I like this watch a lot, and I'm not active at all on water😂 But I'm very active in fitness, was thinking between fenix 7 pro ,which is better for fitness, and this one ,looks much better. Maybe it'll push me to the water more😁💪
Thanks for the very informative video. I guess I will be able to still afford to buy the boat. I just have to be careful with the way I actually use it.
Hi there, another good informative video. I have a Thrust me too, I purchased the additional external battery lead, as it they said you could clip onto an external 12v battery . I have a little 50amp lithium. But it simply wouldn't run the engine at all. Tried contacting Thurst me, but there customer service is no existent. The actual additional Thrust me battery is so expensive. Have you tried with power lead and your own 12v ?
Great info, how long does it take to charge and do you use a generator to do it ? I recall you had a portable genset how does that work for you? Cheers Phil
Hi Phil, yes we've got a portable generator but sorry I haven't tested that. It would be several hours depending on how depleted the battery was. Test for another day.
It is very weak acid but yes it could be a problem in a marina. I believe all the teak cleaners are a weak acid of some sort. Maybe someone knows another product??

A day trip from the Gold Coast? I must have missed something because I live near Coochie at Victoria Pt and I can drive that distance comfortably in around one and a half hours or less depending on traffic levels.
Love your informaive videos. A couple of questions. Wondering where you had the mozzie screens made? Also do you have press studs on the outside to keep tight? If you had a choice of replacinng your boat which Merry Fisher smaller / larger size or other boat brand would you buy?
Hi, mozzie screen was custom made by a canvas guy. Hook, line, trimming on the gold coast. Yes it uses the press studs for the storage covers to keep it tight. We would probably move up to a 1095 if money no option. A little bit of extra space. We've been very impressed with Jeanneau
Hello Damien, thank you for this! I am having same wear and tear issue and was thinking about going with stamoid as well. Do you think your contact can make the same exact fitting (top only - no need for enclosure) ? Or did they come out to custom make it on your boat?
Hi, we are happy with the stamoid. I'm not sure, they did come out to make an exact fit BUT we wanted everything to fit with our mesh enclosures. Give Shane a call at Hook, Line Trimming. Say you watched the video hahaha. Hope it goes well
Nice, we also fitted a flushing system to our 895S2 (well MWM fitted it for us). Bit simpler as it is a recessed port that a bayonet pushes into to turn it on. No taps. Also the mercury engines we have are a bit easier, they have a hose fitting permanently fitted… and high enough I can lean over the back chair and plug in the hose so no need to climb over engines. The system can even act as a deck wash if needed. As we keep our boat on a mooring it certainly makes it more convenient. T
In the UK. Have ordered extra battery but due at end of July. One problem I can foresee is that it is easily stolen! The kicker can be locked but not the extra battery. Must remember this when leaving dinghy unattended.
Yes I have thought that as well. I take the magnetic 'key' AND the throttle control with me which makes the motor fairly useless. But someone might only realise that AFTER they have taken it. You can padlock the transom screws as well.
@@TheRudder Yes but the extra battery is easily stolen since there is no way to lock it. I shall just have to remember not to attach the extra battery if the tender is to be left for some time. I guess there is a limited market since the Kicker is not yet popular, it will be in the future no doubt though it’s a great motor.
@@TheRudder Never mind, you’ve missed my point. The motor can be locked to the boat but not the extra battery. I guess it’s no different from the Torqeedo where the battery can be stolen without the motor. Anyway I as said the Kicker is a great product.
Hola !!! Para la Merry Fisher 695 del 2020 de la Rocna Vulcan que peso me aconsejas y que no toque la tapa del pozo del ancla !!!! Muchas gracias!!! Saludos Luis
Hi, great reviews. I've watched a lot now. How hot do you find the cabin in summer when at anchor during the Australian summer in the 795 or 895 (series 1 or 2) thanks.
I haven't anchored in the 795 but have a lot in our 895. We have two fans in the bow cabin and one in the mid cab. The cabins have a good amount of air movement in them and generally we can sleep through most night without trouble. Only the really hottest nights with high humidity are uncomfortable. Definitely need fans though.
@TheRudder thanks for the reply. Are the fans hard to install later? I'm looking at second hand boats that don't have the fans installed. Also how much roughly does a bimini and side cost for the back?
@@Karijini-x6w I didn't do the install but they aren't too hard. Just need to run the wires. The Bimini and storage covers were just under $5k aud. A bit more than I expected
Thanks Karon, we chose the 895 for a few reasons, outboard power -was sick of servicing inboards; the amount of space in a small vessel and the ability to go away and stay on anchor for several days. Liked it way more than the Antares and Avor that in a similar bracket.
I have 200 feet of anchor chain and my method of marking is very simple. One white link at 30 feet, two white links at 60 feet and three white links at 90 feet. Then one red link at 120 feet, two red links at 150 feet and finally three red links at 180 feet.
In the UK and much of the EU a big difference is you can trailer the 695 on a basic car licence, but the 795 just hits the threshold of needing a HGV (Heavy Good Vehicle) licence. It's why the 7m versions of boats (and the Antares 7, Parker 700) or the smaller versions are so incredibly popular in Europe. If you're not trailering but leaving dockside, dock rack, or you're trailering in a country where it's legal (I've heard some parts of US, Canada, Australia) the larger versions offer SO much more.
@the rudder Well done video on installation and the equipmetn. It would be great to hear how the audio is. The sub itself has only 120W RMS (600W peak), your sub delivers 4 x 65W at 4 ohm which means by using channel 3+4 in bridged you should have enough RMS to drive the sub.
There is enough to drive the sub especially for our purposes. Not looking for night club volumes! I did try to capture it but got copyright infringements!!
You can not stream Spotify without your phone, however you can download playlists to you watch and play without your phone. This means you can go for a run, play your Spotify playlist to your Bluetooth headphones, without your watch. Garmin watches don't have a SIM card (like apple), but the battery lasts for weeks, rather than day/s.
I'm planning on a NC895 series 2 boat in 3-4 years and I thought I had prices budgeted but I missed a few so I just wanted to say THANK YOU!!! I really do enjoy your videos....I plan on using my boat on the Columbia River in Oregon, USA. Have a wonderful day. Thank you again. 🚤🛥⛵🚣
My Takacat is rusting! The transom tubes of the open transom are made of stainless steel 304 (V2A) (also for cost reasons). The tubes show ugly rust after a short time in a salt water environment. From my point of view, the maintenance is very time-consuming and is not reasonable for me. Unfortunately, I only found out about this disadvantage of the high maintenance effort after the purchase. For me, this product is not recommended for salt water environments. I am very dissatisfied and disappointed with the Takacat 340 LS for the above reasons. It does not meet my expectations and, in my opinion, is only partially suitable for my application as a full time yacht tender. I quote from Takacat's care instructions: 1. A first care step when driving in salt water is washing the transom tubes at the end of a trip with fresh water (fresh water) including thorough drying. 2. The insides of the transom tubes can be pulled through with an extra-long bottle brush. 3. If corrosion has formed, it can be removed with a stainless steel cleaner. 4. If you drive permanently in salt water, it is advisable to spray the transom tubes and optional slip wheels with a seawater-resistant stainless steel protector. Are you aware of that issue? Best regards Xaver
Thank you so much, Damian! Great review, and good quality recording / lighting. My question is whether this is the Quatrix 7 Standard? That is the unit I'm considering for regatta sailing. It is also the cheaper one in the series that applies to my intended use. You mentioning that "it is blowing a bit" shows a difference of opinion on that windy bit ;o) I would want it to really blow! If the wind is up, us multihull sailors are out on the water. Often out of sight. Cheers! Marc
Hi Marc, this is the Quatix 7 Sapphire. Which I think is now called Pro. I would ensure that the unit you are looking at has AMOLED display. It really makes a difference, especially in low light and night conditions. As a stink boat we are always looking to hide from the wind, exact opposite to sail🤣🤣. I'm not really familiar with performance race sailing but there are a few activities on the watch dedicated for racing. Hope that helps.
@@TheRudder Thank you ever so much. Useful information. I'll ensure the unit I select will have the AMOLED display. Your video and response have certainly helped!
Anything trackable by GPS, speed over ground, bearing, race timer etc. plus youve got the other activities. BUT there are other Garmin brand that will offer the same.
A couple cups of vinegar, water and some dawn dish soap to make it sudsy, it really draws out the dirt.then star brite deck sealer.....I have all teak decks I've tried all the products, vinegar works best
