This was 1980. The info is in the description, but many viewers watch on phones and other devices where it is often difficult to figure out how to see the descriptions and comments. With so many different browsers and settings, I can't really tell them how it might work in their case.
Only a few studio musicians are listed in discographies. (See description) This makes me think that the strings were added later and the players were not identified.
Joplin was influenced by the old time blues singers. Ma Rainey and especially Bessie Smith . I think Brenda inspired many young women to perform at a time when there were hardly any women in Rock in 1960 when this song came out.
