For anyone still asking, the reason it says LOCKED is because GM requires people to program the replacement parts to the vehicle. It is for "theft" reasons.... if you buy a used one, you can bring a receipt with the vin number of the replacement radio and the dealer can unlock it.
Just watched your video and my 2013 was doing the same thing. What I did was replace the factory Amp under the steering wheel. Try that and you'll be able to fix the problem
Ok I have the same issue, the controls are working from the stereo which is ok but not good. I still need both to work. If I figure it out I will update comments. ***update ok being the determined person that I am when it come to finding a answer this worked for me press the onstar button once after it says hello press again and then I turned off the car for about 3 minutes I turned it back on and now it works.
Mine did that .when you start your suv if you didn't the braKe will not press bown. I pressed the brake restarted it let it run a bit . let the pressures billed up.the lines started it again screen turned on switch in the work
My radio display on my 2012 equinox LTZ 4 CLY only show the chevrolet emblem! Back up camera works great. but no sound out of the radio. On star works, but non of the other buttons on the control panel works. Replaced control panel, but still same issue. All the AC controls work, plus heated seats, and information display where the gas mileage, and speed show. PLEASE HELP
OK, so I have had exactly the same problem, bought an aftermarket radio but showed "locked". so I located the EEPROM chip and removed it....(very easy to remove with solder iron). installed it again. now it's unlocked and everything works as it should. FYI, the the radio has 2 boards, the eeprom is located on the lower board.
I had the same issue I have a 2010 Equinox I took it in for the engine to be replaced since it burned oil like crazy they said this issue was a damaged wire at the OBD port which was malfunctioning the raido and stuff... they repaired the wire and its working again.... Maybe this will help someone else!
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-u2ETmoxzBhE.html. This is how I fixed my infotainment issue after I had to jump start my 2016 equinox due to me leaving my radio on nothing was working my radio was out nothing worked on the infotainment center . no fuses burned out, no security message just dark screen..
This is the solution of the problem - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gEMOrD7E_o0.html. dэ Do everything as in the video and it will work. It worked for me.
I have an chevy equinox 2013. Problem is similar. My console screen is baln, radio dose not work, AC/fan button does not work. it seems nonthing on the center panekl works. As suggested by your video and some other youtube vidoes, I pushed the OnStar botton, the middle one on the rear view mirror. then everything worked.
I have the same exact problem sometimes it works and sometimes it just doesn’t I connect my iPhone pro max, And it’s reading all the songs but no sound it’s ridiculous
It's because the operating system from the old radio is locked to the computer of the car, you'll have to take them to a dealer or something to get them reprogrammed
Before you waste your money on buying a new radio or going to get it checked out I highly recommend that you try disconnecting your battery first, I had the same problem with my 2016 Chevy equinox and if you know about this particular car you know the battery is a little bit different from your average car, so I jumped on you tube and watched how to disconnect everything but being that It was so difficult I only disconnected the red side left it off for about 5 minutes only because I was trying to disconnect both, but the black side was a little bit more difficult to get to, so in the process I said well let me just put the red one back on just to see if it works, went to start the car and the radio came on. Now had I went to try to get it fixed they would have charged me a couple of hundreds just to do the same exact thing I did.. knowledge is everything, I hope I helped somebody, will be making a video of it soon
Hi guys....I have a 2015 gmc terrain and today I was blessed with a black screen 👍.. so I did all the recommended ideas on this situation to no avail...so. I replaced the radio fuse and infotainment fuse with new ones.. I also disconnected the battery from both terminals...cleaned both. Waited 10 min...then connected everything back and BOOM magic all worked again. Lights ,signals, interior lighting and obviously the monitor itself .the radio is ok back up cam ok....hope this helps someone .peace and love to all
DISLOCATING THE NEGATIVE FOR ABOUT 20 SEC FROM THE BATTERY LEAVE THE POSITIVE INTACT THEN PLUG THE NEGATIVE BACK UP.. THEN THAT WILL RESTART IT FOR YOU.
***IMPORTANT*** I had the exact same issue with my 2016 Chevrolet Equinox I found a fix for it ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YhSXLejrAPk.html
Same happened to mine, but I had warranty on it still. They fixed it. I read the paper on what they did and all it said was that it lost communication and they reset it.
I have a 2014 also and it has been doing the same.actually it came on last night but when i got out car and returned and cranked it up nothing.this is crazy everyone needs to make a complaint because it got to be something faulty in these vehicles.
Hey, I have a 2010 Equinox and absolutely nothing works. No turn signal click, no radio nothing at all. The dealer wanted 12-14 hundred dollars! Blacked out screen. It’s very aggravating
It turned out an easy fix for me. My 2013 GMC Terrain SLT-2 Intellink/infotainment system; screen, radio, back up camera died. There's a fuse panel in the passenger-side footwell, on the center console wall. In there, you'll find fuses, among them is 1 for RDO(Radio) 5A and another is for infotainment systems 20A. (Refer to the back of the diagram on the back of the fuse panel door). Check both to see if one is blown. In my case two of them were blownout. I bought the fuses from Autozone for $8 and fixed it by myself. And everything works great. All the best.
Nuel Fit Thank you for the info! Followed your advice. We checked the fuses, ours were not blown out. Guess it just needed resetting. My husband and I pulled out the RDO fuse and put it back in. It worked!

I had all week same pr, so i tried battery n fuses, but in repair shop mechsnic took off panel and it was burned from inside. So radio, condition, all panel functions did not work snd what was the most frustrating- signal lights were all time on and off, so i couldnt drive properly. So microchips inside panel burned, he switched off socket and signal lights are ok now. So i have to order new panel. This happened to me within winter, when was minus -10 in Ukraine, and car was standing 2 weeks without movement. So battery probably gone crazy and gave hight voltage. Also battery was 60 gm original, but place for batter was bigger and was for 75,so mechanic told me that dynamo probably was giving over strong voltage as for 60 battery and it burned/boiled and that is why gone mad. Mechanuc told me that producers save, that is why for 2.4l cars put original 50 or 60 instrad of 75 batterries, and they get over charged at some point. So problem is - burbed panel from inside (mucrochips). It had burned smell too.
my cellphone wont work anymore with my 2012 chevy equinox. Any suggestions? I tried everything! reformatting my phone, revert back to factory settings on the stereo, update my phone. the one thing that I may need to do is take it back to the dealership for them to update my car because I reformatted the stereo back to factory settings so, that may have something o do with it., any suggestions?? thanks in advanced.
