seems like it was a factory defect so many 'new' units have the same issue, might get lucky with a radio that doesn't have this defect, best choice imo is to take yours apart and re solder the 3 resistors and the transistor
Glad I found this video before bringing it to the shop. I had the Radio and Climate Control issue where it doesn't respond and I constantly get Auto AC. Tried this yesterday, the resistors looked fine to me but I soldered it anyways. Put everything back and it didn't work, not sure why. I tried it again today, I added a bit more solder to R508,9,10 just in case and also added some solder to the transistor. I was also very careful with the ribbon cable and it fixed it today! Huge help, thank you!
Just wanted to say thank you for this video - never soldered anything before but gave it a go (508 was very loose) and everything works again! Amazing.
do you know how to re set the time? I've got the exact bike, don't know if it's broke or not. only things I kan reset are mph to kph and d trip. she press both buttons. will try that.
Thanks a lot. I worked for me also. I solder 508, 509, 510 resistors and it is working perfectly! I did not have to do the last part of your video that it looks Frankensteinish to me! :) Thank again. G35 2004 sedan Bose with navigation.
Update: fixed my ac/heat going in lockdown mode on my 2003 g35 coupe. But my radio is still intermidantly not working. Better than it always not working i guess. Seems to usually be in the mornings when its cold. But ya give that resistor a wiggle and see if its loose. Try to get it proffesinally saudered because its tiny and pretty much almost impossible to get in there unless you have a tinySauder gun and small hands.
my g35 navigation screen doesnt turn on anymore but i can see it works fine in the day light its just the background light. anyway i can fix this problem?
Thanks Quantron, This fix really works. My 03 G35 Coupe has been acting up for years. It had finally decided to blow AC at 60 on high. That's OK for Florida, but annoying. Pulled the radio, found the 3 resistors. None appeared loose, but re-soldered each point and the 2 on the power transistor and now everything works like new. Without your research and video, this would all be a proprietary fix for some electronics shop.
Have a look at the factory service manual for your infiniti/Nissan. The pinout of the connector is inthere. You can find the manual on the net. I hope that helps !
Hi!!! Do you have any idea how to fix model CLARION PP-2665D-A which was installed in my 2005 g35 coupe? I can't find 508-510 resistors :/ Do you have any scheme to that radio?
does that thing also causes no sound from your stereo? my head unit will turn on and everything is working perfectly, but there is no sound from my stereo and im not sure if its a wiring issue too because its a stock bose stereo so all the wiring is compacted with all the other wires so if its a wire problem then i should have problems with other parts of the electronic too, but im not. sometimes when its cold outside and the next morning i turn the car on the sound will come on right away after a cold night then sometimes when i do manage to get the sound working only the back speaker is working and often the volume will be stuck on a specific volume and i cant change it lower or higher. then sometimes i will set the volume to a specific level and turn the radio off and on and the volume will jump to a lower level instead of staying at that specific volume level i set it too. i already check the AMP and head unit and everything seems fine by looking at it. i haven't crack open the Head Unit, but i did on the AMP and everything in there looks fine. check the grounding and its good. so im not sure no more. *2004 G35 coupe*
So do you use the same resistors or were they replaced, mine g has this issue, I'm super stoked to take it apart, hoping it works for me as well, great vid btw, you seem to know your shit bro
+Edgar Alcocer I replaced them since I was already inthere. A lot of people seem to just reflow them and it worked for them but new resistors would be a safer bet.
+quanttrom I have the same issue...great video and explaination. What are the part numbers or sizes for R508, R509, & R510 and where is the best place to get them? Radio Shack? .....even if they are loose I may want to replace them.
+Tom Dowin In order to get full details please go over the forum threads linked underneath. You will gain a better understanding of the process and how the "solution" was developed. Here is my reference to the resistors you need, g35driver.com/forums/audio-video-electronics/391401-climate-control-radio-repair-diy-2.html#post6805224. This might be helpful.
+quanttrom you are awesome. So helpful and quick to respond. I wish there were more nice, caring & considerate people out there like you. I will give this repair a shot. From the comments of others with the same issue, it looks like this will fix my problem. Thanks again.
Thanks quanttrom. I re-soldered 08, 09 and 10. Thanks so much for taking the time to make the video. Needless to say I could never have figured this out on my own. Now my radio, heating and A/C work thanks to you. BTW, only 508 was mechanically loose.
Thanks for the share, that worked for me. Just a caution when re-soldering the resistors, they will fly off the board, they are a bare to put back in position. Do one side at a time. All is working as normal. Air & heater, radio and all controls working again.
Can't thank you enough for posting this video. I bought a 10$ soldering iron from Wal-Mart, removed the unit, soldered the contacts listed below and everything works like new. All my radio and ac controls are back. For anyone with a G35 looking to fix this problem....take it from me, it works!
Hey, I just wanted to say thank you for posting this video. I re-soldered the contacts that you pointed out and everything is working normally again. If it wasn't for you posting this video I would have had to spend alot of money to get it fixed. Thanks again!!
Worked for me perfectly! Thank you. My issue was similar with the radio display not working, the AC stuck on, but the steering wheel controls working. Here are the two videos you need to see: Infiniti G35 Stereo Removal, Audio Finisher, AC - REPAIR 2003-2004 to see how to remove the stereo unit. Then your video to see where resistors r509 and r510 are which did need to be re-soldered. I watched both, had a friend assist and it took us about two hours. We also had a good quality electrical soldering iron. When he touched r509 and r510 both resistors were loose. We were not sure it was going to work but a little solder and when we reinstalled it was exactly the cure. I can't believe that Nissan / Infiniti didn't warranty this Clarion part. Really poor customer service. Hope this helps you.
wanted to mention. this is the exact same audio unit that Infiniti put in certain 2005 FX35 models. Ours is exhibiting the same problems, intermittent power drain, and a/c system failure, etc.. I'm going to take it out and see if this fix works on our FX35.
This video describes how to fix the 2003 g35 issue where the climate and stereo both stop functioning (the panel in the center console no longer works - so the climate control is stuck wherever it was when it got stuck, and the stereo may only get radio when using the steering wheel controls. I followed the instructions here and re-soldered the 3 contacts (R508, R509, R510) and everything is working again! Thanks to the poster for sharing this video! There's another video that describes how to remove the stereo (which was great to get this unit out of the car).
+vandleigh Can you tell me how you re-soldered the resistors? I have unit taken apart, but I don't know if if I should add more solder, or just reheat the junctions.
My gs3 about a month ago and whenever I played games the charger would delay but then I unplugged it and it said it was still charging for like 15-20 seconds and it would stop and I'd plug it back in and it would be fine then I didnt have to do that for a bit and recently since 3 days ago its like my charger is so weak I cant even be on my phone and even if its charging it takes forever to charge pls help me
My Strereo is on and everything kinda works. It doesn't play music, and when it does it's could be staticky or clear but might fade away or not play at all. When I turn up or down the volume the speakers won't make a noise, I know the speaker are fine because it plays clearly when it does. Sometime when the power is on, it will make a sparking noise. Do you know what wrong with it and would it be an easy fix? I justfinished battery and charging at my school so I know the basic of electrical
