NE Florida and surrounding areas. St Augustine Sandman! Surf, shore, dock, pier, kayak, skiff, deep sea, Gigging, and things related to Fishing, fish sandwich reviews and CATCH & COOK videos. DIY projects and some how to videos
In this video I think I did just tie it to my main braided line. However, in really clear water you’ll want to use a monofilament or fluorocarbon leader line anywhere from 17-30lb depending on what structures you are fishing around.
Catches a red drum: “That was the target!!!” Catches a snook: “That was the target!!!” 😂😂😂. Excellent video guys and definitely good day on the water. Tight lines!!!
What a great video. Bob and you always have fun together.A slam, way to go. The Snook looks like a great catch and your 1st one. Keep up the enthusiasm coming thru the adventures.
Mr. Cook where can I fish along Villano Beach because Saint Augustine pier is completely out of the water and are you playing the Couse the end of July 1 weekend August like to come and hear you do your thing
Hey! Vilano beach is tough surf fishing right now. Best bet is to fish Porpoise point. You need a 4x4 to get on there though. I’m playing conch house tomorrow but that’s it until August. Surf fishing will pick back up in the fall.
FAKE. You spliced the video and not once did we actually see you put a sandflea into your mouth. That crunch sound was fake. This was all fake.. and just for views. LAME. 🤡
I like Gulp baits, have used them since 2007, I just wish they were a little more durable. You catch one fish and your lure is toast. If you leave them in the tackle box to long they either disintegrate or shrink and become stiff. I wish Gulp would make more designs of the minnow variety. Like a pearl white with a black back, and with a straight tail instead of forked for better up/down action. Also a color that imitates a shad, a black back, light silver body, with black dots on each side, straight tail instead of forked. Also one with pearl white body, lime green straight tail.
I used Gulp for years until I discovered Fishbites I switched to fishbites baits bc the scent is built into the bait as well as on the outside. Yeah…they shrink though when dried out. Fishbites baits are biodegradable. Think of them as an alternative to a live bait I guess. Can’t put them back in your bait bucket. lol 😂 Fishbites uses solid laboratory chemicals technology to come up with the scents used that fish go crazy for! Same way fast food uses chemicals to get us to get hooked lol 😂
Love your channel. Just discovered it a week ago before coming down to St Augustine for a little bit. Bought your floating hook rig for the beach and it was the only one that caught fish!!! Definitely recommend your channel to everyone. Hopefully you keep it going. I actually fished at genugs on my kayak where you were but I’m a novice and didn’t catch anything.
For flounder just cast it out and let it Sink to the bottom and slowly reel it back to you. Typically, I look for sand bars, oyster bars, and dock pylons to throw around. Standing still I’ll cast it straight out 12 o’clock and keep casting until I’ve covered 1 o’clock, 2 o’clock, 3 o’clock, 4 o’clock, and 5 o’clock. Then repeat… but this time going 12, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7 o’clock. If I don’t hook up then the flounder just aren’t there. They can’t resist this bait. (5” Dirty boxer from fishbites is the tool for the job.) I use different jig head weights depending on depth and current. My usual weight is 1/8oz
Never know unless you try. I get hit a lot when my paddle tail is just drifting. I’d add some procure and bounce it every once in a while. Unless it’s already a scented bait.
