This channel is all about art and using every kind of medium to draw and paint. I am a multimedia visual artist and I've always been intrigued by new mediums. I created this channel to share my art and my experiences with both familiar and new products I use to create.
I often get asked how to draw or how to achieve certain effects or what the tricks are to this or that medium. So I decided to film my creation process from sketch to final artwork. For this reason my videos almost always start with a blank page rather than a ready sketch so you can see how I draw and all the mistakes I make along the way, because we all make them, it's simply part of the process. And I try my best to describe what I'm doing and why, so if you happen to be on your own art journey, which I image most people who watch art videos are, you may find it useful, as I often find useful tips by watching other artists.
Thank you for being part of my journey, your time and input are greatly appreciated! xoxo
If your work is a tracing from someone's Photo YOU are PLAGIARIZING, and NOW making Realism art NOTHING MORE THAN CHEETING WORK, just as SO MANY Art Critics say NOT REAL ART BUT just being a good Copy Nothing MORE. IN A COURT OF LAW , a photographer could take that person to court and in court if that person could NOT CREAT a likeness without using a photo , will be Sued. SO NOW YOU HAVE PUT YOURSELF as being a CHEATER., just as bad as Using "AI" and then claim the work as your own... SOOO THAT WILL if you do not know the Anatomy to create a realistic drawing.
I completely agree with your opinion on this subject!! and i do not trace.. i used a reference photo to look at because i was inspired by the beauty of this cat, i left a link to the instagram channel i looked at.. and if you look at the cat i was drawing, which you can tell apart by the distinctive beauty spot on it's nose, you will see that despite having produced a more or less decent cat drawing it doesn't actually look like the cat i was trying to draw, because i made several mistakes with the size of it's chin, the shape of it's nose and proportion of it's head when drawing it's initial outline.. which i might have been able to correct if i was drawing with graphite on regular paper but pastelmat cannot be erased so i did my best with this and decided to share it as i do with all my art, mistakes and all, just to show that everyone makes them..
Actually it’s fine to use a reference with a photograph that is copyright free. Obviously using a photo and making an identical drawing without photographers consent and selling it as your own original is not ok. However, using a reference to create an identical drawing is not cheating at all and is no way comparable to ai, there is a lot of skill in it 😊
@@Aliciae411 thank you!! i did actually message that insta account asking for permission to draw the cat but they never replied.. so i drew it anyway, explained it in the vid and shared the link.. and of course this drawing is not for sale it was just for fun.. 😊
well this video is about failure, the title kinda says it all.. lol i tried 3 times and failed 3 times.. but i chose to share it anyway.. a lot of artists only share their best work, making everyone who's learning feel like they can never get there.. i want to show that everyone can fail sometimes and to never give up because of it.. i'm not hurt you think these aren't good because i don't think they're any good, i said so in the vid.. but sometimes it's about more than the outcome, it's about learning to use something new, persevering through failure and not giving up if you don't succeed..
@@Creative-Soul Sorry, I don't want to burst your bubble but it'ss not just about this video I've seen a couple of yours and you just don't have it . Practive will make you better but you lack the natural finesse You can easily see this how people draw a line , a thousand thing can be read from just a single stroke of paint .
A new channel subscriber and a longtime art furriend from Vantaa, Finland 🇫🇮. Being an artist 🖋️🖊️✏️🖍️ is never that easy, but as long as we keep practicing, we will always be more skillful than ever before 😺👍. I even draw my own art works with the traditional fine / felt pens and colour them with the traditional twin markers and wooden pens 🖋️🖊️✏️🖍️ 😺👍. Thank you 😸😺👍.
well the manufacturer's website in Japan did not ship to UK, so i found an e-bay seller in Japan that had highest ranking reviews and ordered there.. if you want i can look up the name and let you know..
@@Creative-Soul ah I found the same one. Might just have to wait till I go, something awful about paying £200 for £100 paint (36 set) finding keeping in London has the 24 set £150
@@0Apes0 i know what you mean.. but i really wanted them and couldn't find them anywhere else.. choosing keeping didn't even have them in their shop back then.. i have also bought a different set since then.. a designers set, which is supposed to be better quality or better lightfastness or something but in smaller tubes rather than jars.. from amazon.jp 😉
i'm pretty sure all the compartments have waterproof lining.. it was one of the biggest perks for being able to wash them out if paints get messy.. the only compartment that has really soft fleecy lining is the second one on the back of the big bag for laptops, so they don't get scratched.. though i haven't actually taken them out in the rain yet.. so once i've properly put them to the test i'll post and let you know.. 😉
i'm not sure.. it was a kickstarter project.. so it wasn't like buying from a shop.. he pre-sold the idea under the condition that he got a certain minimum number of orders, which then got made.. if he didn't get enough orders everyone would get their money back.. but now the kickstarter is closed, it had a closing date before production began.. i don't know if he'll be making more.. i definitely think he should considering how successful it was.. and the bags are great.. maybe you should email Jazza and ask..
that's so cool!! we both had the same first and second choice.. 😁 what was your third choice if they didn't make the turquoise?? i think mine was black.. i figured if they don't make my first two preferred colours i'd just go for a plain one.. but i'm really happy with the one i got in the end.. 😁🙃🤩
That light blue pencil is for sketching. It is not showing up on scans and copies. I don't have that specific one, but I tried to photocopy a sketch I did with a blue col-erase and it barely showed up. It is a thing apparently, I've seen similar pencils before specially recommended for artists (I believe Caran d'Ache has one, at least that's coming up in my mind now from my art supply shopping adventures).
Thanks.. I wondered if it might be that as I actually have the specially made one.. can't remember if it's caran d'ache or derwent or some other brand.. but I was never sure if it's a special pencil or if any blue pencil has the same effect.. I will try it with this one and any other blue pencils I have and share what happens.. 😊
@@Creative-Soul I don't have any of the special ones, but that's what they claim. Please share the results of your experiment! It could also be a video idea, if you want.
Thank you so much, i appreciate that!! i hope you enjoy your journey with pastels.. they are amazing to use, if only a little messy.. but probably also the most satisfying to learn..
hey.. so someone replied in the fb group and said they tried it.. and the glow in the dark element works in resin.. but the day to night colour change is affected and does not work as well in resin.. however they suggested you could paint it over the resin if you sand and prime it first.. i hope that helps..
Thank you so much.. and i really appreciate your feedback and will try to always include what colours i'm using from now on.. in this one i am using Golden Fluid Acrylics and the colours on the pallete from left to right are: Yellow Oxide mixed with Titanium White and Golden Acrylic Retarder, Benzimidazolone Yellow Medium mixed with Titanium White and Golden Acrylic Retarder, Titanium White mixed with Golden Acrylic Retarder, Carbon Black mixed with Golden Acrylic Retarder, Phthalo Green mixed with Benzimidazolone Yellow Medium and Golden Acrylic Retarder oh and the drop of red i use for the nose is Pyrrole Red
Thank you so much. Colour is so difficult even if one understands hue, saturation and value. Learning by using your colours gives me a fighting chance. Loved you instruction.
Thank you so much!! i really appreciate that, especially considering how much i struggled with it.. i'll wait a few days to see if anyone guesses.. then i'll post who it's meant to be.. ☺
Thank you so much!! ☺ Hope you have fun with yours!! They're really good pencils 😉 I am the same way.. lol love being inspired by other artists and pulling out some art supplies i've not used in a while to give them a fresh try.. 😁
Oils in a sketchbook, first time for everything. I've never seen anyone do that before. Just out of curiosity, even with those thin layers, how long did it take to dry?
Exactly lol.. and i left the sketchbook open for just over a week.. it was sort of dry to a light touch after 3 to 4 days.. but i could tell the thicker bits weren't dry all the way through and i didn't want to risk them sticking to the other page and then ripping off when i open it.. but after 8 days at room temp it was fully dry.. which from experience is still quicker than regular oils..
I almost bought that sketchbook set, even though I already own 2 of the individual ones (I missed the first, but got the other 2), but they sold out before I fully made up my mind. I'm a little relieved (I do NOT need more sketchbooks), but then I see videos like this and I'm disappointed again, haha. Though what I really need to do is get up the nerve and actually use the ones I have...but they're so pretty and pristine!
lol i think every artist can relate to that.. i definitely don't need more sketchbooks but as i didn't have any of the previous ones i just couldn't resist.. lol and i recommend skipping a couple of pages to make it easier to start.. i always tell myself i'll do something awesome with the first page later.. and sometimes i do and sometimes i don't but at least by then i'm well into the sketchbook i was afraid to ruin.. lol hope you have fun with yours.. and thanks for watching.. xx
thank you and i found it on ali express.. i've been experimenting with a lot of miniature palettes so i've been looking everywhere and this is the most adorable one I've found yet.. here's a link: www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005579882848.html
no probs.. i picked that up from a friend and it really helps sometimes.. some washi tapes are made low tack, while others just rip up paper.. anyhow, thanks for watching.. and Happy Holidays!!
I got the green one last christmas. I know it shouldn't make a difference but having a beautiful sketchbook actually encourages me to use it and ive already gone through half - it normally takes me years to get closer to filling a sketchbook. They work great in every medium ive tried so far as well. Enjoy;
Thank you!! I completely agree!! i have shabby sketchbooks with shabby sketches.. but with nice ones it's almost like you don't want to let them down so you try harder.. 😂🤣 and congrats on filling half, that's a lot in a year, especially considering how thick they are.. hope you finish the rest of it next year.. Happy Holidays!! ☺
I also want to say Happy Holidays and I hope you have been having a great holiday season! I am looking forward to binge watching your videos and watching future videos!!
I just found your channel on my recommended section, and I am glad I found it! I have had my eye on the nerdforge sketchbooks for awhile now, and I have also been interested in nicker poster color for awhile. Where do you buy your Nicker poster color paint from? I have been having a hard time finding it! I found some on Amazon, but I can not find it anywhere else.
Hi.. thank you so much.. and i got both my sets of nicker poster colour paints directly from Japan.. when i first got the jars of paint (i opened and used in a previous vid), I couldn't find them anywhere in Europe or US and the Japanese manufacturer did not ship to UK.. so I found a reliable seller on ebay in Japan and had them shipped to me that way.. the tubes i use in this video i ordered from amazon.jp.. i should mention that when you order on ebay you'll have to pay customs fee after delivery, where amazon calculate it into the total before you pay.. good luck.. i hope you find yours, they're awesome paints to try.. 🤩
i do believe you're right.. that is now after having used them for a while.. but as i ordered them directly from Japan, i did not see this anywhere on their website.. and in all the excitement of trying something new to me, there were just enough small differences that set it apart from normal gouache that made me question it.. like the density of the paint, the fact that it dries exactly the same colour as in the tub, which no other gouache does as well as how quickly it dries, quite like acrylic, which it obviously isn't.. but now i understand that these were all adjustments made to the paint to suit it's purpose for animation.. and I really enjoy these paints.. and even if they are essentially gouache they are still unique in their own right and not at all like any normal gouache you can get from any other brand..
While quite similar to gouache, there are still differences to be had with poster colors. I do like to take more than five seconds to research similarities and differences between art supplies when learning about something that is new to myself. Perhaps this five minute video can help demonstrate how they differ. Hope it helps! :) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rl1cKhzoais.htmlsi=cyh4lpEjO_jHaquD
@@missjazzamuffin13 Thank you for the link.. that was really informative!! i kind of went by feel on figuring out how they're different.. and watched some vids on how professional anime artists use them but it didn't occur to me to look up specifically how they are different.. so i really enjoyed that vid.. :)
no.. it isn't.. it is exceptionally pigmented and mat and designed to be photographed.. as it was created to be used for hand drawn animated movies.. so once photographed and turned into digital images they are preserved by the animation forever.. but the original image and paint itself was not made to last and will fade.. though i can't say how long exactly it might last before it fades and i know different colours fade at different rates..
