59 years in Elyria. Born in Oberlin 1964. You showed a photo of my grandparent's home in Amherst next to the gas station. Wonderful video. Thank you so much. ❤❤ Adding: I thought the airplanes taking off may have been either the "Elyria Airport" Middle Ave. or the "Lorain County Regional Airport" Russia Rd.

I think I was in that class of Moons, there's Terry Thompson, Kevin Mccarthy, Joe Henry and Reiner. Who did this video, it was a good memory, thank you.
6:53 the car chase that ended up crashing into Loomis. I miss Loomis. I would go there and buy coins off of him back in the 90's. Great guy and had great deals.
Wonderful post. I was born in Lorain at St. Joseph hospital in 1948. At 3 we moved to Flora, then to Ft. Wayne, Indiana and finally to San Mateo, California in 1956.
What does Pearl Jam have to do with Lorain County!? I get the song but is there a real reason I am seeing them in the video? Like I am pretty sure none of them are from Lorain County. Just use the song.
IMHO the metro parks remodel has nearly destroyed Cascade Park, you no longer can drive through the park, the ford to Elywood Park is gone and more bonehead decisions,. I grew up sledding down the hill (now destroyed to build access road) swimming in the city pol and visiti rhe bears , the cooler and climbing the rocks, playing on the fire engine and more.😢
I left this area nearly 40 years ago, When I came back to stay, wow what a difference with time passing. Thanks for the memories. I'm still trying to figure out what they were thinking when I drive along the north of the RR crossing section of Broadway.
Hello! I am a film maker and content creator from Elyria OH. I am working on a documentary on the City of Elyria. I would love to talk with you to discuss it! Love your videos.
At 7:50, that's me sitting on the skateboard with my best friend. Really enjoyed the music at the beginning too. The Dukes theme song with that poor guy going to jail couldn't have been better.
I remember being in the yearly kids club and having a shirt every year. I remember my last shirt was brown and my mom put all my transformers iron ons that you would get in every transformers toys box. And sitting on top of the hill and getting a cut on my wrist that still has a scar. I was probably 8. So 1985 or earlier.
Elyria born & raised but I moved along time ago. Cascade park was my escape from my narcissistic parents. I remember when they had a pool and a gutted out fire engine. I remember the bears and rolling down the hill. My sister went to school with some of the kids who spray painted the Pink Floyd rock. I remember the bears. A friend I went to school with drowned there. I was recently there and it looks nothing the way I remember it. But I have a lot of memories.
For many years, the condition of Cascade Park declined. What had once been the foundation of Parks and Recreation within our city, had declined. Recently the park has gone into a partnership with the City of Elyria and Lorain County MetroParks. While it looks different from our childhood memories, the county has altered its appearance. While some may say that they ruined it, they did what was necessary for the present and future members of our community to make their own memories in Cascade Park.
