maple, then mahogany back) The neck is made from three strips of mahogany. It sounds bright for sure but does lack sustain. Pete Townshend used them By 74 or 75 Gibson Deluxes were solid mahogany with maple tops ...probably sound different. Oh ..and the nitro cellulose wears off the neck
Rudolf's admitting he's not the best technically on guitar sounds like he's a humble person and not the type of guy his brother Michael claims him to be egowise.
The guitar solo in Rock You Like a Hurricane is arguably one of the greatest solos ever recorded and the fact Matthias plays it note for note live ,and his 50+ yr career and his incredible catalog of lead guitar playing is proof he should be considered a guitar god.
Michael Schenker isn't as nice about Rudolf in his interview. He trash talks him throughout his interview starting with why he left the Scorpions in the early days.
Sorry, I'm full of dumb questions, but is getting that undertone note really only from having somewhat worn out can caps, or are you just saying it somewhat accentuates it in a certain way?
Worn out caps accentuate that "undertone", but it comes due to the pretty loose filtering of the early Marshall amps. Tighter and more controlled are the metal face amps - (usually!) - and that's why guys like Uli Jon Roth etc. love their 72, early 73 amps. The Trem 50 in the video is probably more apealing to guitarists who like Eric Johnson's sounds etc.
With the JMP 50 Tremolo, does anyone know what the main differences were schematic/component wise from 68, 69, 70? Also, is the Metal Panel Vs Plexi panel on say a 68-70 JMP 50 Tremolo just cosmetic? Also, can you just pull out the Trem Tube like that to disable the circuit? Does it have any effect on noise, or sound in any way?
The owner of the amp in this video simply pulled the 12AX7 tube out of the tube socket and switched off the tremolo completely. This meant that no modification of the amp was necessary to make the Marshall sound similar to an early 1987/JTM50. Simply pulling out the tube to avoid the noise of the trem works, but also ensures that the other tubes can draw a little more current and the amp sounds a little tighter from the preamp. It is therefore advisable to experiment with the other three preamp tubes once the Tremolo 12AX7 has been removed. Components varried a lot during 67-70 - so they all sound a little different.
I love it....
Hey Tobi, herzlichen Dank. Wie immer, geil eingespielt. Ich spiele selber, aber ich kann Stunden lang zuhören wenn du den Tele spielst oder den Broadcaster
Great story. I hope they start fighting But Michael Schenker and the flying V will always be synonymous. I first saw the Scorpions twice in 3 days in 82 on their Blackout tour. The 2nd night which was outdoors and Rudolph was running around like a maniac screaming, Aaah, going mad and winding it about like he would smash it. But then he held the V straight up like Victory. it was quite moving.
It swounds like, Wow, what a beautiful guitar calls out for me to play on it. Looks great and it's only a 6 string! You sound wonderful man, really. Great.
I've got a 68 black guard, the bridge pup can be dialed up and into "ice-pick" territory. That shit will bust your brain out baby, yeah it'll make you lose your mind!
I found a 1973 gold Greco in a used shop, and the prior owner had swapped out the knobs for Gibson knobs and covered the Greco logo with a Chicago (the band) sticker. 😄 It's a great guitar, copy or no.
I had a 63D for many years. I bought it used back in the early 80s for $200 I think it was. It was wine red but like a dummy I paid someone to paint it white and put humbuckers in it and added a Floyd Rose. It was super sweet, turned out great, had a fantastic neck but kind of skinny but I eventually sold it off. Should have kept it and left it bone stock but I didn't.
