Never saw it live. It still gives me chills. I'm a race fan through and through "Moving like a tremendous machine " forever etched. Still got the sports illustrated copy. An amazing shot. That horse was gigantic. I wish I saw him live.

Well he was close... He only had to beat his two filly (3rd,or 4th???) cousins... All related through the "KING Of SIRES" Northern Dancer. Actually EVERY Breeders' Cup Champion, in EVERY division is a decedent, a cousin through the "SIRE OF ALL SIRES" Northern Dancer!!!

SO glad that fate was kind to Souper Spectacular - if not for Hannah and Mistie we all KNOW where he'd be right now..........
You are limited in your knowledge of the Thoroughbred industry. You should do some research before you make a comment like that. The real story was he was let go after he left the Thoroughbred industry. (Not to mention many more reasons.)

What was mike smith thinking , used her way to early, had he of held on to her until the bend she wins easily, crazy ride for a jockey with his experience !!!!!
Looked like Pat Day's ride on Easy Goer in the Preakness that year except he brought him through on the outside. Regardless, what a lousy ride. I came to expect it from Day, but from Smith? SMH.
Abel Tasman was out of position, moved way too early, I mean dang. Could've used her insane burst of speed around the coner. But It Tiz Well did a great job winning this race!
David - I struggled with assessing Hence. The Sunland to Churchill equalization is 1.4s. When I looked back at the times he ran in the Southwest he appeared stronger early and flatter late (Oaklawn to Churchill is a much closer equalization). Thanks for the comment!
I could ride a racehorse better than that! That was a shit ride! Mugged at the start, boxed and on heels the entire race, then boxed at the far turn, went to the outside then got pushed back in behind horses and never saw the huge hole opening up coming around the far turn....... legit, that's what cost a lot of people money and her a perfect record at Oaklawn. Shame.
It's sad all the big names going into this race, every single one of em, faded late in the race and a horse I've never heard of won going away like they were a bunch of gradeless winning nags
The worst ride I've seen in a long time, toss this result. A monkey could have guided Terra Promessa to the win and to add insult to injury, Irad is quoted as saying his filly, "didn't show up". I imagine this was his first and last shot at riding her, Mr. Asmussen did not sound pleased.
