Lore videos about (mostly) grimdark settings delivered in a not so grimdark way. Main subjects are Warhammer 40k, Trench Crusade, Vampire the Masquerade, and Pathfinder 2e . Or just whatever else catches my eye.
My headcanon for the geneseed malfunction: They no longer have the emo swoosh like Big Daddy Crow. They all have Jheri Curls like the Soul Glo commercials in "Coming To America"
I feel like there could be a whole fifty part series on Space Marine Chapters/Chaos Space Marine Warbands that sound cool as all get out from the one mention they have and then never get brought up ever again.
The Blackguard really are the embodiment of the phrase, "No one will notice if there is no one to notice." Not sure if you did a video on them or have looked into them already but you might like the Silver Templars. They form special bonds with the machine spirits of their weapons and dedicate themselves to using it to perfection
Of course they are stealthy. All the artillery and sieging is going to give their foes tinnitus. Easy to sneak up on someone who is only hearing “reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee”
Ok cool/dumb successor chapters: Mortifactors because they're ultramarines successors but are obsessed with death, are all cannibals and do blood rituals, one time they left the lamenters to die cuz the blood told them to. Death Specters are ALSO obsessed with death but are Raven Guard sucessors and their homeworld is a massive graveyard where it is always snowing and their chapter master sits on a glass throne beneath the crust of the planet holding back something (???) until he rots away and dies. Dark Krakens are Salamander successors who fuck with water more than fire and live on a planet where they kill sea monsters All solid
Why is the entire first company of the DARK angels bone white? Why are the Emperors Children actually Fulgrims Children, why do we have MK8 and MK10 armor but not MK9 armor?
Successor chapter paint schemes have nothing really to do with what chapter they hail from. Its really nothing deeper than a Games Workshop employee thought this toy would look nice blue or something lol.
@@glueboy :/ Well I'm sorry you completely missed that the point was that there is no answer. Welcome to Warhammer it never makes sense, the storm giants are salamanders successors and have the color scheme of the white scars. The blood ravens have precisely nothing to do with blood angels or blood in general. Also no matter how much I try I cannot pack what I'm trying to say into small messages idk why. Words are too long, it just doesn't make sense when its short.
At least 1 fucked off with a big titted Xeno. What can be worse than falling to chaos? renouncing the Empire of Man, disagree with the Emperor, fundamentally AND not just protect but embrace the XENO, even mix Human gene with Xeno gene. 2 things can happen, 1 fights with a human-Xeno coalition, he just won't put them down and allies them. And 2 the other fucks off to create its own Human-Xeno empire somewhere out there, away from the Imperium on a galaxy orbiting the Milky Way.
If the 3 "talons" are stealth, ambush, and vigilance, does each of the Raven Guard successor chapters maxx out each aspect? don't know if that's so but its a pattern
Depends? Thats usually how known decended successor chapters work. Take a trait, specialize harder, and run wild. Raven Guard are a bit all over the place tbh from what I keep reading. I keep finding some that just hard dropped the path of shadow honestly.
Coolest (non founding) chapters off the top of my head: the exorcists - demon hunting experts who as part of there proper initiation must allow themselves to become possessed by a chaos demon and then through there own force of will expel it from themselves. The black dragons - heavily mutated loyalists from the cursed founding who have this mutation that causes there bones to grow into these protruding spikes that they use as rending claws. The iron snakes - they are a chapter who my enjoyment of them comes from the incredibly in-depth and thoughtful culture that the marines practice in honoring there homeworld and there ties to its seas.
You will like the death spectres they are created during 13th cursed founding and is also a raven guard my favorite loyalist space marine legion and primarch.
I have seen Raptors taking heat for not being "Astartes enough", I call bull they are his angels just as much as the Black Templars. Edit: It has been stated by ranking guard that Admech Collegia and Spacemarines are outside the chain of command and technically above it if they choose to be. The source I remember is a guard colonel in Helsreach.
By the way, on the topic on WH40K introducing cool elements and then not doing anything with them, have you already come across The Anchorite? As that one actually makes me laugh. The book in which the character is introduced is incredibly dope, though, and somehow manages to be the best Imperial Fist, Ravenguard, White Scars and Word Bearers book I've read so far. Like for each indivdiual chapter that is their best book for me.
I have heard some good things about the Anchorite. I've been meaning to give that a look through honestly lol. The concept for it is a fantastic one. But knowing its something they definitely hard dropped is gonna be sad lol
@@glueboy Even the writer of the book said that he was surprised how well it sold considering that it was meant to just be an one-off book with no consequences for the larger world. Which is absolutely wild considering what it establishes the Ancorite as.
On the successor chapter suggestions, I'll throw Wolfspear there because their lore somehow manages to be both very recent and utterly contradictory mess. Yet, being the sons of Russ, they still are incredibly dope.
@@glueboy There's a good reason for that as there hasn't been that much of them in the canon outside the names. Although it seems like every single author picked Wolfspear as the one they would feature without checking what others were doing. To say the end result is messy is putting it lightly, but they are fun.
... Ah. Yeah that'll do it. Thats gonna be really fun to delve into lmao. Some of my favorite subjects for these videos is when its just heaps of contradicting lore. Peak 40k.
@@glueboy I almost wrote something about the contradiction, but I'll instead allow you to joy of trying to comprehend what happened for yourself. Trust me, considering how new the successor Chapter is, this is next level 40k.
@SansSentiments I was picking up Hitman World of Assassination speedrunning and I had exactly that in my mind. Which all the tech is only described as making so much noise you're more stealthy than the normal game.
Its in the works! Was waiting for them to get stuff more codified and set up the Kickstarter. Every time I was working on a lore video they would change or add new stuff. With it coming soon I'm gonna be making more videos here shortly!
I also like that a noticeable portion of space wolves are Lukas's kids. They recruit only from Fenris and Lukas likes to "spend winters" among the local tribes.
Malice is not the same as Malal. Malal does not simply hate everything. He hates the other Chaos Gods, and in extention, anything that would follow them. Malal has more sophistication, then you are thinking. Malice is a lesser rendition of Malal. Malal, is something that was torn from canon, when the authors wouldn't let Game Workshop have him.
Yes, Malal and Malice are different. Very sure I say that in this video actually. Because one is a character that only existed very briefly at the beginning of Warhammer Fantasy and the other is an actual canon entity in 40k. In this video I am describing *Malice* in Warhammer 40k. Not Malal. And with all of the direct sources he is referenced, which is also incredibly few. Their domain is always cited as all encompassing hatred. They despise the other gods and kill their followers. But the Followers of Malice also embody a self destructive hatred. 2 books mention this, Labyrinth and Cadia Stands actually. All Malice is, is the same domain as Malal but transferred to 40k. But also in a way that is compliant with copyright law. Malal on the other hand, was prominant in 2 forms. He was in the Malal comic, and was in the 1st edition Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay book. All around 1985 and 1986. Also funny enough, alongside their opposites of The Gods of Law. Something that was barely a thing after that book dropped. Malal is one of many things dropped from 1st and 2nd edition Warhammer Fantasy. For legal reasons in this instance. But for some reason the community has hard latched onto him and built this identity for them that straight up doesnt exist. The *actual* sources we have say next to nothing except "Malal hates the other chaos gods. He wants to kill them." So please, feel free to drop any excerpts or sources that give him deeper characteristics from Warhammer Fantasy.
If theres anything I learned from being in a military family. Its that the military only makes rational, cost-effective, and well thought out decisions for its soldiers. (definitely not sarcasm)
Broh! These have been my first loves!❤❤❤❤ Awesome job on the vid! Crazy idea, Maybe they’re promoting then because they’re gonna do a space marine team up, with Tao!? What What!!?
Love the Raptors. They are tied for my favorite chapter. It's hilarious that even Guilliman loves them and wanted them in each of his Crusade fleets for the Indomitus Crusade. When White Dwarf Issue 494 came out and had new lore for the Raptors, it became the first ever White Dwarf I got
Just an update cause new mechs, Gilgamesh: most HA pilots look down on Gilgamesh pilots for piloting them because they aren't flashy enough which led to furious comanders proceedings to pilot them as a way to lead by example. But also let's face it, it's a mech that can strategically blow off an arm, replace it, then beat you to death with the arm it just ripped off.
This is such a funny assumption to make lmao. I both said exactly how I discovered the Raptors (Lexicanum rules). I also showed my 2 favorite successor chapters in this video since I discovered them the exact same way.
