Great vid. In 1944 this airfield was testing Lancasters towing Spitfires, as part of Tiger Force, cancelled when the atom bomb ended the war. In the early 1980s, if you asked nicely, the customs guys would show you around the airfield, hangars and one or two vintage aircraft.stored back then.
Was this just today? this is my local airport and i want to get into plane spotting as a young teenager so i think i might give it a go next week, thanks as usual for the videos😁
This aircraft was part of the Royal Flight, chosen for its short field operational capability which was needed in and out of London City Airport, there were two of these as part of that flight, Prince Charles once landed one of them which ended in a runway overshoot causing nose and nose wheel damage, in the mid 90s, later these were replaced with two Falcon 900 lx models chosen for the 3 engines and extra power plant redundancy .
