many works have a limited dynamism despite the advanced and careful methods. the impression is enhanced by the narrow visual "frame". it gives a slightly anxious impression instead of the image "floating over the edge" out over the wall. the color palette is muted which reinforces the impression of adaptation to something similar to textile printing. It will be an injustice in the middle of the scale. A 3.
It takes plenty of $$$ to make work like this. I wonder if that is part of it for her? Like you know, obvi, Koons but a few more countries removed between maker and idea person.
art is currently a safe zone where it is in a loop in its expressions. not much has happened since the 1960s. Some technical tools have been added. Most people seem happy with it.
Dear James Thank you, Kate! Thank you for this Fantastic report! Many notable advancements in figurative painting and energizing abstracts! very inspiring! CHEERS!
I possess an early Milton Resnick painting titled "Sunflowers" (Van Gogh-style) that I thought was 'chunky', but its chunkiness is nothing compared to some of these new works. Wow! Thank you for the video,...very interesting.
.....a really large and energized effort approaching the volume of this show and sorting through it for us....thank you for the elucidations ...Kate and James 🥰
A few good bits, I liked the paintings at the very beginning, Berryhill, Jeau , Monica, and Staver and I liked the show at Shrine a lot but overall I was really disappointed by the quality.
Thank you JK as always for putting out such great content for artists! Aleksandar Todorovic at Dio Horia Gallery was definitely a stand out for me. Thank you Kate
Great to see that "school is in session" and the maestro is back! Hope you had a restful summer, and am so glad to see your video pop up once again. Well said that the Armory Show is like an all-you-can-eat buffet, and how to tackle the sense of overwhelm. And the very ending was the cherry on top - Michael Berryhill! Thanks James, thanks Kate.
Thanks James and Kate. Lots of color at this show. Michael Berryhill really stood out in his use of color. More painterly and layered with his own approach.
