I wish you guys would speak at normal speed - everyone speaks sooooo slow it’s like they’re avoiding diptongos at any & all costs y no lo entiendo para nada
Hi!! I was wondering if you would consider changing from Spanish to English translation to Spanish to more picture/cartoon So instead of the Spanish and English word for steep in could be just a diagonal arrow this way we don’t translate in our heads and get a first pass idea of what they word mean. Then as we hear it more we get a better understand on how spanish speakers use it
Near the beginning of the video, the waiter says "lleva arroz y frijoles a un lado." in the context of the conversation, I'm assuming that he's telling you that it comes with beans and rice on the side. When I look that up on three different translators, it translates that phrase to say, "take rice and beans on the side." Can you help me understand this?
Yes! In that context, “lleva” means that “it comes with”. It’s not its literal definition. It would be the same meaning as in “viene con” or “trae”. “Lleva” is slightly more informal than the other ones, but very often used!
Thank you, but honestly I think your other format ideas have more impact. I think this is because your other videos are truly, well, videos 🙂 -- i.e. combine audio+visual means, while with this format you reduced video to text (partially of course, but still). I am just expressing my opinion, nothing more, as a feedback to help you figure out what suits you best and your audience. Thank you for all your work, all the best to you!
Thank you for making videos like this, Ali. You are so engaging and kind, and it actually helps me feel like I am in a conversation. Please make more of these. I'm not sure if you have any videos about being in class with a peer and asking questions about summer plans, homework, the weekend, or going to get food after class, but it would be helpful to have classroom peer interactions.
