Magic Sam played the Poppycock in Palo Alto July 14th. We ran it, did the light show, lived upstairs. "...a beautiful person..... the greatest thing I've seen at Poppycock...

Knew John since 1966, played a gig in that same auditorium in a band with John in 1970 , "Pierce Arrow". Proud to have played with him. RIP my good friend. Skip Bailey

Skip, thanks. Today was John's birthday. He was one of a kind. He loved talking about music and sharing stories.

@@clips4fun2024 I didn't know it was his Bday, wow, what a coincidence that I listened to him playing today. I enjoyed playing with John, but we were friends beyond music. He always invited me to sit-in whenever I showed up at one of his gigs. We used to have him over for dinner, especially holidays when he was alone. Gone way too soon.

I don't know what a hell the bass was playing at 00:20 Probably he thought about playing a 3 chords blues more but suddenly he realized that this song is a little bit different. Funny mistake, sometimes it happen even in first class musicians.

Yes, that is Luther's son Bernard. I saw Luther Allison in 1996 at the Bayfront Blues Fest (Duluth, Minn.) The following Year saw Bernard there too. Sadly the news was passed along after Bernard's performance that his father had succumbed to cancer. What a great entertainer. RIP Luther, Your son's carrying the torch for You.
