Thats the last thing you want when you start for a trip in the Amazon Jungle. Like sitting in a crowded luxery bus driving through the Bronx in NY showing how special and dangerous it is. Assimilate to the inhabitants, buy a ticket for one of the numerous boats and leave at one of the small towns and villages to experience the real atmosphere in the Manaus region, not in a bubble of comfort used tourists on standard routes.

Hello, I was robbed in this motel. I used to stay in the motel almost twice a year, and the last time I stayed, I only had four single bags that I used. It had my belongings in it. Some of those bags had gifts for my family. The people who work in cleaning the rooms are professionals in stealing. They took advantage of my leaving the motel and entered. They opened the bags and stole many things as gifts for my family, including a watch, headphones, tablets, clothes, accessories, and perfume bottles. When I arrived home after leaving, I opened the bag and discovered the theft. I contacted the hotel management and they told me we would investigate the matter, but no one contacted me. My name is Ihab Haniyeh I advise everyone who wants to go to Amman not to go to the Bristol Hotel, the place is completely unsafe!

Lovely options of apartments to choose from.. I have thoroughly enjoyed this tv series (and especially the international series!) for so long now, that I couldn’t guess as to the number of years❣👏👍 Although I must say that when it comes to the ‘guess/ participants’ what amazes me esp after all of the years this show has existed, is how unrealistic the expectations are.. as to what the properties (esp incl those in countries which usually are nowhere near as well off/ typically do not have easy access to many of the taken for granted widespread amenities, etc.. etc! (viewers are well aware of the many differences!). One would think that prior to making large, significant changes in their lives, such as choosing to live somewhere.. possibly halfway across the world, where there’s quite possibly/probably differing construction.. materials.. availability of some items/ incl time frames to receive if/when ordered, etc etc... that expending some effort doing one’s own *research* would a logical.. ‘Must!?!’ esp nowadays where info on nearly any-everything can be found fingertips computer!? Yet so often lack of realistic expectations remain! Admittedly I wondered if the woman in this episode was Ever?! going to stop whining about not being able to find one with a “Walk-in Closest!!” answer: NOPE! she kept it up, right to the very end of the show, with her last ‘sentence’..being yet another dig’ on no walk in closest! FFS! I mean, what a Travesty! I soooo ‘felt her pain/loss!! Not! LoL!😉

Hi Cheri and thanks for visiting our channel. I don't normally comment back on the House Hunters show but it's been enough time since the taping that I thought I would. House Hunters likes controversy. This was explained to us by the Director. If the show gets people talking about it (good or bad) they feel it's a success. Our show was very successful with lots of replays due in part to people talking about the walk in closets. Believe it or not, my wife only mentioned walk in closets once or twice. Through the magic of editing, they inserted it in many places. And ask her to say it again a few times. They knew that would create discussion. In fact, this is technically "staged reality" meaning we were already living in Ecuador 6 months before we started filming. We had to move all the furniture out of our apartment so it looked like it was empty. All that said, I realize how she came across in the show so your comments are fine. We absolutely knew what to expect when looking for an apartment. Having traveled to over 30 countries, we are very comfortable with not having everything we left in the US. And as an fyi... both our places we lived in Ecuador had walk in closets. :) Thanks!

@@RetireEarlyAndTravel I’m glad to know this.. however I am sorry to hear that you signed up for what they apparently added on to your search for a place to live.. I mean it is such totally unnecessary ‘drama’ .. especially when people are desirable of living in new locales/ wanting to experience new cultures, environments.. makes the show a hit.. not trying to turn it into yet another ‘forced drama puzzling to say the least. I’m somewhat surprised I’d even bothered to comment.. it’s not my usual, mostly post positive and encouraging words. I think bc there’s been an increase in what at least appears to be spoiled behaviours/ expectations.. it seems like it’s just starting to become like yet one more overdone ‘reality’ show.. anyway, glad you’re enjoying travel and things worked out!😉cheers from 🇨🇦👍

For a camera, we wanted something with a long optical (not digital) zoom. Since we knew we'd be taking a lot of nature photographs. We have a Lumix DC-ZS70K. It has a 30x optical zoom. We also shot video with it. We would also recommend some sort of underwater camera. Even if you get a inexpensive single use underwater camera. There's so much to see underwater. We had a GoPro Black 7 that we used. I hope that helps!

Actually, its the same path. So sometimes you are having to pass others and need to be very careful. Sometimes, it's single file, so you need to let someone come up some stairs before you head down. Good thing is most people go up in the morning so by the time you head down, there are not many coming up. And don't remember going to all fours going down. Just going up. Thanks for watching!

Paso was always our weekend go to place from the Bay Area 3-6 times a year. Such an easy drive down 101. Now we live in Oregon on the coast which is very nice, but we miss Paso. That little river may be part of the Amazonian region (Amazonia) but it's not THE great Amazon River. The Amazon passes mainly thru Perú and Brasil and a bit thru Colombia, but absolutely not thru Ecuador. When you stand on the banks of the Amazon the opposite bank's over the horizon
@RetireEarlyAndTravel
@RetireEarlyAndTravel 2 года назад
You are correct. We were on a tributary of the Amazon river called the Napo River. However, the title is a little misleading. It's a "river cruise" through the Amazon Jungle (which is in Ecuador). An Amazon, River Cruise. Thanks

Immediately I saw problems which affect safety on the river, and hence people's lives: 1. The flat bottomed boat is top heavy. A disturbance by a large river creature or collision with another boat could cause the vessel to capsize. Most passengers on board would die from direct drowning, or attack by the numerous river predators. 2. No lifeboats. This is worse than the Titanic. 3. The jungle hikes are dangerous. If the guide is attacked and killed, how will the rest of the party get back. Are they navigation literate. Do they even know where they are. The survival kit on them is insufficient should there be an emergency. Who is the Medical Officer? Is there even one? In summary, this river cruise company offers the Amazon wrapped up in cotton wool.
@RetireEarlyAndTravel
@RetireEarlyAndTravel 3 года назад
Let me address some of your concerns. The flat bottem boat is very stable. We had people moving in and out all day and never felt it unsteady. Those boats are very sturdy. In the river where we were, there are no large creators that could tip over the boat. And we never saw another passenger boat on the river during our trip other than the 2nd boat used in our cruise ship. So a collision would be very rare. Remembe that we are in South America, not Africa. We were aware of no animals that could kill you in the river. As for Lifeboats, they had them on the river boat. You just may not have noticed them on the top deck in our video. Also keep in mind that the river is not very wide. Making any evacuation to the banks a very easy swim. Lastly the jungle hikes. Again, I think you are confusing where we were with some parts of Africa. Sure there are poisonous snakes and insects and the occasion puma but the danger is very low. Our jungle hikes were near the bans of the river so it was always easy to get back to the boat. And we were on trails. So it was simple as follow the trailer back the other way to get to the boat. And there was not a doctor on the ship. Just first aid trained people. But that is the risk you always taking going out on any back country adventure.
@LaHayeSaint
@LaHayeSaint 3 года назад
@@RetireEarlyAndTravel Dear Retire Early, thank you for your rapid response. My purpose is not to gain "Brownie points" or to besmirch your company, but solely to consider safety issues in a beautiful but very hostile environment: 1. The boats remain top heavy and are unlikely to be be counterbalanced by a keel of sufficient depth, simply for the reason that this is a river vessel. Collision with flood debris such as many large fallen trees could topple the boat. Do the lifeboats function from a capsized vessel and are all crew proficient in their deployment? 2. To say there are no predatory creatures in your part of the river is an irresponsible statement. The Amazon is abundant in a plethora of river monsters which can kill, eg, green anacondas, electric eels, fresh water tiger sharks, huge catfish, Cayman, carnivorous fish and so on. You should retract that simplistic and inaccurate statement. 3. Simply trekking in the Amazon is always dangerous. If the lead guide is bitten by a poisonous snake, you have an emergency. If the person at the back of the single file is attacked by a jaguar, there we have another emergency. Are these expeditions in continuous radio contact with the mother ship? Is at least one firearm available for self preservation. Is there a rehearsed plan for location by air if a real emergency arises, eg, firing a flare with orange smoke? You may think I am overcautious, but it pays to be so as this is the Amazon. In this way, hopefully, you can minimise risks, and should an emergency arise, be far better prepared than most.
@nicksluder4764
@nicksluder4764 3 года назад
@@LaHayeSaint those boats will just simply not tip over from a collision with any obstructions in the river, like tree branches or even rocks an such. At the slow speeds they were going, it just wouldn't happen. It would have to be going much faster and have all the weight from all the passengers on one side of the boat, then hit a big solid boulder or tree in just the right or (wrong) way for that to happen haha and while it is possible, it's very unlikely honestly. Otherwise they wouldn't be using them, think about how many trips they've made already where that didnt happen, and all the other people along that whole entire river that also use those same boats. If it was even close to as much of a possibility as you make it seem then those boats wouldn't be used by sooo many people all over the place. Logically, it just doesn't add up. Not trying to argue or anything just sharing my opinion

@@nicksluder4764 Nick -- Apologies for the late reply. Under normal circumstances, what you say is most likely to be true. But it takes just one freak incident (remember the Titanic) to tip the scales and indeed the boat. There are many things in life which remain accidents waiting to happen. We must only hope and pray that the probability it does not happen remains high. If you fall into that water (the murky brown waters of the Amazon), then you need to say your prayers really fast.
