Uk drill is a combination between Dj L style chicago drill beats and grime. When DJ L made his sounds he combined chicago footwork, trap, and marching band music together. Grime took influence from chicago footwork music. The main difference between DJ L's sound and modern UK drill is the heavy 808 slides. If you listen to DJ L's productions like lil bibby - make em madder, lil herb - gangway, S. dot - 3 much (call me dotarachi), Lil herb - cashin, lil bibby - know something, you'll hear where UK drill got it's main influence from.
