I know it has been a few years, but my son and I are doing a very similar hike next weekend... Nineteen Mile->Carter Notch Hut->Carter Dome->Carters... camping at Impsite and then out on Stony Brook the next day. Obviously, this means no Wildcat A & Moriah for us, but the same entire middle piece. I was just wondering if you guys also stayed at the Impsite ?? and..... if leaving out Wildcat A & Moriah makes it any more dog friendly???

@TheJourneyYoutube
@TheJourneyYoutube 2 месяца назад
You could be talking about lugging the motor. If you are, then no FP3 won't help with this. You just need to run a slightly higher RPM and it will smooth out. Personally, I love the sound of running the bike at a very low RPM but I can't for the same reason.

Unless you’re drinking distilled water, there are electrolytes, a.k.a. minerals in all water I have never once eaten electrolyte gels, but I do live in the area and my water comes out of the same aquifer Poland Spring pulls their water out, so there is already plenty of electrolytes in my tap at my home that Most people are not privileged to have access to.

this is sound stupid but do I have to get it tuned if I was to get this exhaust?
@TheJourneyYoutube
@TheJourneyYoutube 2 месяца назад
It depends on who you ask but the general rule of thumb that I've heard is if you only do a slip on exhaust, you don't need to tune it but if you do an air intake or a full exhaust, you should also do a tuner. People have different opinions that maybe you need a tuner even for slip ons and other people say that you can get away with installing a full exhaust and no tuner as long as you don't do an air cleaner... The safest thing is to get a tuner no matter what. Doing the exhaust, an air cleaner and tuner is the only way to see much of a performance gain anyways. Good luck.

I do not recommend this. On later engines, including evos, the correct idle is around 1,000rpm. Book may vary a little away from that. Oil pressure may be a consideration, but another is crankshaft speed. The slower the idle speed, the more the rotational speed varies, with the crank slowing as it reaches each compression cycle, then accelerating after each. Not good for bearings etc! So keep idle where it belongs! Shovels and old school pans can cope with a slower idle speed because they have heavier flywheels, to keep things smoooooth.

What do you recommend 12 inch or 14 inches handlebar, I also have iron883. Need your suggestions which one will be comfortable?
@TheJourneyYoutube
@TheJourneyYoutube 4 месяца назад
It's just like buying the right size shoe... The right height bar has to do with how tall you are, how long your arms are etc. plus you'll have an aesthetic preference too. Look up one of my videos about measuring for bar height. The general rule of thumb is to keep your arms below your heart. A lot of laws actually make it illegal to have bars that have your hands higher than parallel. Good luck.
@mohammedaasim3571
@mohammedaasim3571 4 месяца назад
@@TheJourneyRU-vid thank you for your advice, I am a tall guy. I am 166cm so 12 inches would be good enough I believe. I ordered for 10 inches but that looks really short and because of my back is not straight with the standard bar which comes with iron883. I guess I ll be good to get 12 inches handlebar
@TheJourneyYoutube
@TheJourneyYoutube 4 месяца назад
The other thing to consider is that there is no standard for how manufacturers measure their bars. For instance, I believe the Harley Chiseled bars are advertised as 10" but measure more like an 8" from other companies. I'm only 5'9" and my 12" bars are pretty much at the legal (and comfort) limit for me. You can always get a thinner seat which will make the bars feel higher too.
@mohammedaasim3571
@mohammedaasim3571 4 месяца назад
So sorry I meant I am not that tall, I am 5’7. In this case if you are happy and comfortable with 12 inches handlebar then I will order that. 14 inches for my height would be too big

What oil did you use for your clutch? Been reading online and some say just your normal engine oil and some say 75w90.

Honestly I bought the Harley Davidson Genuine+ Transmission and Primary lube and I just looked... wouldn't you know it, they don't put the weight/ spec on the bottle. It doesn't seem as thick as 90wt but doesn't smell like regular oil either. I've used ATF for some other bikes, but this also doesn't smell like ATF. Sorry I could be more helpful.

Thanks fpr your video..i just recently bought a 2022 iron 883.. And im planing to get the FP3.. What intake air filter cleaner you recommend for my stage 1 set up?
@TheJourneyYoutube
@TheJourneyYoutube 11 месяцев назад
Honestly the 883 doesn't need a much larger intake unless you build the motor to a 1200 or larger. You don't gain THAT much from a stage 1. My general recommendation is the arless ness big sucker because it's a brand name air intake with a rechargeable filter and it's pretty cheap. You can get pretty much any air cleaner but most cost more.
