Only thing ive heard about regarding the slide release, is that it'll damage it over time, since some handguns weren't designed for it to function as a release. Dont know how true that is for what guns, but it's never been too complex
When I'm playing contractors and playing multiplayer it really helps depending if your using like old gun mod like WW2 unless your using a C96 mouser you can also do it like modern hand guns
Lefty here with multiple handguns, all of which are unique and have their slide release in a slightly different place. Most slide releases are difficult to operate left-handed, some are impossible to do without changing my grip. Rather than trying to become proficient with a bunch of different firearms, it’s far easier and more combat effective to simplify your training regimen and get in the habit of slingshotting all of them.
Imagine how frustrating it must have been to be issued a muzzleloader in the revolutionary war, being in the battle of Brandywine and watching 200 fellow troops just easily reloading their breechloading Ferguson rifles. Then, you tell your grandchildren about these mystical guns, and they buy one just before lever guns and bolt action guns arrive to make the breechloaders obsolete.
Im broke, so i have an absolute piece of shit, but i clean it like its a goddamn Ferrari. But its because the cheap ones dont let you get away with it usually. Anderson is a good brand though.
I can answer this. It is because service pistols do not get competition parts and get over used. A weak spring can lead to a soft chamber resulting in a dead man’s gun. It’s a “just in case you want to nice to do to be 100% sure it’s in battery” kind of thing. If you don’t like that that’s fine. But don’t post any other “nice to do but not necessary” stuff.
Don't use slide release on empty gun. If there is ammunition inside, it will slow down the slide, but on epty gun, slide hits the barrel without any resistance and often releasing can hurt the gun. So slide release is ok to use, but on loaded gun only.
You only have to rack your slide on the pistols that have a built-in safety Hammer block switch this is so that when you do hit your slide your slide doesn't completely closed so that you don't get a accidental misfire yes you could use your slide switch on any gun to rack a bullet in there but some guns are a little finicky and if you don't pull back on the slide it will slide forward and give you a slam fire but not all guns will do it especially the ones that have a hammer safety built into it
The reason i was trained to use the slide was due to the large amounts of adrenaline you will have in a moment like that can cause you to preemptively release the slide before you have the magazine seated and end up with an empty tube. Slide release is a great tool and definitely faster, but none of us train enough to get everything right 100% of the time. So its basically just going with the sure thing in any situation that would require you to use your weapon. Just one perspective.
