Meals on Wheels America is the oldest and largest organization in the United States representing those who provide meal services to people in need. Our mission is to provide visionary leadership and professional training and to develop partnerships that will ensure the provision of quality nutrition services to seniors in need.
I hear what you're saying. However, this issue has been going on for eons. For young and old. I have even read, just recently actually, where schools have thrown away a child's lunch if they do not have the money to pay for it?! I'm not saying let's not give Ukraine any help as I honestly don't know the whole situation. However, I cannot help but feel that it is wrong to give billions of dollars to a country to assist them with their situation, yet right here we have so many people who would benefit greatly from those very funds. If anything, I wish that Congress would find a way to split that money.
I should probably just keep to myself on this, but for what it's worth to understand this charity organization better, I will keep it short and too the point. Meals on Wheels is a beautiful charity organization that has grown over the years and helped countless people in each state they operate in to receive nutritional food. From children to the elderly to the disabled, God Bless them and the volunteers who help make it all happen. There is a lot that goes on to pull it off, from the acquisition of the raw food, to the processing, packaging, and delivery. There is management, directors, fundraising, and so on. And of course it takes money and not all full time folks in the organization can be volunteers. That is a revolving door of constant recruitment for the positions required and that can be performed by volunteers. So there are, and have to be, paid individuals. This is not a government program. Never was. A vast majority of the required funding is from private donations. Only about 3-5% of their funding comes from the federal government, and it is not direct. That small amount is chosen by each state that receives Federal block Grant money. Should the Federal level have to make cuts to state block grants, it is up to each state to decide what they may then need to cut. We are not talking about eliminating the grant money altogether, but cuts in spending have to happen from time to time. So each state then has to decide where the remaining grant funds go. For Meals on Wheels to survive as an independent charity, they have to raise money constantly. A 3-5% loss of funding, would require the state decide that since they received 10% less grant money, they are going to eliminate any and all funding to Meals on Wheel programs. That isn't likely to happen. It's much more likely that the 3-5% funding will also be cut by 10% of that small amount. But the fund raising department of this organazation may have to work harder to make up for the loss. The picture here cannot be politicized, but it will be and I urge everyone who cares about this organization to avoid being caught up in the lies and to instead spend their time helping a private charity organization to survive the way it has for decades. BY donating to it, and by volunteering when you can, and SHOWING you truly care about it beyond armchair outrage over reasonable things like budget cuts that have to happen. That's what I and my kids and my mother in law do, and my own mother and other disabled friends we have, have become grateful, but not entirely dependent, on this wonderful program. A program that began being run by the people and for the people in their communities. Turn this over to the Federal government, and it will become a bloated political pawn with every thief getting their hands in the till while the people who need that food will get less and less. Please do not bite on this bait as it will certainly ruin the program and THEN when cuts are required at the Federal level...it WILL directly result in people being cut from this program. Thank you for reading if you have taken the time.
Maybe people fail to realize that the Trump Administration is not to "take food out of seniors' mouths," but found abuse and misuse of the system. Not to mention how taxpayer-funded projects like that used to be had a number of "bums" who were using it without being in need. Look at this example. This guy not only can go out, buy and prepare enough food to survive, but uses the "Meals On Wheels" program to claim he "has nothing else to eat otherwise," while posting videos in which he shows off so much food he can buy on his own. Nothing like "playing people" to get "something for nothing" these days, blowing his money on useless crap, claiming he's "in need" of food while his videos prove otherwise. Grifting. Con games. Misuse of that program. This guy in Martinez, California, is an example of why we need to examine why taxpayer funds should be used to support such "in need," as they claim, while it appears such as him are playing us for suckers. Check these out and dare to disagree. The guy even states "he's not happy" with the "Meals On Wheels" food he receives free and somehow qualified for, calling it "inedible" and admitting he even throws out some of what he receives for free -- while others are really in need and starving, it's people like this who show why this program needs to be reviewed and taxpayer's outlay should be questioned: "TRYING THE BEEF STEW DINNER FROM MEALS ON WHEELS. " ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_t_3aRDdirQ.html "TRYING CHICKEN MARSALA WITH ITALIAN VEGETABLES FROM MEALS ON WHEELS" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MffCI8rNUwk.html There you go. Sure, let the taxpayers "foot the bill" for such "needy" [in quotes] people like that guy. It speaks volumes about some who "qualify" for "free assistance" and somehow think it's "OK" to have taxpayers and even the government pay for this nonsense.
We as senior, do want to all your info, that u want give, we want here other side a voice, tell us next thing 2, do I about .Now what, that part ! Right a vice on line okay!
Do you mean she makes $500,000 a year. Saying someone makes a half million dollars makes it sound like someone is getting rich off the backs of others. Granted that is a lot of money, but why should a CEO of the non-profit that exponentially builds services and provides goods at no charge be rewarded less. I am sure the CEO works equally long hours. Often the community wants professional and qualified people to run social programs but they don't want to pay for talent.
Does the CEO make a half million dollars? That is the concern I have with this nonprofit. Is the CEO or Chief Operating Officer paid a nauseating amount of money?
