To be bless with a voice like that must be something else, that vibrato in his voice is so beautiful, strong, and sweet, the build up in this song just magic .........
Years back I gave a very good brilliant cd to a friend with a great brilliant selection off songs from Dominic Kirwan. She wasn't sure about the cd because she thought she didn't know any off the songs on it. Simple play the cd and find out. I think the cd soon went into hybernation and was never played. I don't know Iff my friend kept the cd or gave it to someone. Looking at how well Dominic has become over the many years and the many great brilliant cds and videos he has made and they have sold world wide. And I wonder Iff my friend knows about all off that. When she wasn't sure about the cd I gave her off Dominic Kirwan all those years back. Back when Dominic first came out I as those didn't know off him. Years after I've become one off his many world wide fans and I have DVDs and cds off him. I went to see him perform in Ayr and in Glasgow City Centre. I do hope to go see him again. That depends Iff he will be back in Glasgow or Ayr Edinburgh.
Dominic Kirwan is just simply the best what a brilliant singer he is this song and his beautiful voice just gives you goosebumps and singing with true feeling just brilliant xx
O that's what I call singing..... the vibrato in your voice is so important for that song .......there are a lot of big Irish stars try to attempt to sing this song but no way could they come near you....magic
I met Dominic Kirwan in the Hazel Hotel in Monstereven Co Kildare in 1993 we were slagging him that Derry were going to Win the Double All Ireland that year . they in fact did win their first all ireland football final beating Cork great memories of the good ould days. fantastic singer
The classic performances of this song are by Luke Kelly and Paddy Reilly. Check them out on You Tube. Both were with the Dubliners. Luke's version goes way back, he died in 1984. Paddy's is from the Dubs 40th reunion concert from 2002. They are both awesome
