When Prudhommes' Wet & Wild first opened the St. Catharines Standard had a company picnic there. I never went down the water-slide and don't remember a go-cart track or I would have wanted to try it. And admit it, DJI Phantom, you didn't film it you made a video.
The waterpark was called proudomes wet and wild, it was located one the QEW in Vineland at Victoria Ave. Since the video was shot it was been bulldozed and they are building Houses there. I hope this helps :)
Ohh the old memory.. Go kart track. The 2 water slides.. The wave pool. And kid land. Water bumber karts.. A huge arcade . and haunted house.. It was amazing
Great footage! Looking at the site today, the saddest part is realizing how many mature trees were clear cut, clearly years before any real work on this land's redevelopment is to begin. When the Town of Lincoln issued the demolition permit for the old buildings and water slide, they could have stipulated all the mature trees to be protected, until an official site plan for this property is approved. The benefits of these trees for the existing wildlife and for their ability to help combat climate change should have been a priority. Whatever tree policy Lincoln now comes up with, won't be worth the paper it's printed on. The dump site you see there today, will be with us for years!
Shit looks great how far can it get away from what height and air speed if you don’t mind sharing the info I could get it from the site but first hand is the best and this looks kick as and fun as fook
I wonder why they kept the white one there and there is a few pieces of the two blue ones left, though unsure if it's from both or just one of them as they were right next to the white one and each other.
+New2flight i am changing out the cheap 12amp speed controls for good quality 20amp speed controls, have not been able to record yet I put the sd card in and hit record the light turns red but no footage is recorded 😎✌🏼️
Ah my childhood. I almost died here twice as a kid. The park used to have 3 slides, two blue ones and that big white one. (Don't know why the white one was left behind). The main issue with the blue ones was there no guard on the waiting platform that would keep you from falling off the edge of the side. One day I went up to the middle blue slide and slipped almost toppling to the trees below, the lifeguard sitting there just asked if I was okay, but it was a pretty breathless moment. The second time I was in the wave pool and was sitting to close to the jets that push the waves, the lifeguard didn't say anything and when they went on I sucked in water and panicked. I grabbed the nearest thing near me which was the ladder. Then the guard noticed and told me to get off the ladder, my sister was screaming next to me at him that I was having trouble breathing, but he kept demanding I let go of the ladder. Another time we went there my sister broke her wrist on the middle blue slide. This place was plagued with injuries and fires, that's why it closed.
I will never forget going to plant two and seeing my dad come out in those signature fm overalls to give him a hot lunch over the fence, I know it sounds weird but it's something I will always remember... And the tours every 7 years lol
So sad to see my city being ripped apart by the loss of one of our most renown manufacturing facilities in North America, the loss of GM will be missed by so many past employees and current younger generations, the last 30 years for our fair city has been in a steep decline and losing GM Ontario street will never be the same. We need more infrastructure and long term high end manufacturing back in Niagara.
Another city icon shall parish like so many others that have followed the same path. The vanishing industrial peninsula that died an agonizing slow death so many witnessed. Once the heartland of industrial dominance is just a memory now. My youth was here but I had to leave and not by choice, but to survive. Far too many closed there doors but the scares remain. Gone are the jobs and friends, however our memories will always return to better times when life seemed so much easier. Please remember all that we had, all that we loved and all that we held so dear. After we are gone only the pictures remain.
