Design assistant is a very poor piece of software. It's OK for small jobs, but if you have large assemblies, it is very time-consuming. "YOU HAVE TO RENAME EACH PART SEPARATELY." There are also pitfalls. I always just use copy, rename the copy, and then move the new copies from the folder into a new folder. Be careful if you pack and go then rename, because the parts you rename in the pack and go folder are not renamed the original parts in the original folder are renamed unless you change the path every time you rename a part. This is never explained in tutorials....
Very well and in detail explained. Worked on AutoCAD Electrical for 4 years but some of the things I learnt today to reduce the extra work. Thank you so much !!
Thanks for the video. Is there a preferences options where you can customize the left > right window selection to function the same way as the right > left window selection?
It´s an old video and i dont know if there is anyone to answer. i have a problem with matching Bolts and flanges. In DIN standard we have different types of flanges. I want to set three different types in one Pipe Class. I want to know how can i set a flange with correct Collar ring and correct boltset.
After adding all the desired bolt sets to a spec, you would set the Part Use Priority for each pipe size to get a particular set with a flange. Also, after placing a flange, you can use the substitute feature to swap between bolt sets. But using Part Use Priority in the spec sets one as the default. Hope this helps.
@@Hagerman_brettbarkman Thank you for your fast response. I knew this method. The problem is that we are a great design team and i am not sure that all the teammates do it correctly later. It seems there is no other way. 🙏
in infraworks 2022, 2023, the lane markings (right turn arrow) only work for US roads. for UK or any other left side roads, i couldnt find anything to make the arrows on the left side of the road. is there a solution to this?
It’s true that in InfraWorks, the default lane markings (such as right turn arrows) are primarily designed for US roads. There may be a Great Britain package, but if not ⬇ However, there are workarounds to create custom lane markings for other regions: 1. Import Polygonal .shp Files: o You can import polygonal .shp files as coverage areas. o Style these areas in white or yellow to represent lane markings. o Keep in mind that coverages will snap to the terrain elevation by default, so you might need to adjust offsets to position them above the road surface. 2. Create Lane Markings in Other Programs: o Use programs like Civil 3D, AutoCAD, or 3ds Max to create the desired lane markings. o Export them as meshes. o Import the custom lane markings into InfraWorks. 3. Modify Lane Markings on a Component Road: o In InfraWorks, select a component road. o Right-click the road and choose Pavement Markings > Modify Lane Markings. o Adjust the lane markings using the in-canvas tools.
I'm only just finding your video now. Pretty good. I've been limping along trying to find documentation on Python programming for Plant 3D. For example, the parameters can accept an Ask4Dist=True/False value, but it's not documented anywhere I've found. Your demonstration included use of the setPoint method, and I've somehow found a setLinearDimension method as a means of having a movable point on-screen to update Python parameters. No good documentation on this. There's sparse information on using Custom versus Parametric ComponentDesignations. I have programming successfully supports and piping components, but all parameter-driven. I'm trying to find means of, for example, reading a flange-thickness from an existing or connecting part, when placing and drawings studs. I know that this is not out of box, but, the length required for a stud is being determined at some level when parts are being place. I'm trying to replicate and/or replace the out of box method. Any feedback is welcome.
Thank you for your comment and for watching our video! We're glad you found it helpful. We understand that documentation for Python programming in Plant 3D can be challenging to find, especially for specific features like Ask4Dist, setPoint, and setLinearDimension methods. Hello, after using the Design assistant, a big inconvenience happened to me. (I renamed one part of the assembly in DA) Since then, when I open this assembly in Inventor, all the references are lost, if I determine them again and show him where the referenced files are and save it, then when I open the assembly again, the references are missing again . I'm really desperate. Confused Any information on this problem would help me. Thanks for the tips, experience, knowledge on this issue.
We're sorry to hear that. Here is our support page, just send us a detailed message on what is wrong and we will try to help you out! www.hagerman.com/contact
Vault only supports the same level of CAD or within two releases back. Vault 2024 only supports CAD 2024, 2023, and 2022. Vault 2025 only supports CAD, 2025, 2024, and 2023.
Thanks, Its extremely useful for a scheduler to generate 4D/5D schedules. Just a quick check, do we need Navis work Autodesk license to work on this as the Navisworks Freedom 2024 version doesn't shows options of adding tasks
Navisworks Freedom 2024 is a free viewer and doesn’t require a license to use, but if you need to perform tasks beyond just viewing, such as model coordination, clash detection, or other advanced features, you will need a licensed version of Autodesk Navisworks. I am currently a mechanical maintenance technician with a process company in Nigeria. In March, last year, I lost a very good mechanical process piping engineer trainee job opportunity simply because I had no knowledge about AutoCAD drawings at all. I am currently training myself in AutoCAD drawings on youtube and today, i am pretty versed with 2D and 3D AutoCAD drawings, command tools e.t.c. Right now, I am trying to train myself to becoming a mechanical process piping designer/engineer. How relevant is blocks, especially dynamic blocks to the drawing and modelling activities of a piping designer/engineer. I just want to be sure that I am on the right path and that my efforts at learning and understanding the concept of dynamic blocks will be very expedient and handy in piping and equipment designing and modelling, quotations, routing e.t.c. because that's my end goal. Please, If you have advice or videos that will help me easily and quickly achieve this goal of mine, please help me with them and I will very most grateful for the assistance. Thanks!
@@OnyekachukwuNwani-mj9ph For any industry that uses symbology to convey information, such as the piping or electrical or civil industries, AutoCAD Blocks streamline the drawing production by treating a group of objects as 1 entity. This eases selection, placement, mass editing, etc of the unified object(s). Dynamic Blocks can be used when multiple configurations such as size changes, design or status changes (open valve vs closed valve), or positional changes are considered.
Hi, i have inventor 2016, and cfd 2016 .. that is what available for me .. i could not find any link for autodesk nastran 2016!! .. i found free downloads for autodesk nastran 2017, 2018, 2020, 2021 but i need the 2016 version. Any help here.
Hey there, great video. 23:00 mark, how do you add running dimensions. I get they're on the part drawings but want to show on Assembly drawing. Thanksin advance.
Thank you, its a superb and knowledgeable video, i was really struggling with Python in Autocad, but understood most of the steps through this video. great descriptive video.
Great Video , I make the training on student version, when I make the new folder and copy and drag , the advance steel program is closed , Please advise.
I've done it before. But currently having a very hard time selecting the cyan data fields. Just can't seem to select them.......update...figured it out. Had to turn off "Selection Cycling"
How do you get the bend lines in inventor nesting as well as bending text details? How do you change and control the layer? This is just a simple example of how to do nesting.
