Thank you. I was diagnosed with both at ADHD and OCD. I couldn’t function. I still have people in my life who think I’m faking it.

I just listened to this on the Apple podcast player thingy. I know EXACTLY what she’s talking about as I’ve lived and learned all she's saying. I've also suffered and still do suffer physical, mental, emotional pain when unable to move my body. It feels like my brain and body are dying, lol…(I actually feel it right now, unfortunately, so I’m probably no writing clearly.) This is such valuable information! Having said those things, in the audio only version, her voice is so loud and fast and enthusiastic, I could not finish listening. Now, I see her on the video and of course, she's absolutely adorable, so I feel mean for my comment. I'm leaving it anyway so maybe you can fix it so people will get the information! 🥰 (My irritability is a sure sign I need to go do what she's saying, lol.) Thank you!

I can't never express my gratitude enough to you, having finally found an RSD oasis in the ADHD related symptoms' desert. Finishing listening to this episode of your podcasts has helped a lot to thoroughly see through all of the puzzled behaviours of ADHD in women, in particular her sensitivity to rejections. It's a grand prize winning podcast. Thank you Tracy!

I appreciate the comments for those who are long-term listeners. However, I came to this based on the title of the video and did not find any useful information on handling rumination or criticism.

New listener here! Just got diagnosed in Jan and I’m 29 and Laura is basically describing my life 😭I was “diagnosed” with anxiety, depression, and BPD that was later disproved with my adhd diagnosis and I feel like I’m just picking up the pieces. I was diagnosed young with anxiety and depression and did cbt but nothing helped.

Thank you for the Podcast Tracy, RSD has definitely been the most challenging part of my ADHD. I remember that my desk in school was always a mess when I was in grade school which transferred to my locker in middle and highschool and now my home! It doesn't take much to get me crying at any and everything, I can lose my cool quickly. I'm a people pleaser, perfectionist, always worried about others feelings and I don't take my own feelings into account. My first long term relationship was with a narcissist and always trying to please him, I have given up on my own dreams and plans over the years. I have a hard time looking further than what's happening now and not further into the future. I can go on and on about my RSD!

Thank you, thank you thank you for this episode. I am feeling so validated in my past and my present experience. It’s a daily battle for me against my family. I need my surroundings to be without clutter and mess. I cannot think I cannot do many tasks until the environment is addressed. My family could give a rats booty about our home, environment. Our home is highly neurodivergent and they grew up in a single parent home with a mental illness who couldn’t clean and wouldn’t clean. I fantasize about living alone and not having to clean up constantly after other people. Sarah, thank you for sharing also thank you Tracy for touching on the subject. ❤

I can't believe how much this makes sense to me. I've had such a hard time managing my life and trying to explain myself to my husband. Or the "what's wrong with me" stuff. It literally is my brain chemistry. Hard to believe at 48 I'm finally learning this!! Breaking things down to smallest steps helps a lot.

How necessary is getting diagnosed? I’ll be 70 later this year. I began to wonder several years ago if I was ADD. I assumed not ADHD because I am not the least bit hyperactive. A few of my grandchildren have been diagnosed and a couple of my daughters suggested I might have ADHD. I read your book and I’m convinced. Quite a few of the symptoms you described were true of me when I was younger. For the most part I have been able to create workarounds for myself. As I was listening to your book. I found myself thinking I remember being like that, but I did this and it’s not really an issue now. The main problems I still struggle with are procrastination and being messy. I read Dana K White’s book Decluttering at the Speed of Life and her system has immensely improved my messiness issues. Overall my house is less messy than any previous time in my life, but procrastination keeps it a little messy. My biggest issue with procrastination is that when I procrastinate to the point that a deadline stresses me out, I suddenly have a burst of creativity that makes me do something much better than if I work steadily toward a deadline. I also do well if I do something immediately and way ahead of a deadline. My greatest example of this is as a student, the only time I made less than an “A” on a term paper is the time I forced myself to work steadily towards the deadline. I got a “C” on that one. I feel like even though I hate procrastinating, I get rewarded every time I procrastinate. Other than doing something immediately, I can’t find a workaround. Unfortunately, doing something immediately isn’t often possible. That was a lot of words to ask if I really need to be diagnosed at almost 70. I’m nerdy enough to be curious but frugal enough to not want to spend the money if the only benefit is to satisfy that curiosity. 😂

much love from an adhd male who hates biting their nails even tho it helps me focus at times. I just hate the pain and want my nails to look nice for once lmao. thanks lots. also i would like to add that i think alot of ppl cant relate thst more awareness should be shown to this topic and adhd cuz growing up my parents always shamed me for biting my nails and i always wanted to stop but i never could

Tracy are you able to link to Maya’s social media so that I can connect with her by following her? God bless Maya for sharing her story to give women courage and hope to face it.

I love the shoutout for Scrivener! I'm a writer by day, podcaster/astrologer/Tarot reader by night. I don't use Scrivener in a terribly sophisticated way, but I find it invaluable! Neurodivergent here: ADHD + bipolar. Thank you for raising awareness and being honest about your diagnoses. I start a new Scrivener Project once every year or so, and just write everything in there under different files. A document here for interviewing a fire prevention expert, a file there for writing down notes about my family's health. This works great for my newspaper journalism and columns, which tend to run 800 words... there's often need for moving some notes from one newspaper column document within the Project, say, to a longer article I'm planning to pitch elsewhere.
