Were you a teacher before you entered school counseling? I currently teach adult ESL and I honestly enjoy being an “informal” counselor to all my students. It’s a natural fit. So, I’m thinking of starting an online masters in school counseling. Could we email or have a phone call so I learn more about the field? Thanks!
Yes, in order to be a School Counselor in Texas you have to be a teacher first. If you are passionate about of helping your students, this could be an option for you. You will need to do a master’s degree.
Is it possible to be a school counselor while doing private counseling part time? (Assuming you are licensed in both and you are not working with students at your school?) Would that work practically?
Yes. It is not the ideal situation, unfortunately happens, especially if a student is trying to harm himself or gets very very aggressive, but youNEED a certificate, and training. There is also forms you fill out after the incident.
I am currently a school counselor at a private school, did anyone ever look into credentialing for Christian counseling? I have my 60 hrs for LPC, just trying to figure out next steps!

I am at a vocational training school but my home high school has 4 counselors broken by (A-E F-La)1 college Guidence associate 1 school psychologist and a registrar
