WTF is with all of these reviews where no one puts on the helmet and rides? How does it feel, how does it perform at different speeds? Ie wind noise, ventilation , long ride comfort and all the rest.
I have had my 800 Re for 2 months now, I agree with Mossy lovely engine, vibrations no different to other bikes, just returned from the isle of Man, handling was very good around the 37 mile track, cant say ive noticed the heat from the engine, sum up, Great bike.
I bought the 800de here in Australia and the engine is a real gem. Im not suffering the buzzing or heat issues reported. The suspension could do with some work and thats on the list.
It's not, like Mossy say's a wow bike. But I think there's a lot to be said for how a bike sounds...And how the sound of a bike can transform its appeal. The 800 with a proper pipe sounds incredible and Im glad Mossy is gonna do that mod, And anxious to get his reaction.
I have the same bike, even the same color. Really love the engine, vibration and heat have not really been an issue. I agree, it needs a bit more noise. Stock silencer is nearly silent. I have a Ixil MXR slip on that adds just enough sound with the db reducer in and it's about 1/3 the cost of the Akrapovic. I have a set of EBC HH pads up front, give a little sharper bite than the stock Nissin pads.
Love your review! Some say the 800RE (IMO it's a "very good" do-it-all motorcycle) puts out a lot of engine heat, also that it's pretty buzzy at 75 to 85MPH, have you experienced that?
I bought one last week and my right hand does go a little numb been told once it gets to around 1500 mile on the clockit’s less buzy time will tell I suppose other than that I’m enjoying the bike
Wondering myself if I should get the RE or the DE. We have lots of straight pavement with few turns but once there it could be more pavement or gravel or trails. Interested in understanding its (both Re and DE) personality a bit more. Thanks
Ive got it 2 DaYS ago, installed it and drove 300 km. Installation is easy with the prepared helmet. Configuration is okay, a little complicated without manual - first get the information out there wich buttons do what and set up everything properly before you use it. Worst part for me is that as he said multitasking (tanking while listening to music) is obly availible in 4 G connection. Over the whole tour i could not listen to my private music.
Chris m8 ,I have a few questions.I tested an 're the other day and I must say I enjoyed it .However at around 5000 rpm in B mode I found it to have quite a buzz in the seat and foot pegs , ? does this get better with more miles ?.Mpg what are you getting ? I ask as I found either it was a heavy drinker or the fuel gauge to be inaccurate .2 bars in 30 miles .Would you say it's a better bike than the nc750x ? Cheers m8
I came from a versys 650, which had a 180° parralel twin, so it was a bit vibey. But I now have ridden the 800DE for 10k km (about 6 months), and to be honest, to me it is buttery smooth. Sometimes it is a bit vibey between 4,5k-5k, which has gotten better after the break in, but it wasn't annoying to me at all. The speed limit in most places is 100km/h here, which makes the engine run at preciecely 4,5-5k, but I never get tired of it. Of course this is hugely dependent of the person riding it, and the particular bike. As for mpg, I get about 5.0l/100km on average (mixed city and highway). With lows of 4,3l/100km with sporty riding in the mountains, and highs of 5.7l/100km on the highway (around 130-140km/h). If you have any other questions about the bike, feel free to reach out:) Edit: I almost always ride in A mode, except in rain. But this would not really change the mentioned things (maybe mpg), apart from throttle response
Enough......you convinced me...where is the mic?????? I stopped watching your video there......it was useless for me....I was loosing time🤣 I just bought it...... Great review though!Nice energy 🥰
