I'll watch all your videos. I need a moderate-skill role model since I'm a lefty and turning 60 in a month. Thanks, Lewis, for posting your work. (Footwork, defense, and forehand are great to pay attention to). Alex, Illinois
Adedapo’s serves look illegal to me 🤷♂️. The ball isn’t being tossed 6” up, it looks like he’s just raising his hand, dropping it and striking the ball. Knit picky but rules are rules.
If this is table tennis shoot me! How dull is this guy? Daft rubbers opened the game to talentless non athletic people to inrease the sports exposure... 😊
@@lwaddup88 Don't take it personally - I am an old English squad member from the 1970's who disagrees with the larger ball and strange rubbers which have been designed to make the game open to everyone. I say the same to everyone as do lots of my contemporaries who were athletes. So don't be offended- I'm sure we'd talk tt until we were blue in the face but I think it's sad. Not personal. I wish you success.
@kevinmcquade2154 That is a really harsh comment. Lots of people, me included think that Lewis`s style is good to watch and makes for some very entertaining rallies. Some of the best matches I have ever watched feature a player called Ruwen Filus, he plays with a similar style albeit at a much higher level than this. Another is Panagiotis of Greece, It is not always about all out attack, there is always room for a tricky and talented defender to mix things up a bit!!
I think Lewis is more of an all-rounder. He chops on the backhand and rolls or loops on the forehand. I am enjoying watching his videos. Looking forward to more twiddling and then looping on the backhand with the 2mm normal.
Not 100% on this but I think the idea behind throwing a leg down is to generate more spin. If you fix the rest of your body in a position but just stamp one leg it can pull your arm down in an instant and generate more spin. 🤷♂️. Almost all pro players I’ve seen serve like that.
@@jonwoodcock3198 and there was me thinking maybe it was to hide the sound of the rubber hitting the ball to try to fool the opponent? Never seen the top pros do it, but still each to his own.
@@conroyknapp4903 Most top pros stomp their foot when serving, like Ma Long for example. I think it is done to a) mask the sound of the racket contacting the ball, as underspin sounds different from topspin or no spin b) generate more spin as @jonwoodcock3198 said c) look cool
It's very interesting that you are left-handed and a chopper. Probably the first time I have EVER seen a left-handed chopper. What made you want to become a chopper originally? And also good win btw
Hey Lewis, do you use your wrist at all when chopping ? I'm interested because I'm also a left hander who uses pimples but I can't seem to get anywhere near as much chop as you can
Hi mate, for me more wrist = more spin and less wrist = more float, so it depends on what you’re trying to do and what spin is on the ball already, not sure if technically correct but that’s what works for me
@lwaddup88 thanks for the advice! I've just started trying to play in a similar way. I've realised just how huge a mental effort it is. To keep total focus. Start moving as soon as you've completed a shot and not ball watch. To watch your opponent clisely to start moving to wherever it looks like their gonna put the ball, I can only seem to keep it up for a couple of points at a time then lose focus.
Good match, Lewis, Bryan was so consistent and he didn't give you many chances to attack, I guess it's harder when the opponent has good ball placement and technique. I got to your channel through one of your matches against "Pocket Rocket". Your chops are very good, most of them low so the opponent can't attack them, but because of how far back you go I can't see how you're chopping because you're out of the camera's angle. I've been thinking lately about going for something else on my backhand, I've tried SP, LP and Antispin, and SP and Antispin are tempting since I don't seem to get a grasp of backhand topspin and my serve receive with BH is terrible. Do you think that antispin is better than SP for serve receive? Can you attack with Anti?
@@prem.gohil. In this match I used the Nexy Joo Sae Hyuk blade with Dignics 05 in max thickness and Donic Spike P1 1.0-1.3. Now I use Nittaku Fastarc G-1 2.0 on FH.
