The V6 is underrated. It is only 20 ft lbs torque less of the 4.8. I tow a 14,000 5th wheel in Fla but dont go over 50mph and no hills. Dont drive more than 10 miles a day. Runs fine. If I go long distance I would upgrade to a 2500 truck. I saw a post from a highway inspector and he said ratings dont mean a thing. Its all about the tire ratings. IF you are within load ratings you are good
Man, y'all got my hopes up that there was some new trail near Maplesville that i didn't know about. I would only be about 20 min away. This trail is further away, but Maplesville is on the way, ao i het meeting there. You ran it backwards from the way we always used to go. Glad to see its still open. I didn't see the big rock that partially blocked one of the tunnels. Is that gone, or did I just miss it?
I’m trying to locate a MJ that’s hasn’t been modified then start the process all over again. I also need the money to do so. So sell the jeep then locate a MJ
@@GHRTaco there’s always one out there but I can’t buy until I sell. I’ve had it up on marketplace for a month now. But my dad said I can barrow his rubicon JK till I get another one. I just can’t be rough on his
This past ride really beat my back up. I was so sore after this ride. I enjoyed it but I gotta give my back a break lol. I will definitely be back either in late summer or fall
What is wrong with your Jeep that you had to add the louvers to the hood? Why wouldn’t you just put in a lower temperature thermostat if you wanted the engine to be cooler?
I have my 2015 4.3 at 246k and still going strong. Mostly highway miles and tow a little 10ft trailer every now and then. No major issues as of yet but I guess we shall see how far we get.
I have a 2018 Silverado V6 and I bought mine $32000 just to find out the trans was kinda shot replaced it for $3500 run like a beast I hauled from KY to NC with 16ft stock trailer with sheep i love my truck and when your engine go out drop a V8 in it and go on
I started toting heavier weight and I quickly out grew the V6. I traded it for a 2015 2500 about 6 or 7 months ago. Just for that transmission to go out the first month I had it
@@jacob.davis334 yeah that comes with it but they are nice trucks I wish I can get a 2500 you shouldn't have anymore issues well expensive issues anyway 😂
It seems that Beasely Knob is slick as camel snot no matter how recently it has rained, that's just my observation. But still a fun trail regardless. Great video of your adventure. Thanks for sharing it with the world.

@@jacob.davis334 I’m actually doing the opposite. I’m selling my 2003 7.3 diesel F350 and getting something that’s a little more daily driver friendly. At 368,000 miles I think it’s time to get something a little newer. 😁 I don’t tow anything bigger than a 10 foot utility trailer so this should be more than enough for my needs. Literally on my way to pick it up now.
@@baldeagle242 this would be an awesome daily. I love the truck when I wasn’t towing the jeep. Just get a warranty. These Chevy transmissions ain’t worth a dang
New subscriber, great stuff. I have a 2024 Rubicon X 2D on 33's, came with a 1 1/2" lift (my 2nd Rubi).. do you think that is adequate for a moderately experienced off-roader to avoid damaging the underneath of my new baby? If I arrive alone, how hard is it to find other vehicles to team up with? Hoping to make a possible run at 404 at least this November Spring Break. Thanks fellas! Great Channel.
I rarely touch my skid plates when i ride here in alabama. Its easy to avoid undercarriage damage at stoney. Even when i was on 33”s i just drove carefully and did just fine. Just have to imagine what the jeep will do before you drive it. Pretty much predicting the future. Which comes with the more experience you get. As far as finding people to ride with; just join every local jeep club on Facebook and start posting about wanting to set up a ride and just start communicating with in. Sometimes its hard to find people to ride in a “public group” thats why im in a private group now. And thank you for the kind words
I have a 2015 with the same engine I bought new. I had a custom tune done on it by Klug performance. The downside is I have to run premium gas but that's fine for me. I probably added 10 more hp if I'm lucky but the drivability is so much better, and he disabled the god awful active fuel management. I also installed an aftermarket transmission thermostat and now the transmission runs much cooler. Using a cold air intake and a 2 inch lift kit with 33 inch KO2 tires. It's a monster in the snow. I can't complain about the power at all. Great trucks if you do some preventative maintenance and some mods. 105k miles and counting.
Got a 15 4.3 i use my trucks for helping people move kayak fishing and taking the jon boat as well as accessing our camp in the everglades and taking a bunch of stuff with us it does these all without problem and has been totally reliable and just normal maintenance until last month i replaced my struts 135k mikes almost all highway. Im about to get a new job with a take home car so i plan to have my guy for quite some time
I’m have the same truck. Torque converter took a dump. GM reman installed at 96,600. Oh and if your transmission goes out you won’t be out it a day…I was out mine for a month. Lifters? For me, so far so good.
From Middle TN, I just bought a 2007 JK and I’m planning a setup kind of like this one. Thanks for the video and some ideas. The drain hose is a good one, so are the milk crates.
Same truck same year only white dbl cab 4wd.. My 4.3 has hauled a chevy suburban 2 times. Only about 50 miles each time. Engine worked hard going up a few hills. But on flat ground was doing 60 on hwys.
Basically add the shelby off-road profile on Facebook and just wait till a ride pops up. We are a private club but will have rides open to non members every couple months
I have a 2014 and I absolutely love the truck. But really the V6 loves 65mph. If you set the cruise at 42 mph empty you can get around 30 mi per gallon.
@@jacob.davis334 I've got 170k, all original essentially. Hoping to pass it on to my daughter in 8 years! Yeah, it's my favorite vehicle out of over 100 I've bought and sold on the side. So glad I picked this over an Impala that was similarly priced.
@@TrickyMickTrucking unfortunately i like towing the jeep and i knew i was pushing the limits of this truck. Its perfect as a truck that you dont need to tow with. I take it to town more than the jeep now a days. I call it my sunday truck
@@jacob.davis334 It's the hills lol! Flat Michigan towing is a breeze though. But yeah, I agree. Definitely wouldn't tow all the time. It feels exactly like my 2008 2500HD 6.0 did. Just enough power where you need it, and not a ft lb of torque more!🤣 Try it on e85 for a huge boost in torque. It's about $1 cheaper in Michigan.
I was so bummed, I missed this trail by a few days, I was up there around Mar. 14 and it was still closed. This looks like a fun trail for sure. Looks like you guys hit it right after a nice rain day.
@@jacob.davis334 Yeah, I was up there and it had just rained and did Sarah's Creek Road, what a muddy mess, but I had limited time, so i got real dirty, wheeling the day after a big rain, but I wasn't going to pass up my opportunity😂
I would like to share but unfortunately more and more people are starting to find this place and the trash is getting worse. So we are refraining from sharing these cool spots so we can keep them.
285 horsepower and 305 torque. Thats basically 5.3#s until 2013. A little less hp and torque but close. Also as long as your not going over 215 degrees your fine. 170-200 is normal
You need to delete the external transmission thermostat. Allows cooler flow 100% of the time. With factory thermostat, it doesn't allow cooler flow until it hits 180⁰F
I know where this is. And I’m 100% on board with not exposing it. It’s 10 min from my brother. But is it public or private land? A couple locals say it’s been “closed” on a private entrance?
It’s government land and only certain parts are allowed to be driven on by the public. There was a gate that you can enter through. Basically if the gate is open you’re good
@@abrahamreyes3340I was pleasantly surprised. It towed our camper no problem. I have been working this truck in other ways also. I have a tandem axle trailer that weighs 1500 lbs empty and have hauled 6-8 yards of mulch twice this year. Last week, I hauled a 10 foot section of red oak that weighed just shy of 3000 lbs to my buddies house so he could have it processed. No issues. I think this motor will do everything that I need it to do.
