OMG this is so helpful! I'm just knowing about ADHD at 34 years old and it's really difficult for me to sit and learn for hours 💖 I'm deeply grateful thank you! And God bless you 🌷
Hey Benny, I've heard about you in the book "Ultralearning" and I want to learn English to write authentically in that language, specifically for screenwriting and dialogue. Do you think this is achievable for someone at a B1 level who can't go to an English-speaking country?
Thanks for the info. A speaker of 6(+) languages here looking to go online for my future studies.. I too find the lack of remuneration for the tutor on the trial a little off-putting and it makes me feel guilty to try multiple tutors knowing all my fees are going to the middle man
Interesting idea! We may get there soon, but I wouldn't trust AI's voice recognition right now beyond baseline understanding of what you're saying. Maybe that will change within the next year, but for now that's definitely better left to humans!
You can see in this video that I showcase the big guns currently in the space: ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot & Perplexity. Which one does better with which languages is an interesting idea. I may draw up a test of prompts and see which one performs better, for a few large languages like Portuguese and for smaller languages like Irish. I think that could definitely be a good standalone video, presuming this one gets enough views to show me people do care about AI and language learning!
Google had a good run, but their search engine is going to have to completely transform (they are already introducing Gemini answers into the top) to stay relevant. Of course, this means blogs like ours that enjoyed free traffic also have to adapt!
I haven't been in Irish mode in the last year where I've been really diving into AI, but if I had to guess, I'd say Google's Gemini would be a better bet for smaller languages like Irish and Yiddish, instead of ChatGPT, since they've incorporated over a decade of Google translate training data into their AI model, which is more valuable for smaller languages.
Probably not. I have been trying to get Teach Yourself to expand the series, but because of how incredibly work-intensive the first 5 books are (compared to something much easier to scale to other languages like Olly's story series), it doesn't seem practical unfortunately. I'm glad I did the whole book publishing thing while I did, but I'll have to find other means to help people moving forward!
