hi, is gameplay on real hardware here? on the hidden palace page it says it is possible to emulate it on xemu, but extracting the bin and converting it to xiso does not start, and remains a black screen
You need a dev mode bios/dashboard and 128mb of ram enabled for the game to launch even on xemu. There's a link on speedrun.com to a guide but unfortunately the download for the debug mode files are dead. You should still be able to find them elsewhere if you look around, archive.org has the debug bios if you search "xbox-4627_debug.bin".
I'd say the final version is better overall but dom had some interesting features that were cut and the old tool locations in mines make a lot more sense.
It loses a bit of time at the end since you have to wait for them to update, but I leave it on so I know when I've done the talk to bond/yor/loid misisons and can stop double talking. Maybe you can just disable it at the end to "complete" them instantly though?
@Coldrampage2 It's definitely worth looking into out of curiosity, but it's something I'll have to look into if the game ever goes on Game Pass, since I don't own the game myself. It's not one of my main priorities, but following this game's speedrunning community has been interesting to see how a game like this can be optimized.
@@ghosthuntermike2592 They changed the timing rules so that you don't have to wait for the pop up to end, so it doesn't lose time anymore. "If all side missions are finished before the credits, timing ends once the post-credits Event Picture with the word FIN shows up"
Just played this for the first time since ps2 when I was elementary, good game but rough platforming at times. Infinite lives was really necessary imo Leash mechanic is a lot cuter than just whistling Wallace around, but I get that it was probably tricky to program and not have a lot of glitches. Easier and less glitchy to just have the Wallace AI pathfind
@@ghosthuntermike2592 It's kinda similar to doom eternal gameplay wise, but it's got a ton of out of bounds and skips so there's only like 4 combat sections in the whole run.
press the throw button while moving, then keep moving untill they glow, then press the throw button again.I think it's something like that, havent played for a bit.
I adored this game as a kid. Of course, its straight-forward as an adult, but as a kid this was super challenging and fun. Glad to see this run, gives me a ton of nostalgia!
@@Caero_ ps2 emulator had issues with corrupt textures for quite a while, they're mostly fixed but you'd be better off running on wii speedrun wise anyway. ps3/xbox emulators have fast loads and are still fairly ealry in development.
So far I've just booted up the DK reference bonus Level on GameCube swiss and I'm getting death for no reason glitches as I'm progressing to get to the top which is really annoying! How do I fix this? No joke this happened when I didn't touch a dang thing... *Gets a no reason death glitch* I DIDN'T TOUCH ANYTHING LIKE WHAT THE F!?
@@Coldrampage2 WHAT THE 🤬!? FRONTIER!? WHY DIDN'T YOU GUYS FIX THIS!? That's it, I'm done, screw 100%! I'd rather watch the Wallace and gromit movies on iPlayer myself -_-
