Jaye's Bouquet. I don't recommend it because of no support from the designer. I bought the whole kit fall 2023 and many errors about the embroidery blocks as to floss colors. Some blocks the pattern calls for a floss color in supply list, but not used in the instructions. Other blocks, the instructions call for a floss color, not listed on the supplies list. The fabric blocks are very inconsistent as to the color name of the fabric used in supply list and the instructions. The fabrics are not labeled with the color name and can be confusing which fabric goes into the block, as some fabrics are very close in color. I contacted the designer 3 times by email for clarification, using the email listed on her website. No response. I called the number on her website also, no answer nor voicemail. This was over 6 months ago, so maybe she is more responsive to customers now. I contacted the Fabric Patch, which carried this BOM, with my questions. The owner responded quickly and said that the pattern was problematic, that her maker, an experienced in both quilting and embroidery, had many problems making the Jaye's Bouquet. Maybe the pattern errors had been fixed. I'm just relating my experience.
Oh wow, I am so sorry to hear about your experience. Maybe because I was so new to this I didn't notice it so much, I visually looked at colors and changed them in some cases. I did see a couple of blocks that had the cutting instructions that were not correct, but it wasn't much fabric. It is definitely an advanced pattern with assumptions, but I knew that going into it. I do appreciate your response and concerns!
@@CanaryQuilts My main issue lack of response by the creator of the pattern. Most patterns say the pattern is copyrighted and contact the creator for permissions to copy or whatever. No response to anyone seems to me, leaves it wide open to copy and do whatever you want with the pattern. I have no intentions of doing that to any pattern, what about unscrupulous people? I had to do the same with magnifying glass the photos fo match the colors. Also, her applique instructions left much to be desired. Compare her pattern and instructions to Lori Holt's patterns, there's no comparison.
The link is in the description below the video (Olive Grace Studios), just keep in mind that this is an advanced pattern with assumptions that you know how to do a lot of this type of work.
Have you ever looked at the Bundle Club from GE Designs? It’s amazing. Not monthly, every 3 months (I believe), but it’s twelve 1/2 yard cuts. Amazing fabric.
Hi Carrie, I was working on the state quilt blocks, and I noticed your videos and patterns are gone for that series. Is that something I can access on EQ8?
I wasn't sure when I started how I wanted to do applique, but I have hardly done any needle turn applique so I don't know that I would be the best to show it! I'm kind of a raw edge applique girl, but I will be starting my applique of all my blocks in the coming weeks and show you what I decide.
I did a letter and number randomizer and decided to do it like that. If you are looking for a specific block, you can search that block on my channel and it will come up for you. I have timecodes in the description below the video that you can click on and it will go directly to that block in the video.
I couldn’t have done it without your videos. One suggestion in cutting. If I did it again, I would cut all the background pieces before assembling. Cutting the large pieces first would insure you have enough fabric.
I loved doing this quilt, congrats to those of you doing it, you will be so pleased to seen it done! Mine has been done a few years, can't decide to hand quilt, or put on my gammill! It is one of my favorites, I did a Baltimore that I am also fond of.
Thanks Carrie! Now I have to go make brownies! I found a way to make myself go faster ( it seems that way anyhow). I am going row by row, I cut out the fabrics for each template in the row and pin them to the paper. Then cut out one template at a time, and sew it. For me, it seems faster as I make one after another. I'm on row C! 😢
Great tutorial! I have the pattern but haven't chosen fabrics yet. I really appreciate the time you put into figuring out sizes for the background FPP pieces and for sharing them.
Just talked with EQ8 because my triangle pieces were not matching our print outs. Found out that you do not want to print out the blank triangles ( the ones in between the quilted ones) from the whole quilt view, you will want to go into the Libraries and select Border Blocks - Corner Kites and Scallops and then use those pieces to print out and then cut your pieces. You will also see there is an option for the scallop to be one single piece or two. Hope that makes sense.
That is very interesting, and you scared me! I have all these cut and I went in and checked my cuts and they are correct! EQ8 has a video on how to print these pieces also, and I printed my templates in my video the way they did in their video. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iYwKkHfpF9Q.html If you go to the block library and go to the corner kites and scallops and look at the blocks they do say layer 2 in parentheses. Oh man, was I scared when I read this, but my pieces are the correct size!
@@CanaryQuilts I am so happy that they are the right size, that would have been a lot of wasted work otherwise. I actually purchased a Dear Jane quilt triangle template ruler, that is the only reason I dug into it in the first place. I had cut a bunch using the ruler and then printed the paper one out from the quilt and worried that I had cut the wrong size as well. Lucky for both of us, thanks so much. I'm only week 21 but I am now addicted to this quilt thanks to you!
I did see there was the acrylic templates were out there, I just want to give the Dear Jane Add-On a try for the whole thing. Oh no, I am responsible for someone's addiction, LOL. It is interesting to dive into how EQ8 and Brenda Papadakis put together the blocks and sometimes how I look at the blocks. I am just trying to make it a little easier for me to do, and hopefully make it easier for other people to do.
I am coming to this quilt late in the piece but I really appreciate the work you’ve done with these videos, its a comfort to know they’ll be there for me to reference as I need them so thanks in advance for the help. I have one question, how did you choose the blocks you would work on each week? Did you pull numbers out of a hat ? Just curious .😀 Also I only have the book, not the EQ software, and I’m wondering if thats going to be a problem. I can’t imagine I would use the software for future quilts and also I’m a bit of a technophobe, so I can’t really justify the expense. But I’m open to suggestions that will make my life easier as I really want to get this quilt made before I get too much older (I’m 72) , and I would like to think that this very special quilt will become a family heirloom. I’m looking forward to the making of it and I appreciate all hints and tips.❤️
I don't have the book, so I'm not sure if what I am doing will translate to the book? I don't know if there are variations of the blocks in the book? There could be some math or redrawing to get to the way I do the blocks in EQ8, would be my guess. I did a letter and number randomizer to get the order of the blocks.
Vielen lieben Dank für diese tolle Video-Anleitung, ohne diese hätte ich mich nicht an diesen Quilt gewagt (es ist mein erster). Herzliche Grüße aus Deutschland.
I love this one! I wish I had known about these little quilts two years ago. I would have loved to make this Twist and Turn quilt. I would have had to fix that block, too. I have never regretted tearing out anything that bothered me. It's so worth it in the end. Nice that you share quilting with your mom. Another great video!
You are responsible for me buying several simple whatnots kits. 🤣 I just love your mini quilts! I am an experienced quilter, but for some reason the instructions for cutting these little babies seemed intimidating. I don't know why, but I feel better seeing that you do have some extra fabric for most fabrics, just in case of a mishap! I have never made a miniature quilt, so I feel motivated now!
I've seen people attach the rick-rack under the edge of the binding, so that half of it shows on the quilt side with little points sticking out. Glad to see you're feeling better! Take Care!
I am working on J10 and I am not sure how to make the 'simple' (but not to me) block in EQ8. I have the block ready but cannot see on the video what are the Snaps Horizontal and Snaps Vertical numbers? Thank you!
I love your box openings. It is always hard to know what to subscribe to and you help to keep the guess work out of it. I live in Michigan and the weather here is kind of hit and miss one day it is rainy and 60 and the next day is sunny and 75. Thank you for sharing.
Hi! I'm new to your channel. I live in extreme Northern California very close to the So. Oregon border. I love all of the boxes. So much fun to watch box openings. I had that nasty bug you had about a month ago. Ll I've recovered mostly but have a lingering brain fog or something like it..and little less energy as well unfortunately. I hope you recover back to normal very soon. I would love to have any of your givaways. PLEASE ENTER ME! I LOVE FQS!! Thank you and I'll be watching 😊💕
Hi, I'm in Virginia and would love to win. I enjoy watching your box openings each month. Always so many good packages full of so much goodness. ✂️🪡🧵💕 The Jolly Bars are exclusive to FQS - a layer cake cut in half, so same number as layer cake only they are 5 x 10".Also, each Jolly Bar comes with an exclusive pattern only available by purchasing the Jolly Bar.
So, I started this club, thinking I was going to get the beautiful cup, but they didn’t send me anything in August. In September I got my very first bag with blue fabric that I didn’t care that much about. I hope this month is better. Yes, I love to see you opening the boxes. You are very enthusiastic about it!!😊😊😊 Oh, I love the vacuum attachment!!
Hello from Indiana - The fabrics are beautiful and winning the giveaway would make my day! The Yuki (sp) were also gorgeous! Thanks for your videos - I really enjoy them.
