Hi Susan, I was just wondering if you knew of a website or something that has a record of genetics for most of the Hoyas that have been found or hybridized. Thank you so much for doing these how to hybridize your own Hoyas videos. I'm so excited to try. 🙏🙏🙏💯
Hello Susan, this is super useful video thank you so much. I was wondering if you are amateur enthusiast and don't have many flowers blooming at once, can you save the pollen in a freezer like other plants?
Very helpful, thank you! About how often are you successful using this method? (I’m wondering how many times I should expect to have to do it before getting results). And how do you pick which Hoyas to cross? Is there any way to predict what traits the hybrids will have or is it a random mix of the parents traits? Thank you!!
KOKO means keep on Keepin’ on. A farm grows crops a ranch raises animals. We raise Boer goats and cattle. The ranch was named by my father who was a 31 year Army veteran in transportation. The truckers in transportation would say keep on Keepin on as they transported goods down the road.
I’m so glad I came across this video thank you so much!! I’m a pretty new owner to Hoyas and have not had any successful flowers yet but I have a few starting so I can’t wait to see how it goes!
Just tried this for the first time and made a few mistakes, but I'm excited to try again soon!! Thank you Susan! I'm a huge fan of yours and love collecting your hybrids! I hope to be as successful at it as you are some day!! 😊
Wondering if you can help me. I recently purchased a small plant that was labeled Koko Ranch “Crystal”. I purchased it from a lady who is part of a Hoya plant group that I am also in. I was wondering if you could shed a little light on this particular variety such as background, parentage, etc. Thank you.
I couldn't understand the name of the tool you used, sorry, I am Hungarian. Would you be kind and writing it down for me? I would like to try this method. Thank you very much! :)
Hey Susan it was so nice seeing you at winter garden today! And for letting us know about this video. Truly appreciate all your wisdom and how friendly you are!
I love that you share basic stuff like this. Everyone who loves Hoyas needs to know and recognize these things but most sellers don’t talk about it or teach! So thank you for sharing knowledge with us! And the new greenhouse is 🥰 major plant goals!
Thank you so much for these videos! It’s hard to find good footage and explanation of hoya pollination I have a question, if I was to self pollinate a plant, do I have to remove the pollinium from a second flower before sliding the ones from the first flower in?
Great question no a self you can use the same pollensacs from the same flower. Remember when you do this it’s like two siblings having a child or you having a child with yourself in so much as the worst qualities can come through because you don’t have other genes to add to cause hybrid vigor. Hybrid vigor happens when genes of different species of a plant are mixed together. The best qualities are often exaggerated and the worst recess or don’t show. Not always true but often, that is why you try to cross two different species. You want the best qualities to be passed on and the worst qualities to be hidden (not expressed).
@@beastlyflower1I know this is an old comment but could you use pollinium from the same plant just take the pollinium from a different bundle of flowers. So take one pollinium from one bundle of flowers and put it into another flower from a different flower bundle? Or is this still considered self pollinating also?
Susan these are the best videos on pollination I’ve ever seen! Cannot tell you how grateful I am to you for doing this! I know you’re really busy and I appreciate your time and wisdom!!! Thanks so very much!! ❤️
Miss talking to you! I have been out of the loop for awhile since my mother’s passing. I’m getting better and the grief is more like memories flooding not tears flowing
Great video, Susan…being able to actually see clearly how it’s done, and as Betsy Begonia said without camera shake! So interesting. Would like to also see one you’ve crossed with the little tag you attach. Could you let us know if this one takes? Would be fun to follow its development. Thanks for a great video! Terrie😊
I laughed so hard when you said "I'm really not feeling successful!" I felt that frustration. This is an excellent video with great footage. Thank you so much for doing this! I was watching some videos about this the other day but yours makes it the most clear with no camera shake, etc.
