And there are no ARM chips today that deliver the sort of desktop experience you have even with the lowest tier of X86_64/AMD64 CPU. Apple's M1 and M2 chips provide a slightly better experience, but not nearly enough to compete. ARM's forte are low power microcontrollers such as in your washer and dryer all the way to smartphones and tablets. Conversely, if you're satisfied with the performance of your machine, then almost certainly it has either an AMD or an Intel chip. The simple explanation here is that Intel and AMD's chips do more work per clock cycle. They execute instructions not just pipelined, but also where possible in parallel. And that makes them more complex, with much higher transistor counts and less energy efficient. ARM chips do significantly less work per clock cyvle, but as a result are less complex and therefore use less power.
