This idea of a hologram being an actual sentient being was the ultimate in PC idiocy. That is until this latest Star Trek Discovery incarnation lol. At least with Next Gen. Data was some kind of experimental android that was created as something different than a normal "computer". The only thing they called the Dr. was some kind of learning program but that doesn't explain how he could be a sentient being with all the rights of a biological brain. Maybe the holographic doctor would have been acceptable if he had been given a Data type background.
I've always wished this scene was directed as if it were a serious red-alert scenario. It would have been amazing to have Robert Picardo embody a completely different hologram persona as an emergency Command officer and not an emergency Medical officer. The personalities and choices for actions would be completely different!
I love how 7 appears slightly aroused after the Doctor disables Tuvok and Chakotay :-) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LQo0fBzMO8Y.htmlsi=26vuX0Ot-vzEPROj&t=113
As a Vulcan, of course Tuvok is cool as a cucumber about it, but I'll still never get over his nonchalance at becoming a potential Borg drone in this scene. It's very nearly, "Oh dear, it appears I've been compromised. How inconvenient."

@@petejones879 What exactly do you think the Borg were trying to stop? They went back in time to try and stop First Contact with the Vulcans. It's in the first ten minutes of the film.
Robert Picardo was quite literally perfect for this role. I can't even imagine anyone else pulling this off as well and with such perfect timing. I miss Voyager.
