Thank you for this, I just got this for my Nord Rack 2 I got as a gift (needed a new CPU) and I am very excited to breathe new life into it with this sound bank!
Talking about the staccato lead sounds around 3:47? Those sounds will be a bit more challenging to really nail because the Nord has no onboard FX besides a Distortion that is basically just a saturator. That staccato synth has a lot of phaser on it, which the Nord can't do. The gating effect would probably be best achieved by using a plugin like LFOTool or Grossbeat, since the Nord has very basic and limited modulation capabilities between its 2 LFOs and 1 Mod envelope. There are likely sounds in this pack among the plucks that could be used as a starting point, and then just writing a choppy stuttery riff by hand, and then adding phaser and other FX like reverb and delay to add the right spacey vibe - from there, using the modwheel to mess with the filter cutoff and get those sweeping modulated tones would round it out
@@KulshanStudios thanks man you are correct, the gating sounds can be edited later but the signature sound of that phase staccato is the important. He made a lot of good sounds in the past, sounds now are more generic to fit a more modern psy mix. You understood me absolutely well, maybe you like the sounds as much as I do. @@KulshanStudios hey I think I got it, next time you have free time, get into Korg Polysix vst if you like and start from flange lead preset, with some tweaks and layering another acid assorted sound sound you get quite close to it. But the base is the polysix. Add some static flanger phaser flanger in series and get the delay. That is chaos gate staccato. thanks for the input.
@@liorsilverstein9802 yeah, if we had to hazard a guess, we think Astrix was using a Virus B or C in those days - Viruses are legendary with their FX and mod capabilities, and when we do a sequel for the psy bank, some more of those subtle sounds from old astrix tunes will be on the docket
and on the group chain add a H949 Harmonizer eventide, start with preset medium flange or wide flange, bonus the sheety waves metaflanger Multron Biphase, and is pretty much on the same league.
Will the boutiques still connect to a newer OS? Drivers for most boutiques wont install correctly for anything above OS 11 so I'm not sure if it's my cable
@@dchromej we tried *so hard* to make the Gator work like a good rhythmic trancegate for certain patterns (like the Level One pad), but it was like fighting bears one-handed We'll need to spend more time really digging in to how the Gator effect works and how it would process external vocals, but that will be a bit of a ways off, since our next projects will be Hardstyle for the Blofeld and Industrial for the Nord Lead 2X
Do you know which installer to use with an old MacBook Pro. I never updated my laptop so I can still use in Ableton live if needed. There is a lot of confusion on my part for which installer to use so I can get this pack.
@@dchromej the current Mininova installer MIGHT still work? But your safest bet would probably be Sysex Librarian, unless you can find a windows laptop lying around for patch management
Assuming that this is a port of the Revolve set for the Prophet Rev2 or vice versa? I have both devices and wondering which to choose! Leaning toward this one because I just think it's a more crazy techno-friendly device
@@aradder it's very close, yes. The Blofeld pack has a few more massive unison pad and lead sounds, so if you're after sounds like It's Ours by Artbat, or the Tale Of Us remix of Hold Me To The Light, the Blofeld pack will be more your speed. It also contains more dub techno-oriented sounds, since it has deeper mod capabilities for spacey sounds The Prophet Rev2 will be more your speed if you want analog character for the low end of your songs. The Rev2 is pretty fabulous for basslines. And the pan spreaded plucks and midbass patches are fully mono-stereo compatible right out of the box, so you can achieve a wider mix with less effort Short term, you would most certainly get the most utility with the Blofeld pack, but long term, both packs and both synths in tandem would give your songs a very powerful and distinctive character

The librarian tool was a lifesaver for us during sound design work last year
There's instructions included with the sound banks in the README file But it's easier to just grab the NL2xR editor/librarian plugin from Aura Plugins and use that to transmit patches

Hey, none of those are actually analog - analog would be more like the Sequential Prophet Rev2, Moog Slim Phatty, or Moog Subsequent37. If you have the budget for it, go Virus TI2. It's THE most powerful, versatile, and stable VA synth ever made. If you want to save some $$$ and don't mind trading off a little in power and features, go with Mininova/Ultranova (if you want a JP8000-esque sound) Blofeld (if you want deep modulation and a punchy digital sound If you go Nord, look at either the Nord Lead 2X, the Nord Lead 3, or the Nord Lead 4. They call come in rack versions, so you can save space and cash versus a big keyboard. The A1 is rather limited in features and will be harder to use in songwriting Take a look around our soundset inventory and compare the sounds of each synth and see what suits your style best! Most of our demos use the Virus TI2 reverb on sounds, but you can achieve a (better, tbh) reverb on any synth you buy by applying ValhallaRoom reverb to recorded riffs. Or if you go Blofeld/Ultranova, use some leftover cash to get a Strymon BigSky reverb pedal, and go nuts Good luck!

Now people are selling used units thrice the actual price... I have made up my mind for a brand new nord lead a1 But people constantly tell me it has limited unison features... They say nord lead 4 is the most powerful what's your say on that?
After so many yrs it till sounds beautiful, a great synthsizer to start with+the nord lead 2x are available in abundance in the used market online... Well is it possible for me to connect it to my daw(pc) through midi cable and play it through a midi out plug in...

@@cnovasalmanhussain751It is multitimbral! It can do 4 mono parts or 2 stereo parts, from its 4 audio outputs, and the 4 performance layers. We only ever use 1 layer when sound designing, but the sky's the limit on experimenting with loading up and mixing and matching patches on each layer to create interesting textures! The only built in FX is the Distortion, which is more of Saturation, at the end of the day. The NL2/2X really needs external effects to fully shine - but once recorded dry, quick application of ValhallaRoom or Valhalla Supermassive reverb really takes the sound to the next level And we know Dawnchaser uses plucks from this bank on some of his recent releases over on Spotify, and he's made murmurs on social media about using it for gritty leads and midrange basses on upcoming tracks, because the Unison is mono-stereo compatible and sounds really nice adding width to the midrange. So you absolutely could use this to make a full trance tune. From what Dawnchaser does, it seems like he prefers to pair it up with a JP8080 or Virus, to play the different timbres off each other in a mix But you can use it however you like, and it'll sound great!

Oh, that's the zgame visualizer in FL Studio. FX plugin that can generate and export video with audio. We just set up a template for our demo recording project so it all stays consistent
Oh man, there's a few with that squishy squelchy organic sound. And it's been years since we made this pack. Maybe Svampen, or anything labeled Swamp or Forest or Squish among the Leads. Play it on a low octave, and play notes of all different lengths and mess around with the modwheel/filter cutoff to figure out which one
You can use MIDI-OX to do that! It's free and setup is fairly minimal But don't try that with any of the JD-08 banks... you will not have a good time The Traverse banks will transfer over just fine though
To my ears the JV1080 is the last warm sounding module in the JV/XV lineup. Roland in the effort to provide higher pcm waves lost the charm along with other changes, love the bigger screens though.
This bank is compatible with JV-1010, XP-30, XP-50, XP-60, XP-80, XV-88, XV-2020, XV-3080, XV-5050, XV-5080 hardware synths, and includes .bin files for the Roland Cloud JV1080 and XV5080 VST plugins!
However at the moment the Psytrance bank of ours is only compatible with the hardware, because we accidentally did a complete system dump rather than a simple bank dump, and the converter for HW -> SW JV-1080 doesn't like the full system file. We need to fix that, but we don't have the 2080 on hand to make that fix. We're working on it, though, so we can correct that oversight
1) JP8080 2) NL3 3) Virus TI 4) Nova 5) Blofeld 6) MicroKorg 7) REV 2 (Poly lack in unision sucks) That's my ranking although NL3 and TI are pretty close imo. The Rev2 lacks poly in unision which is a huge flaw and I cannot understand why they do that. For that price range it should have those capabilities
I recently purchased a nord lead 3 and I have a virus snow on the way. I had to reinstall factory sounds and ended up losing some performance presets that I really liked, so now I have to get better at creating rhythmic bass patches.
