Bush Kayaking and Camping Adventures, Bushcraft , Hints , Tips , and Reviews . Along with Birdwatching Flora and Fauna , Australian bush, travel and exploration I have been into camping and the Australian bush since i was a kid. I have been an outdoor educator teaching the youth of Australia teamwork, self resilience and leadership with the outdoors as our pallet and tool to learn within. Including teaching within The Duke of Edinburgh’s youth development program . For many years I was a guide for Rock Climbing, Abseiling, Canyoning, Bushwalking , Camping Expeditions flatwater canoe and kayaking guide . Here did i not only learn the disciplines and skills to do with those activities but also learnt much about the flora and fauna, the geology and biology of australia and continue to learn and teach my life long skills and knowledge to others . RU-vid is also a great place for me to do this Thank you so much for watching We would be honoured if you stuck around and Subscribed :)
cool idea, never had to worry about sharing a tarp 😛 How do you go about water running down the tie out lines? I have a dd hammock as well and I tried a couple of different types of drip lines - prussik knot one time and inline carabiner but water always managed to cross it. I kinda stopped using the hammock as a result. Loved it the few dry nights I used it though ✌🏻
Yeah, great stuff, nicely put together. We spend a tin of time up at Forster and love the Myall Lakes, but have not explored anywhere near enough. I'd love to have a few grand lying about so I could get a good kayak set up. Nice to be able to live vicariously through your trips! Keep them coming ✌🏻
Thanks for the comment . glad you like the videos . You can get a great kayak setup second hand with a jacket and paddle for a few hundred dollars if you keep your eye out on FB market place and gumtree . a canoe is another great option you can fit more camping gear in them if you wanted to go camping . you wouldn't need a trailer either with your 4x4 . kayaks and canoes have their pros and cons . if you have any questions email me if you like or contact me on FB . Happy camping
@@BushKayakersCampingAustralia cool, good to know. I don't have Facebook but my wife does so I'll ask her to do the hard work 😛 I have looked on gumtree a few times for kayaks and canoes, but nothing has jumped out. I'l want to make sure I have gear I can manage and is safe as it would be a new world for me. The only kayaking I have done is in Forster when we hire a few for an hour or two and they are very basic. Might need to tap into your advice if I do decide to jump him, thanks for that ✌🏻
@@outandabout_oz no worries Email me and we can have a chat on the phone if you like . its really not that expensive . the main thing is to work out what you want the kayak or canoe for and go from there . then decide what will suit you best for your budget .
Thanks for the comment . Yep its a pretty good setup prefer it to tents more comfortable too . Hammocks have their pros and cons though . cant always find the perfect trees although dont have to worry about finding flat ground to pitch a tent on
Thanks for a quick look . The modified ridge line is a great idea , it will save so much time and hassle trying to get the hanging angle right every time you hang your hammock . set once and forget . brilliant !
@SamClarkPhoto Thanks for the comment Sam . We have seen quite a few dolphins while kayaking and it's always so special . Was totally amazed to see the dingoes we didn't expect that
Yes indeed! we were due for a break out of the rain . we had been paddling in that rain for about two hours and were getting pretty fed up lol . Jan was wishing for a nice dry towel to dry off with and i was wishing for a nice verandah to shelter under . we found both ! Its like we manifested it lol
Thanks for the comment Michael . I highly recommend it. It was a great trip ! We paddled from Nerong to Tea Gardens over four days and three nights . One of the beauties of the trip is you can catch a bus from Tea Gardens back to nerong twice a day for 8 bucks and it only takes half an hour . also heaps of other wild spots to camp as well and a few other not so wild spots like these ones . We will probably do it again but leave from Tea Gardens and catch the bus back from Nerong . If you're interested to check out our journey here is a link to the playlist ru-vid.com/group/PL-Q7UBTw_3qUpDkIHTZTgo2aUR9w8II8p Any other questions about the trip just ask . Happy Paddling

Glad you like it , Thanks for watching . I see from your channel you're right into Dingoes . Nice :) It was a pretty special thing for us to see these guys in their wild place . We don't see them that often . so was pretty special
@@BushKayakersCampingAustralia When I saw the dolphins and the dingoes, it brought a big smile to my face. Thank you for sharing your travels. Yes , I still struggle with the Govt and trying to save dingoes.
Lovely video mate and yes, it's sad we share the planet with people who have no care for our natural surrounds. We have seen some terrible examples, not only of littering, but destructive acts too. Not far from where you are, my parents went to a campsite where new shelters and seats/tables had been built. All pulled down, most likely by someone with a ute and a rope (and too much beer). Anyway - keep enjoying the waters and see you in the next vid! Cheers - Dave
Hey Dave glad you liked the vid and thanks for the comment . yes there is no comprehending some stupid stuff us humans do . We are a weird mob. Hopefully these people will reflect on their actions and learn not to repeat them and become better humans for us all :)
great little spot, the water tumbling over the rocks at the 5m mark looks like the rivers around me. Bloody awesome was a pretty good description. The rubbish is always disappointing
thanks for watching and your comment . Yeah it is a pretty little spot . yeah I hate coming across rubbish that has been dumped or just carelessly left behind at a camp site . if they can carry it in , why cant they carry it out . As for this rubbish iut was just dumped there . I truly cant think why anyone would do that . the mind boggles . as you can see from my reaction in this video , it really annoys me lol
@@BushKayakersCampingAustralia ha ha ha, the reaction was spot on. I had a similar flip out when I saw some bloke chuck stuff out the window of his car on a highway. drives any normal person mad!
I can't understand why people dump rubbish like that. Was it a camp site they didn't clean up or do you think they just dumped it? It's good that someone else cleaned it up too. good onya for doing that!
Thanks or the comment and watching ! Someone dumped it there . it was mostly plastic take away containers and other assorted rubbish and i guess those chairs were a part of it too . It kind of looked like rubbish that would come from a restaurant excluding food scraps . It makes no rational sense why someone would have dumped it there or anywhere . it didnt stink , wasn't leaking , wasn't going to cost them heaps of money to dump it responsible . Often idiots will dump rubbish in the bush because its going to cost them money to take it to the dump or the rubbish is leaking or putrid but this just seamed like blaintant vandalism . IDK what they were thinking , the bloody idiots . I just cant work it out
Thanks for the comment ! Yeah I hate that too . I understand sometimes people just have to go .but for some reason it doesn't occur to them to at least burry it .
G'day mate thanks for the comment . Glad you enjoyed the video . I've watched some videos of people paddling around texas . looks like there are some great places to go kayaking there too .I would love to check some of them out
thanks for the comment . yep its a great hat totally waterproof and squishy. Sometimes I sit on it if the ground is wet or spikey . you can squish it up without it losing its shape . very durable and compact if you need it to be . here is a link if you're looking for one . also on amazon and ebay too I think www.barmahhats.com.au/home my one is the (squishy bronco 1022)
Thanks for watching. If you like our videos , We would love it if you LIKED and SUBSCRIBED to our channel . That would be BLOODY AWESOME ! Have a good one 👍

gopro stop recording haha my fav part. well what a epic adventure mate loved following the mini series. I'll hafta get up to myall after I finish some Reno's on my house.
Glad you liked it . haha yeah I get sick of hearing myself saying gopro bla bla , and then having to hear it again when editing but worked out pretty good at the very end of the video lol . My remote got waterlogged . hint . dont buy a cheap remote Happy renovating . Looking forward to seeing your vids from when you get to Myall We will defiantly be back , Maybe start at Tea Gardens or Hawsknest and paddle to nerong next time . Hopefully get better weather
You have so many more interesting waterways in NSW than we have in Victoria! Kayak camping looks like so much fun too. I hope I get to do that one of these days. I'm thinking canoe camping in a tandem as my husband isn't comfortable in a kayak. That spot that you stopped at the end with the sunset was spectacular!
You've found many nice spots in Vic from what I have seen NSW is much bigger so I guess we have more to choose from . QLD looks bloody amazing too yes canoes are great too and have a few pros and cons . one good thing about canoes is you can pack heaps of stuff into them for camping but dont handle as well in the wind .. A tandem canoe would probably be great for you guys . Looking forward to seeing more of you exploration on the water
yep it was a great job, being an outdoor ed teacher is about one of the most rewarding jobs ive ever done . I also worked for adventure companies in the blue mtns guiding canyoning. abseiling .rock climbing. bushwalking and camping expeditions in my 20s and 30s . they were great times too. The rain didn't spoil the trip , it kind of adds to it , its all a part of it , so long as we stay warm and it bloody well stops thats the main thing lol glad it stopped when it did as for the location yes you got it . if when you read this comment can you edit your message about the location no point letting the whole www know lol wont be paradise for long . someone will build a resort on it lol or np will put a fence around it . Thanks heaps for watching and commenting . so glad you're loving the videos looking forward to more of yours
haha thanks for the comment . Glad you liked the video . Looking forward to checking out your adventure on the Lake . Its a bloody awesome spot . In my next video Day 2 when i finish editing it , check it out I cant believe how many fish were jumping around I've never seen anything like it
yes that would be bloody awesome but we don't have enough experience with going out to sea . need to scratch up on our self rescue techniques . we are fine on flat water but not confident enough to tandem or self rescue in a big swell so for now we stack to lakes estuaries creeks and rivers although that is our goal at some stage be skilled and confident enough to go sea kayaking . Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching
@@BushKayakersCampingAustralia Thanks for your reply to my tongue in cheek comment, It's about 16.5 km entrance to entrance by straight lines that would take you 2.6 km offshore (serious implecations). Much longer trip if you want to hug the beaches & you would need surf skills. In summer the coast typically experiences an afternoon 25 - 30 knots NE sea breeze which means constant breaking white caps on some pretty intimidating swells & a real chance of a forced beach landing in heavy surf. You would want to pick your day well. My inlaws place is near there, so I am in the area regularly. Last time I wanted to try a paddle from Ulladulla to Conjola, but the winds & sea state were not appealing for a solo attempt, so alternatively I surfed Burrel entrance a bit, then paddled to the tidal limit of Stony Ck & back, about 20 km.
@@kenwebster5053 haha yep not a paddle for us . sounds pretty daunting . Sea kayaking is a whole different level of planning skills and risk . might check out stoney creek next time we are down that way
Maybe although I think even if they were there surfacing the ripples on the water from the wind would have made it pretty difficult to see them . Thanks for watching and your comment And yes this proposal for the pumped hydro need to get out there to the public . Please. check the links in the description and share them with your friends colleagues and family
Yep it doesn't get much better than just taking to the water in the yaks with a picnic and the freedom to paddle as far ,fish ,relax as much as you like . Nothing like paddling on a nice day or night . Thanks for watching .
