I like that these aren't fake. I hate the fake restoration videos with added fake rust. This channel and Lost and Restored are my 2 faves in the genre.
All of the screws and parts are loosened before being shown on camera. I've heard these types of video's being called BS before and this one certainly has my attention. Pretty magical how that thing came apart like butter. There's def a lot of horse S going on here at the least.
Color case hardened frame which is why it didn't take the caustic bluing. They've got these fake color case patina kits now that might look better and sometimes applying cold blue will give a tad refresh, keeping the mottled look to the frame.
Great job restoring this gun. As for the 38lc round, it was a really under powered bullet which is clearly demonstrated in the ballistic gel test. So bad during a conflict that the US Army did an emergency issue of Army Single Action 45 colt.
Love watching your videos, they are always great! Just one thing though....... Billy the Kid never carried a double-action revolver, despite what the supposed ''lawman'' Pat Garrett may have claimed. He always carried single-action, Colt 44/40's because they functioned better ( in 1880 ) and his rifle took the exact same ammo.
@@TheKinzlerBros just for fun, the original prop sold for over a million dollars. i've never held one, but i have the toy. if that's anything to go by, it actually feels pretty good in the hand. i imagine the real deal is pretty front-heavy.
You have a formidable talent sir. Excellent work. The Model 1873 is, in my eyes, one of the most beautiful guns ever made. Glad to see it rise from the "dust".
I have one. Much older, early. (Works and runs fine.) Short barrel. No ejector. Better condition, but not too much better. Bore is much better no pitting. Grips have 3 distinct purposeful 'kill marks'. I wonder what this gun would tell me if it could talk. (I have not opened it up. I wonder if there were any other gunsmith modifications on mine such as you showed on yours with the special spring.)
I don't mind the voiceover when working on these things. However, if you're going to make it more common, I would suggest adjusting your voice audio since it comes off as somewhat mumbled and kind of quiet. If you need references, I would check out Backyard Ballistics or The 8-Bit Guy's voice over styles. That being said, great work here.
