The real tragedy is the SEAL leadership that covered this up for like 15+ years. A number of SEALs even refused to sign off on OKing Chapman's Medal of Honor request because they knew it would be an admission that they left him there. In fact, the SEALs only agreed to sign off on Chapman's Medal of Honor request only if one of their own got one too. Brit Slabinski is the SEAL (and he's standing up there) who also got a MoH that day - a brave dude no doubt, but he was given one because the SEAL leadership wasn't going to just OK an Air Force MoH without one of their own getting one too, despite the fact that Chapman is the one who literally saved those SEALs lives that day. It's a crime that Chapman's actions were covered up by the Navy (largely to hide the fact that the operation that THEY led was an absolute disaster) and only after the drone footage came out did they have no choice but to admit Chapman was the real hero that day.

Ultimately: Chapi didn’t die for an ideology. He didn’t die for any political stance. He died for his brothers and comrades in arms. It is a shame of both sides to make a political statement of his sacrifice.

Navy must be embarrassed that it couldn’t keep his MOH blocked. Now people are aware of its cover up of its flaws. Could’ve just owned them but no, it needed to look good and prevent those who were truly courageous from getting the deserved medal.

I have been crying for an hour at these medal of honor ceremonies and coming off of Obama and Mr. Carpenters' MOH ceremony. I'm 45 seconds into Trump speaking and I'm laughing uncontrollable and I am not sure if that is a good or bad thing HAHHAHAH.
