I think you confirmed what I was hoping I was reading wrong. I have a seed tag that shows 3 types of grass seed that total about 48%, and coating material of 50%. So if I understand correctly my 50 pound bag of grass seed has only about 25 pounds of actual seed. Sad...

Those Rox risers are a joke. Overpriced headache engineered by apparently, a teenager. Shouldn’t need to make a tool to install a riser. Don’t ask me how I know.

What you are calling annual rye in the video looks like cereal rye to me. When I purchase annual rye and perennial rye from my big box stores I can hardly tell the difference. But when I plant cereal rye in my garden plot, it is thicker and taller, just like what you are showing here. Wondering why I have a different experience with the product than what you are showing here.

Wow! I have been preparing for my lawn renovation all summer. I'm currently about 2 weeks away from final prep and seeding. After watching this video and inspecting the grass seed I had purchased, I learned it was exactly what not to buy despite great reviews. All the hours researching and preparing would have been completely wasted if I had not seen this. I cannot thank you enough!

Going to disagree with you some in that TTTF will work very well in all but the very coldest climates. Also, recognize that if the grass if buried in snow and is in fact in the soil, it gets nowhere near the actual cold air temperatures.

glad it was helpful. Tall fescue isn't a fix-all but with a little love in your very dry times, it should be ok.

Depends on where you live. I live in high elevation climate where it is cooler so the cheap seed works for me and quite well. Comes back annually as long as it's hydrated properly.

If you get the blower, it comes with its own battery, so you end up with two batteries that are interchangeable. Works well together.

Very nicely said. Always do your research before investing money and effort into a new lawn. I’m seeding Bermuda this summer returned big box store seeds back and pursued a quality seed of specific hybrid. Best suited for my climate. My first time growing a new lawn. Very excited. Now germinating a samples of different varieties of Bermuda to see a final result.

I live in San Antonio TX. My front lawn has a lot of shade and my back yard has more sun. What type of grass seed should I buy? I have struggled with this lawn for 10 years with nothing much growing in the shade and the grass in the back yard getting burned. I am on a budget and would like the best solution possible. Thank you.

Do you know anything about bunch grasses? I had some Tufted Hairgrass (Deschampsia caespitosa) in containers that I had just hardened off for a couple of weeks (they were started indoors), I'm in Zone 8 and they're supposedly hardy in my Zone. Our winter is mostly mild 50s-40s-upper 30s but we had freak cold snap. The plants had been outside for a while and when I saw the forecast I tried just moving them to a sheltered area in the yard (should have planted them). Temps got down to the teens and the potting mix got partially frozen. They seem to have died now, post -thaw. Do you think they're dead for good? I'm thinking yes 😢 because it's in the 50s again now and they're brown.

I live in Chicago. We just bought a house. My yard have a lot of shade and heavy traffic. The lawn was covered with tons of leaves for a few years and after we start cleaning the property we end up with tons of mud and not much grass. The property was really neglected. Please advice which grass type will be best and when to plant it since there is no snow so far.

Thanks so much for this information!! Very helpful! Question though; we just had the lawn aerated and out down weed and feed. I realized that it’s not actual seeds (or is it?) I plan to go out and find a mixture of Perennial Rye (no more than 30%), Kentucky Bluegrass, and Fine Fescues for our NY lawn. Should I seed it now in November and again in the Spring? Thanks for any help you can provide.

What about quackgrass ... this is my main concern on one of my lawns. Also, perhaps a video about how to deal with mossy areas? Or what about any non chemical herbicides? Not a fan of putting down 2-4D, Roundup or similar.
