I think its funny when people give advice like "You want to do this because when you join a band and are playing music professionally it will help you!" and I'm just like... I don't want to do that. At all. That sounds horrible.
@@kurtjenkins In this particular context, I'm pointing out how you're presenting something as being the best using a reasoning that only suits a small percentage of the population. Not only will only a small percentage of people who play guitar ever do so professionally, even a given percentage of those will perform while sitting.
@@KahavaveCAPIPI I've sharing what's worked for me in the past. And what could help others if they're having a similar problem. Some people will find value in the video. Others will not. Not a big deal.
I don’t lie. It’s something I do that not many others have. I have lied in the past but the last time was like 12 years ago. I generally only trust someone who hasn’t lied in 10 years or so…. My lies were like when I was 6 years old I farted and my dad asked me if I farted and I said I didn’t, also I’ve lied a few other times like a handful together before I was 18. I’m not a liar. I was just a coward back then and I didn’t know it until I learned about the hero and the coward and how to be courageous
I’m looking into cruise ship work. I have nothing anchoring me, too much. Long days don’t bother me as long as I’m trained and compensated. Down the rabbit hole I go to find more info.
So, prove it, with science. My hypothesis is that break angle has no effect on "tension" because tension is only related to pitch, gauge, and scale length. Changing the break angle does not change any of these parameters. Go to any string manufacturer site and read what they say about string tension.
Having always been a flat pick player, I spent probably a year auditioning a huge variety of thumb picks, (including filing them down and sort of making my own) and I ultimately decided on the Bumblebee Jazz Heavy. I totally agree with your pros and cons, and it is hard to tame that sort of "bigness" out of the sound, but what killed them for me was once after around an hour of playing along to backing tracks, I looked down and my thumb had turned blue. They're too tight for me, but I think if I loosened them up they wouldn't be tight enough. C'est la vie!
So simple but genius. I just bought a Flying V and have been focused on adjusting how I hold my guitars sitting so that I could eventually stand-up and play them. This video connects so many dots. Thanks.
i have a longer torso than average and after 20 years of resting the guitar on my right thigh, i have developed a very serious chronic knot/pain on my right shoulder blade because my right arm needed to pull back in order to rest my palm on the bridge nornally. Also because of my long torso, I would hunch over a lot which caused a lot of neck pain. I have switched to the classical stance and it has helped alleviate the right arm by bringing it forward and it is now in a more relaxed and natural position. In addition, the classical stance affords me to be able to straighten my back and i dont hunch over
I’m honestly surprised to hear this considering my generation (Z) is one full of drugs and smoking weed and partying. Zero care for the world. Unless that is finally changing and my generation is growing up for once, I kinda have a hard time believing this video That said, if it’s true then I’m so glad we’re improving in at least something. Gives me hope
Honestly, there's data to confirm both outcomes. But I know several younger artists who have a much better head on their shoulders when I did back in the day. And the ones who use less will most likely be more successful.
Most drugs increase your dopamine levels alot. The problem is, when youre back to level, it feels crummy and mundane. The goal should be feeling good and satisfied with a clear head
I think the video is back to front. Classical guitarists have worked out the best posture to play the guitar. The real question is how do you play standing up with good posture.
Standing up is harder because you tend to move with the music more. And "rockin' out" doesn't always make you want to stand up straight. I don't much attention to my posture when I play a show. Because I want to get lost in the music.
@@kurtjenkins Like a standard pick fixed to the thumb part. A light one is good for switching between finger & thumb-picking and strumming, whereas I find the Bumblebee is not really a strummer. Some people might find that the stud on the Bumblebee catches the string, but I'm fine with it, either Medium or Heavy, as my go-to thumb pick. That adjustable angle makes a difference. I turn it just a few degrees & glue it in place. You can't do that with the Black Mountain. If anyone finds that either brand refuses to stay in place on the thumb, I recommend Nexcare Absolute Waterproof Foam Tape. A small piece on the thumb nail works wonders and it lasts a whole session.
I personally am really interested in the process of film making, but I also enjoy the interaction of the film maker to show more insights into not just How, but Why, the motivation behind the different films, so I’d say I prefer the daily/ weekly in your face updates!!! It helps understand the entire undertaking!!🎬👍👍
I once experienced synesthesia playing drums while on mushrooms in my twenties :) No wait that’s not synesthesia 😂 What’s the one where you see colors from the sounds… 🤔 I’m blanking now.. No wait… I was right! Hahaha. For some reason the definition I first saw didn’t seem apt. Anyway!
Ill just leave some more comments while I’m checking out the channel haha. I used to live about an hour away from Montauk. Yeah, well… the future does not look so good to me. So much corruption and parts in their wrong places generally, out of the full equation. 2020 was eye opening to me just how so many people think… and typically wrongly… I mean I already had a good idea about things but that was like bammmm, undeniable. The good things… hmm haha. There are good things too but I can just see the whole equation and it doesn’t seem at all sustainable or positive for a lot of people. It’s complicated. I often find things are complex and simple simultaneously, haha. I don’t know if I’m sounding like a crazy person now but I truly do not care anyway. Alright peace dude ✌🏼
I did this to learn gematria of the killing name from Slipknot and now I fucking crush it. One of the fastest picking face melting riffs I’ve always wanted to play.
Every muscle movement in his body was in perfect natural motion to the music. Until you learn to let yourself go and FLOW with the music you'll never get it!
I just watched Steve Earle play for 2 hours and never take this pick off his thumb. He played an acoustic guitar, a 12 string, a mandolin, and an bouzouki with it. He’s not a subtle player, but he sounded amazing. The feel of a pick is a mysterious thing.
