Since then we have continued to add constantly to our diverse catalogue of titles, encompassing original fiction and adaptations, photographical and design, as well as biographies and autobiographies.
A shame William Russell is dead and gone I met him once and he was very nice I an was a awesome character and he sadly never returned to classic Dr Who.
A lovely tribute, he was so good as Ian Chesterton, him and Jacqueline Hill as Barbara was fantastic. With them both and William Hartnell and Carol Ann Ford, there’s no wonder we all fell in love with them and Doctor Who.
Love the way Hugh Fraser faultlessly read the Christie book PASSENGER FROM FRANKFURT, and managed to take on all the different voices and accents of each of the characters. Marvellous.
Having a female arch-enemy and returning arch-villain in B7 Servalan was awesome in billions of ways and also B7 would never have been as awesome without Servalan as the principal villain for B7.
Jackie and Sylvia may have resented the Doctor, but Francine was prepared to go all out to defend her family. That woman had steel and I absolutely loved her for it. If the Daleks invade, I want to be on team Francine. She definitely needed more love. Me? Spoken for, but... 😘
John and I worked together in 1996 when he took a break from acting. We worked at an entertainment insurance company and we got in trouble more than once for talking too much. He was always funny and fun to work with. Coincidentally we lived near each other in Burbank. I've always remembered John and the pleasure of working with him.
Those costumes, oh those costumes. Such a fantasy figure for so many adolescent and young men, often nobody in the Rec/TV room were at all bothered by the storyline and conversations and nattering would stop as soon as Servalan appeared. These 2024 "Strong Female Characters" have not a clue.
Because she was the final support actress of Classic DW, there was a rumour back in the day that she was Camille Coduri, who played Rose's mother, Jackie Tyler, in NuWHO. There was some similarity.
Thank you for this delightful interview. I am an audiobook listener from way back when they were on cassettes at the library. For the past at least 10 years, I listen to Hugh Fraser EVERY night. Mostly the Poirot books, but Mr. Fraser's also. I love his Relaxation audiobook. I am always impressed with the range of voices he can do. You always know who is speaking!!! Man or woman. He can narrate the most grisly scenes in a voice that is still soothing, though not losing the horror of the story. . (Halloween Party, for example).
Joan immortalised the role of Miss Marple How extraordinary that Agatha C imagined her in the role. Joan is an astounding actress! I find her so loveable and so real. Hard to believe Miss Marple is a fictional character wonderful wonderful wonderful Thank you ABC
Having seen "The web of fear" on original broadcast I was dismayed years later to discover it was lost, as to me it was peak Doctor Who. Great work Phil.
