I've been mountain biking for close to 23 years, or more than half of my life now. Starting in 2019, I got sober (long story I'll share one day) and doubled down on riding and expanding my skills, and being the best rider I can be. Since then I've accomplished so many goals, met life long friends, and explored so many beautiful places in my home state of North Carolina. I hope you enjoy watching my content as much as I enjoyed making it.
Oh, and if you're here because I pissed you off with a comment, I hope you know intended it as a direct, personal attack. Your mother was a hamster, and your father smelt of elderberries.
The crosswinds were gusting up to like 25mph. You can see at the bottom we got blown sideways off the jumps on Hellbender, and the wind wasn't nearly as bad down there. It wasn't worth the risk to me. If the weather cooperates next time, I'll get that and a few of the other side hits we missed.
I hate you missed it too. And you do kind of "just ride off" in a way. It's intimidating for sure. The slow speed requirement is what makes it difficult, IMO. You can't overcook this one and walk away.
That's really cool to hear this video had that effect. Thanks! It's a whole lot of fun if you like the outdoors and don't mind the pedalling. These days that second bit isn't even a requirement anymore with modern e-bikes. I've had some of the best adventures and met my closest friends through it.
What trail is that that you're on 3:00 ? Cause it almost looks like its on rattler a bit, then you steer left? Just asking cause i wanna make a trip out there sometime and do all the techiest trails.
You steer right at the very top as you start to descend into it. ru-vid.com_xrtlj3ahls?si=sHzdohRGgo-1AxS8 is a video from the first time I actually pulled into it. I have a better version somewhere but I need to put it on RU-vid. The rock roll itself is sketchy, but really it's the run out you need to worry the most about. It dumps you into that really tight left hander on the Rattler with a good bit of speed so there's a solid chance you'll blow out the top of that really dusty catch berm. You have to be able to control your speed and get as much grip as you can at the bottom of the rock roll in that loamy section.

Oh yes brother, it was. I did get back on the bike, and I recorded the good run after this one which I think makes it count double, don't you agree? I was tempted to pack it up after the bail, but that would have ruined my whole day. #justmtbthings
@@cliffwroberts seriously that is insane. Insane that you managed to dust yourself off and do it again perfectly. With way more style and technique than I ever did. I'm so jealous of your ability. Also hell to the yes brother you did the right thing! Hot damn the best recovery I've ever seen.
Not too bad, really. Tuck and roll for the win. Plus that landing is so steep, you end up sliding more than stopping. A few scrapes, tweaked ankle, and a gnarly ass-bruise is about all I suffered from that one.
@@cliffwroberts Dude you are a much better rider than me. Up in Danbury, NC right? A couple hours away from me. But I bet I'd have to follow you down it. I'd do it with you. I feel like I could follow your line and feel less nervous about it!!! I'll keep you posted one day! :)
Hell yes man. You made it look like you've done it plenty of times before. The GoPro effect really did you dirty on this one though. That thing is nasty in person.
